I like these We Both Read books, where the parent reads one page and the child reads the opposite page. Although, honestly, I don't see much difference at this reading level.

A lot of information about soccer. The game's history, rules, professional trophies, kids' leagues, famous players, practice techniques. A mix of photos and illustration.

Ironically, we just quit soccer because the pace was ruining our lives, but did you know that 17 year old Pele was the youngest player ever to play in the World Cup finals? The author says that once during a war in Nigeria, both sides stopped fighting so they could watch him play. WHA?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! We're going to youtube that man ;)
