Do you believe in ghosts? I'd consider myself sceptical but open-minded and willing to take a look at any evidence to support their existence. That's why this book was interesting to me.

It is a short book, around 40 pages of print, including photos including unexplained orbs and mists. The photos were largely taken by the late Jack Grant, an American civil war buff, around the Gettysburg battlefield. The author includes stories of strange happenings, explains the locations of the photos and details of the civil war battles fought at the various locations and provides some useful information for anyone planning on visiting the area.

I know very little about the civil war so found the details of the battles enlightening, and was interested in the comments on the pictures and equipment used. However some of the photos aren't clear on the kindle's black and white display and I felt like I was missing something. Did they convince me that ghosts do exist and that they'd been captured on film - not exactly, I would need a little more information ruling out other causes, but they certainly got me wondering.

If you are planning a trip to the area or have a general interest in the subjects covered this is a good little book, although a colour version would probably be a better bet.

Fun, little book. I read it on my kindle too so the pictures didn't show up well. I liked the detailed history of the area and how the author gave direction as to location of the pictures. I live 30 miles away so I just may go and check it out!

Complete waste of time. A bunch of lame orb pics, a couple of misty pics, and a bit of exposition and mapless directions to where the photos were taken. It wasn't even worth the free price tag. If you're a ghost hunting aficionado, don't bother with this one.

I needed a light easy read while waiting to go into a class today. This fit the bill. A couple shares their pictures of orbs and other "could be" pictures, while sharing stories about The Gettysburg battles. Are they real? Who knows, but the what ifs are fun.

I really enjoyed this book.

This book scratched two topics that intrigue me. Now, I'll have to visit for myself. For history buffs and ghost hunters alike.

If you are a history buff and an avid traveler, then I would recommend this book to you. For me, this publication was a mixed bag with elements that I liked and others that could have been omitted. Firstly, I really loved the cover design. The eerie photo hints at the book’s paranormal content and the fusion of the antique-style letter below was a nice touch. And to tie it all together, the fonts were very appropriate for the theme. I could seriously picture this book as a handsome hardcover edition on a coffee table display.

In terms of how the book was written, this is where it is debatable: I could tell that the author is someone in tuned to nature and the great outdoors; it was clear that she had a great appreciation for this famous historical place. I could feel her great reverence for the battlefield and for the history of her country and all the discussion of life, death, and war really makes you think… I liked the personal touch as she recounts her experiences with her husband and other relatives. However, I felt that the descriptions of how to get to each location were a bit too frequent and tedious. While this information would be helpful to someone travelling to Gettysburg, I thought she should have included the directions in a separate section near the end of the book. Instead, I would have preferred maps. And as for the “ghost orb” photos, I am a complete novice with a camera, so I have no clue what to make of these shots. I can’t really say whether they look real or fake. All in all, I’ll have to say that this book was okay for me.

This was a very nice, short book about Civil War battlefield ghosts / orbs. The pictures were clear for the most part, and whether you believe in the supernatural or not, they showed some intriguing anomalies. I like that different cameras were used at the spots photographed so that it wasn't just one camera messing up all the time.
The book includes a nice section of history for the particular battlefield or spot in question. Most books assume you either know a lot of the history, or will go research it one your own. It's nice that a short lesson is included. If you are interested then you have a reference for names to go research for more in depth information.
My favorite part of the book is that it tells not only which battlefield to go to but also gives specific directions to where each photo was taken. I do not know if things like specific trees are still there or not, but it's very nice to have the ability to get as close as possible if you want to try to recreate the photos yourself. I have never had the chance to visit Gettysburg, but when I do, I would like to be able to take along this book and see if I can visit these spots myself. I just hope that the ghosts don't decide to break my reading device like they broke the cameras!

A short but interesting book. The author shares several photos taken at Gettysburg battle sites by her husband. They span different times and types of cameras. You'll see mists and orbs of different shapes, sizes and textures. The author also shares the history of the location of the photo and directions for how to get there yourself. The kindle version isn't the best for viewing the photos, but I'll check them again when my kindle fire arrives. I find ghost hunters fascinating, but I'm always skeptical of the supposed evidence. This seems to be an honest description of a family's experiences, but who knows what was really captured on film and digitally.

I enjoyed this book (read on Tablet, so photos looked great). The narrative is spectacular if you're into ghost stories, history, the Civil War, or planning a trip to Gettysburg. I had visited once as a young teen and would love to go back. While I've never had lens flares, etc. with film cameras, I cannot easily judge how real the photos are. There are a few notes where the author had asked photographers for explanations of certain photos, and the professionals were unable to explain. I do love a good ghost story, so I'm happy to believe that the photos are real. I'd love to see more ghosts of war books written in a similar fashion to this.

I think Kindle does a disservice to this book due to the black and white nature of the photos. In some ways in seemed like a car directional guide to a few of Gettysburg's famous battle sites. A few broken cameras does nothing to give me credence to a haunting nor does a few dots and misty photos. I get those everyday, maybe my house is haunted.

I believe the sight of Gettysburg lives with the horrors of the past, just not the same way the Grant's do. It is nice to see a couple enjoy an interest so much together though.

Short but informative book. Love the photos and history. The author also provides directions to each place, which will be great for those who can travel that area.

I have always loved learning about the Civil War. As skeptical as I am that the orbs and etc in this book are actually ghosts, it was great learning more civil war history.
