Emergency Room doctor, Lucy Grey, thinks she has it all figured out. She has a great job, a flat in London, and a boyfriend who loves her. But one night at the hospital changes everything.
On impulse, she runs away to Koh Tao, a small island off the coast of Thailand, hoping to figure out what to do with her life.
What she hasn't bargained on is meeting dive instructor, Rudy. With big brown eyes, a lop-sided grin and a seriously sexy body, he instantly takes her breath away. He helps her escape into a new, underwater world, but, as they grow closer, Lucy is riddled with guilt.
Should she tell him about the boyfriend back home and her early mid-life crisis, or pretend to be someone she's not? When a storm hits the island, Lucy has to make a decision.
But Rudy has secrets of his own and secrets drive people apart...
Escape is approximately 50K in length.
Excerpt:
I should tell him about Max, she thought. It was wrong that he'd gone to all this effort and not know that she, albeit technically, still had a boyfriend back home. Because after all, Max was more than just a boyfriend. He wasn't someone she only saw on weekends; they lived and worked together and before this week, spent all their free time together. By her sitting here with Rudy, she was being unfair to both him and Max.
When had she turned into such a bitch?
Tears threatened, but she didn't know if they were because she felt bad about Max or because she hated the thought that after a few more days she would never see Rudy again.
"What's the matter?" Rudy asked, noticing she had fallen quiet.
I've got a boyfriend.
She looked into his face, willing herself to say the words. But they refused to come. Whatever her brain shouted, her mouth wouldn't comply. She simply couldn't imagine giving Rudy a reason to not want to spend time with her.
But Rudy didn't allow her the time to talk herself into telling him the truth. Instead, he leaned in toward her. He paused for a moment, searching her eyes.
Lucy's body seemed to have a mind of its own and she found herself leaning toward him, just a fraction of an inch, but enough to tell Rudy he was what she wanted, and he moved closer and kissed her.
His mouth pressed, soft and tentative, against hers. She tasted salt on his lips and the faint hint of wine. His hand slipped around the back of her head, twining his fingers in the base of her hair, pulling her toward him. She melted into the kiss, loosened by the wine, and all thoughts of Max left her head.
Rudy lowered her down into the sand. His hand moved from her hair and slid down her waist, coming to rest on her hip. His naked chest pressed against her breasts and her nipples hardened in response. His kiss grew deeper, his tongue gently teasing open her lips, finding her own, moist and warm.
Lucy moaned and sank deeper in the sand, and he crushed himself against her. His hand crept back up her body and he lifted himself slightly, his fingertips lightly trailing across her body, finding the swell of her breast and the sensitive nub of her nipple. He tweaked it lightly and heat spread down between her thighs.
The sensations suddenly filled her with panic. Realizing where she was and what she was doing, she sat up quickly and pushed him away, her palms pressing against his broad chest.
"No, I can't," she said, her cheeks burning. "I'm sorry."
PLEASE NOTE: ALTHOUGH THIS BOOK CONTAINS EROTIC ELEMENTS IT IS NOT EROTICA.
I read this one after a heavy and emotional book, and it's just what need. It's a light and simple romance. It comes off as a little harlequin-esque...not that that is a bad thing.
Twice the narrator describes the mans hair as 'soft as mole's skin'. Um ok. I don't want to ever touch a mole. This must be some kind of British thing...lol
Lucy Grey is a doctor who is lost. She isn’t happy with her life. Her relationship isn’t what she wants anymore, and her job isn’t what she thought it would be. So, she takes a trip to get away by herself. She goes to a remote island resort and takes diving lessons. The author makes Lucy do things completely against her character. She definitely needs shaken up in order to see what is important and what is not. Rudy is a dive instructor that catches her eye. However, she won’t do anything about it until he makes the first move volunteering to be her partner. He is attracted to her which surprises Lucy. Guys like Rudy usually don’t go after girls like her. It is sad that she views herself in that light. She is afraid to go after anything out of her safe comfort zone. She causes herself more issues and heartache as a result. Rudy has his own issues and secrets. The reader is left in the dark with Lucy until later, but you see his inner battle when it comes to her. I liked that Lucy was smart and a doctor. I wish she could be bolder and have more faith in herself. It was a good read. It was a quick relationship with instant sparks. So, the reader is just along for the ride. I give it a 3.5 out of 5.
Lucy runs to Thailand away from the hospital and her boyfriend. She is a doctor and things start to bother her. She tries to tell Max her boyfriend, but he doesn’t really listen. He is a doctor as well. Once she arrives at the resort she mets up with Rudy who is the dive instructor. She likes the view and knows she is going to like the lessons. No one at the resort knows she is a doctor so she plays herself off as someone else. Things start to heat up and twists and misunderstandings start taking over.
I enjoyed this quick read. It has a bit of everything some readers want, romance, mystery and suspense. The characters we well done and I found myself not liking a few characters to end up liking them towards the end. The writing style is pretty good as the setting makes you want to go to Thailand for the food and your very own vacation.
This was a good story. It was engaging from the first page. It was a nice, light romance. The budding romance was fun to read. Lucy hadn't wanted to meet anyone, but sometimes you just can't help falling for someone on vacation.
Lucy's escape from London was interesting. We don't get to know right away what drove her away, but it was interesting to see it all unfold. She doesn't talk about her work much but ends up using her doctor skills to help out on her trip
The only thing I didn't care for was that Lucy had a boyfriend back in London. But that is a personal preference, it did make some scenes hard for me to get into but once I could put him out of my head, I was able to enjoy the rest of the story.
I received this from the author in exchange for an honest opinion.
Lucy Grey is a hospital doctor who after a bad incident in her ER decides to go on vacation to a resort in Thailand. She's unhappy with her life and leaves her boyfriend Max behind, because she knows it's over between them, but she hasn't a clue how to end it. She meets dive instructor Rudy and her world suddenly becomes even more confusing. Will this be a resort romance or will this change her life forever?
This was a well written story. You can almost feel the turmoil of the characters. I highly recommend the book to those who love a good romance book.
A short read based In Thailand, A doctor whoose not sure with what direction her life is headed and a hot diver living life as it comes. Smexy scenes and a connection between the two characters, an enjoyable read, filled with mystery and suspense and a little bit of loving. Recomended read if your after something fast and intriguing !! Settings in book are ideal, makes you want to take your own holiday !!
I thought this was an amazing short, and easy read. The characters are so easy to relate to, and I felt myself wearing the emotions that they did. I was afraid this was going to be a cheasy romance, but I'm happy to find that I felt it to be very real, and probable. I was not able to shut my kindle off with this one, and was sad when it ended.
Every girl needs an easy read, swoon worthy romance every so often. And this fit the bill nicely. The story is really engaging & I loved the main characters. There is even a little hotness to keep you happy ;)
hmm I really liked this book, but i thought Lucy, as intelligent as she was supposed to be really had a hard time figuring out what was going on; she was quite selfish and i had a hard time liking her.
Nice story about finding what you really want, and coming to terms with the fact your life isn't what you thought it would be. It's a good beach read. Flows pretty well, and easy to read.
