Lots of stars because this works so well with a story time group. Very little text. Engaging illustrations. Just enough story. Be sure to invite your listeners to 'speak robot' with you. After you read the robot's words (in robot monotone, of course!) ask the children to be robots with you. Point to the words as you do. (This has been proven to help children with reading readiness-- http://www.npr.org/sections/health-sh... )
I'm adding this to my list of read books because I want to remember the author's name. His illustration style would work well for a book I've been writing.
This is one of my "new" favorite books, and it's actually a few years old! Joey and Jet are playing in space when Jet finds a bone and disappears. Joey travels around looking for Jet, asking robots and spaceships and even checking around plants. It is a visually appealing story told in short words and phrases. Great for the toddler/preschool crowd!
I love this book because it has minimal words, so it’s an easier read for youngsters. A fun story about a boy and his dog, traveling through space in his imagination. Love the illustrations too! Science fiction.
Joey and Jet is a fun book about a boy and his dog. Jet gets his bone lost in outer space and they go throughout space asking aliens, moons, planets, space ships and robots if anyone has seen his bone. Joey ends up hearing "Earth to Joey" and his mom is calling him back to earth for lunch. It is a funny and easy to read book. The pictures could easily engage a child to tell the story using his/her own words. I would use this book during large group to engage the children.

Joey and Jet was a big favorite of the boys when they were preschoolers. This is another with the same characters. They are a little old for the story now, but it was a great confidence builder for Max to read it to me. I liked the illustrations. The ending was a throw away ending, kind of lame, but still, a sweet little book.
This was the *star* of storytime tonight. The kids loved it when you had to turn the book to read the words. The pictures are lovely and the words sparse and typed nice and big.
Used this for a toddler storytime. They loved it. Simple story with great pictures. I did a little robot voice on one of the pages, just because I knew it would get a laugh.
This is a fun, quick read. If you need a speedy book before bed and your kid likes space or dogs, you are in luck. It isn't anything jaw-dropping, but it is simple and fun.
