While the plot is a very intriguing one and the character of Charlene is a believable one, the story is not developed enough to be considered a paranormal romance. 1.5 Stars.

Although the eNovella needs a lot of work, the story itself is very interesting and it brings up some thought provoking issues. As a bonus, there is some poetry throughout the story.

The writing style is different - the result is a kind of choppy flow. And, my goodness, is it depressing as written!

There is the basis for a romance between Benjamin and Charlene and Jessie and Charlene connect online but there is no real romance in the story in either instances.

There is a lot going on in this 82 page novella to/around Charlene:
Jessie, met online, long distance online relationship, professes love
Sarah, Jessie's ex, considering suicide, Charlene's mission
David, landlord, sometimes seems interested in Charlene
Benjamin, another demon, intentions unknown until end
Father, left when she was 3, shows up in her section at work
Delmara, Charlene's mentor and angel
Adam, stepfather and father of Charlene's child
Unknown figure, after a break in at her apt, seen hiding in trees
Lucifer even has a cameo appearance
Charlene unintentionally possesses Sarah's body

Paranormal and urban fantasy fans may like this story.

My Thoughts: (I gave the book 3.5 Stars)

I really did enjoy the whole plot of Demon Girl. I love getting to read the book written from Charlene's POV. The story starts out where you meet Charlene and she meets a guy names Jesse while online after posting her poems in a online forum. Jesse and Charlene are falling in love but Charlene is hiding a dark secret that only she and God himself knows. She is a demon, well only part time... bond to live half her life as one cause forever because of a very wrong choice she made a year ago. She has lost her self, and everyone she loves... now Charlene must help others selflessly make the better choice to help redeem herself. Between finding a way to tell Jessie who she really is, someone comes back into her life who she thought she would never see again, but why? Later Charlene meet someone who is like her "a demon" but how does he fit into all of this? Feeling more lost than ever about her life and what is going on...will Charlene ever tell Jesse who she really is and when she does will he still love her? She also does not know what her own heart feels anymore.
I found the story line of the book very interesting and the character's well written. I would have liked to known more back information on Charlene and her family but other than that it was very good. Demon Girl was a fast read with only 81 pages, but as novella goes that is normal. The story had a nice ending but was kind of fast paced in the end and made me like of want more, like there should have been more to it, or another book? Other than that I really enjoyed the book and I think it is a great short read for anyone who likes paranormal romance novels. Lisa did a great job with this book and I think we will be seeing more books from her in the future.

I struggled with how to review this because the honest truth is that I’m not sure that it warrants three stars. There are some really good points such as the plot is rather unique and interesting and the writing style itself distinctive with a poetic feel. The potential is really there, visible and almost touchable and that‘s why I ended up giving this a three star.

The problem with the book lays in the fact that the characters weren’t fully developed and the layout of the plot was choppy. There was too much to the plot to try to pack into such a small read. The potential for greatness is there though and I could easily see why the publishers picked up this book but it feels more like a roughed draft.

I started reading again after a long time.So I had to find my way again. I got a copy of this story from the author in exchange for an honest review.

This book had me confused at some points. In the beginning, almost untill the final champter there were a lot of questions that weren't awnsered. And in the last chapter everything is explained. So I sometimes find it difficult to wait untill the final chapter, until everything makes sense. But when I read the last chapter everything that I've read before clicked into place.

I tought it was a good short read.
