This book changed my life. I read it almost 25 years ago - it is an easy read. I had always been slim (UK 8-10) and pretty athletic, so I ate what I liked. I would have a danish pastry, egg & bacon on bloomer and a mocha most mornings! And I was fine - I was young, after all! But then I started a new job that started at 7am and found that I was mentally dull until about 10am! I decided to try it because my friend had raved about it. The first week was tough! My gut was totally unstable - I didn’t go to work on day 5! But by the end of it, I had disciples! Skin was glowing a as soft as a baby’s! The best thing was waking up early with a clear head. No grogginess. Stomach was flat as a board, my body was super lean, I had developed new habits, like drinking 2L of clean fluids a day, eating much more raw foods, understanding how my body responded to certain foods and felt light as a feather. I kept a lot of good habits over the following 25 years that have served me very well. She made some changes for the 2nd edition but I didn’t ever use that one. I recommend this for the discipline and the discovery alone. I learned to cook better as I was more conscious of different herbs and spices and I was much more curious and experimental after this. I don’t think I have ever purchased a pack of Pringles since then! This book took me way ahead of the ‘Ultra Processed Food is bad’ curve! I generated my own data points 25 years ago.
