"Seeing Ghosts through God's Eyes" documents the explosive rise of interest in ghosts, and how this is affecting tens of millions of Americans concept of spirituality. Despite the fact that ghosts have become ensconced in our culture and contributed to the change in the spiritual landscape in the last few years, the church and media have taken a dismissive posture towards this issue. But the main focus of the book is to answer the question: do ghosts exist? Science, logic, and a biblical worldview are used to analyze this question-a unique methodology is employed which unearths evidence and issues never before discussed. Comprehensive and compelling new paranormal and scientific evidence that answers beyond a reasonable doubt the question of whether ghosts exist. The author proposes an empirically verifiable hypothesis which would PROVE his perspective on ghosts. Lastly, titanic issues are at stake in this debate.
A wonderful book, very in-depth and deep. I have learned a lot about having a Biblical World View, as well as the fact that there are demons, but no ghosts. The book goes step by step, looking through a Biblical World View, to show why God would never leave people's souls stuck on earth. There are many shows and much interest, these days, on ghosts. They are quite misleading and this book is a helpful tool in getting to the bottom of the mystery.
I like the idea of this book, but did not like the writing or approach. I was hoping for an academic presentation on the topic from a religion perspective, but it lacked theological evidence. Scripture references are very thin, the section Scripture Jesus and Ghosts cites only five King James verses. However, none of the scriptures relate to ghosts or the dead. In one scripture reference, 1 Samuel 28, the author states, "God communicated with King Saul via a dead Samuel," but that script actually references the battle (nothing about anyone being dead or communication with the dead).
At the beginning of chapter three the author writes, "In case you...skipped ahead to read the ghost-specific sections, let me succinctly summarize the last chapter," he may have had an awareness that parts of his book are not compelling. That then leads to a tedious repeat of information from an already uninteresting first two chapters. The author makes assuptions that the reader does not understand the concept of worldview and says as much, "you may never heard of a worldview" and goes on to explain at length this basic concept, which leaves long stretches of text bothersome to read. I also noticed that he mentions malls frequently, so that made me wonder who he was writing for (people who live near malls maybe?).
If you are interested in ghosts, are christian, and don't demand too much from writing nor require evidence for arguements you might enjoy this book.
This is probably the most comprehensive book I've read to-date on this subject, and it's from a Christ- and God-centered perspective. The author tackles the topic from a variety of directions, some of which I'd never thought of. Even if a reader disagrees with his conclusion (I don't), he/she will find the questions the Mr. Hunnemann poses to be very thought-provoking and worth consideration.
Mr. Hunnemann puts things into perspective and explains ghosts in a way that isn't over anyone's head and in a very conversational tone. I highly recommend it!
