Fantastic resource on Radio Astronomy. Still reading this book - don't know that I will ever officially 'finish'. I spent a week at Green Bank National Radio Astronomy Observatory at a teacher workshop one summer. I went back to my teaching and had my class build the Radio Jove project (simple 2-wire radio telescope to monitor Jovian (Jupiter) radio emissions (as Io spouts volcanic dust toward Jupiter that lights-up the 15 MHz band with static), as well as 'listen' to Sunspots/Solar Flares. This book was referenced as a 'bible' to radio astronomers, so I bought it - spiral edition - so I can use it A LOT. Good spiral-recommendation. Lots of math/physics here. Lives up to its expectation. I am ham radio operator N3JQ, so this book has application to my amateur radio hobby too.

I spoke to Dr. Kraus once before his death and I knew his family well. It was neat to skim through his textbook. Always good to look at pictures of Big Ear.

In surprisingly, the book is very math heavy. It is a textbook, after all.

I highly recommend reading Dr. Kraus’s autobiography for anyone interested in the subject.
