We all enjoy Mike Venizia’a book. I just read this to my 7 yr old and she ran off to paint immediately after. My teens listened in and we are now planning a trip to the St. Louis Museum and are going to make our own scavenger hunt of Impressionist paintings.

Love it. Informative without overloading. And the little comics killed me. 😂😂

I love Monet. And I loved how this book shows some of his pictures. I'm not sure I love the narrative voice. Its not totally kid friendly and when it is, its a little condescending. However, I would definitely recommend this for an older toddler if you are prepping for a museum trip to France.

I like everything that Mr. Venezia does, but this one did not have enough funny cartoons. But I still learned about Monet.

I think the author does a nice job of talking about Claude Monet's life, showing some of his artwork, and then having comic cartoons of various moments in his life andpainting career.

While I have rated several titles in this series with four stars, this one didn’t seem to provide enough info on Monet for me given the large body of his work, perhaps it is because I know more about Monet than most other artists. The two things I did like were first a photo of the Cliff Walk Pourville and and very up close photo depicting the brush strokes of the two women in the painting. And I so enjoyed
Seeing Manet’s painting of Monet Working in His Floating Studio Argenteuil.
But this title is still a good beginning for children and the adult just beginning to look at art.

I really wanted to love it, since I love Monet, but I just couldn't. The book really skims things - which is expected for a kids' book - and I appreciated that it gave equal time to Impressionism as an art movement and how to "see" the paintings. I just wish there was a little bit more about Monet himself, since it's his name on the cover.

I like this series of book. I picked them up at the National Gallery of Art. I picked them out because I loved many of the paintings that I had seen there that day. They do have a lot of words that I don't read, I really just enjoy the pictures.

I've been really looking forward to this series on recommendation and while I love Monet, I'm not that crazy about the Venezia illustrations interspersed through out. I do like the biographical text, but I doubt I'll be interested in the others. *sigh*

My ten-year-old is in love with this book. She found it randomly at the school library, and ended up doing a very enthusiastic book report on it. Getting a ten-year-old to love impressionism is pretty impressive.

One of a series of books about artists I have purchased for my classroom. An easy read, it presents Monet and his most famous works.

My 10 year old son and I read every book in this series and loved them. A quick study of art history with fun illustrations and key images from each of the artist's repertoire.

A fun introductory bio for kids who aren't exactly dying to know more about artists. We'll turn to Venezia for more artist bios in the future

06/11: Didn't realize he began doing pencil caricatures and that some are on display at the Art Institute of Chicago.
