B.J. Daniels started her life in Houston, Texas, before her family moved to Montana at age five. She grew up in a cabin in the Gallatin Canyon near Big Sky and later on Hebgen Lake near West Yellowstone. Because of her love for Montana, most of her books are set there. Born into a storytelling family, all she'd ever wanted to do was write stories. After a career as an award-winning newspaper journalist, she wrote and sold 37 short stories before she finally wrote her first book, ODD MAN OUT. Since then she has won numerous awards including a career achievement award for romantic suspense. She lives in Montana with her husband, Parker, two Springer Spaniels. When she isn't writing, she quilts, boats and. makes rope/fabric baskets. She always reads, loving to lose herself in a good book.
All three stories were good. The suspense was excellent. In the first I found I was having a harder time than usual connecting with the heroine, but I think that was because of the shortness of the story. I really liked her friend Luke. In the second, I liked the way they worked together, even though Alex was trying to keep Leah at arm's length. The action in dealing with the serial killer kept me turning the pages as fast as I could read. The third story had my favorite characters. Julie Miller writes a terrific Marine hero, and I loved the way he worked to keep Kylie safe while letting her do her job.

Great set of novellas with an over-arching story that spanned all three. If you expect to have each story wrapped up in night neat packages, please don't read. Each story has its own plot but the overall serial killer arch is introduced in the first story, developed in the second and finally resolved in the third. Great collaboration between very successful writers and well worth reading IMHO.
Three connected romantic suspense stories set in a lakeside community in the dead of winter, with one or more serial killers on the loose :)
Gone Cold by BJ Daniels -- Two and a half stars Morgan and Tom married in haste and the remote Ice Lake is the perfect honeymoon location for these two lovebirds. Or possibly the location for the perfect crime?
Cold Heat by Delores Fossen -- Three stars Leah and Alex were lovers until he became her FBI supervisor. But the flames were merely banked, not extinguished...
Stone Cold by Julie Miller -- Three stars Daniel gets roped into helping Kylie (who's deputy sheriff) track down a killer at the resort.
The circumstances give the characters a chance to reveal their deeply hidden feelings for each other. The stories tie together well, and the book is a good, undemanding read.
This book has three different authors/stories that all flow together perfectly. B. J Daniels, Delores Fossen and Julie Miller all are terrific authors..In all honesty it seemed that only one author wrote the stories, that is how good they flowed together..I loved each story and wish I could give a 5 star for each story.I couldn't put the book down as I had to see what happened next..A Very good read!!
these 3 ladies did an amazing job with this book.its about a winter resort that gets snowed in a honeymoon couple and she wonders if she can trust her new husband and two serial killers that are stranded there also.a book well worth reading in the winter weather...a must read.........loved it
Mom and I loved this anathology. Can we say though that we both feel that there needs to be a different name for an anthology that is intertwined. For example this books stories have different authors and each author has details that intertwine with each other stories meaning they had to but some effort in while writing their stories to keep the others in the loop so that could make them all work together and not fall apart. Maybe there is a different name, but if there is not we feel there should be because you had to just put a little more effort into making these kind of stories intertwine. Just saying. (P.S. You can read these stories separately.) Anyway Gone Cold by BJ Daniels is the whole reason mom bought this anathology. And boy-oh-boy did this book not disappoint! It was so wacky good read. Oh the suspense of who murdered who was just awesome. Again the romance seemed on the back burner, but honestly me and mom were okay wth that. Cold Heart by Delores Fossen was good. Again the locked in with the killer was really thrilling and this had way more chemistry between the hero and the heroine. It also was one of the few times mom could stand them knowing each other and not feel like she had misssed out on everything. Stone Cold by Julie Miller was the last and felt the most like a romance, with still some greater thriller in it. The end seemed a little crazy sauce but was a whole boat load of fun! A really great anthology and worth the read!
This absolutely terrifying, nearly tragic love story is perfect in every way. Loved it!
Cold Heat by Delores Fossen
This is a really great story. It is strong and terrifying! I loved these characters and this plot.
Stone Cold by Julie Miller
I loved this one too. It is really terrific how these three authors came together and wrote three entwined mystery/romance stories that are so different. Really well done.
Three romantic suspense stories that are quick to read. They all have a wintry setting and a killer on the loose. My favorite was Gone Cold by B.J. Daniels. I always love her books. The other two were very enjoyable as well with a good plot.
The action starts early. Deputy Kylie responds to the lodge with Daniel. A body was found, the second killer was still at the lodge. The suspense kicks up near the end. Never suspected who the killer was.
All three stories had a decent amount of suspense. The last two had more romance than the first one. The second story, Cold Heat is my favorite of the three. The last story was the hardest to get into for me. However, once I got interested I really enjoyed it. I would rank the stories in the following order. Cold Heat (Cold Heat Review: I enjoyed Cold Heat better than Gone Cold. There was more romance than the first story. Also, the prose had a sense of humor to it that Gone Cold did not. The characters were better developed. I was pulled in to all aspects of this story.)
Stone Cold (Stone Cold Review: This last story added an element that the other two stories did not. The author gave us insight to the character of the second strangler. The insight given gives clues to the readers of his identity before the Deputy figures it out for herself. While the added insight was appreciated, and I enjoyed it better than Gone Cold, it still failed to hold my attention as well as Cold Heat.)
and Gone Cold (Gone Cold Review: Gone Cold was straight forward suspense from the first page. Morgan's new husband Tom gets a text message that has her concerned and she slowly realizes that she knows very little about the man she recently married. I enjoyed the suspense of the first story as it kept the pace and makes it easy to finish the almost 100 page suspense story.)
The best feature of all three stories is the collaboration all three authors had done to get details of an overall larger story throughout. Even though Gone Cold didn't actually take place at the lodge, the author was still careful to leave hearsay details that hinted at the bigger picture. Overall, this book was a good read and one I would consider reading again. I acquired this book by borrowing it from the library.
The three stories of this collection were quick and easy reads with a bit of romance mixed in. The shared location of a ski resort dealing with murderers linked them together nicely. The short length of each story made it difficult for the characters to develop enough for me to connect with them. The suspense of the stories had varying success. The first story, Gone Cold, felt more removed from the other two, as it didn't deal with the same criminals. It was the one that kept me guessing the most, but also had the least romance. In an attempt to further connect the first story to the others, the author included a minor run-in between the main character and the killers from the other stories. Unfortunately, this meant that there was virtually no suspense for me as a reader during the second story, Cold Heat, as I already knew which character was the murderer. The final book, Stone Cold, was more successful than the others at establishing a backstory for the romantic leads' relationship. It was also the best at developing the villain and giving him a believable motive. I wasn't very happy with the ending, however. Although the book continually attempts to establish that Kylie is a capable and skilled police officer, there is not much evidence given of this, and through her own mistakes, she ends up needing to be rescued by Daniel. I would have much preferred an ending that was not so reliant on one person rescuing another. I would recommend this book to people looking for a very quick read with a little bit of romance and a relatively simple suspense plot.

Three novellas take place at Ice Lake Resort in winter in Montana. Morgan Sinclair and her new husband are planning a honeymoon weekend there, but Morgan is becoming more and more suspicious of Tom. He is vague about his past and the background her best friend Luke has found puts her in danger. Luke rushes after Morgan at the height of a raging blizzard. The second novella finds 2 FBI agents, Leah Grey and Alex McCabe, at the same resort where a serial strangler is hiding out. Leah is the last victim who managed to escape and he wants to finish the job. Ten men fit the profile and they need to determine who it is before he strikes again. In the last novella the stranglers partner attempts to take over the killing. Deputy Sheriff Kylie Webber, her PTSD ex-boyfriend, and her brother (members of the Search and Rescue Team) try to find the killer while keeping a resort full of tourists safe from the blizzard and threat of avalanche. High action and drama.
I truly enjoyed this book. It's a series of 3 short stories that take place over about a week at Ice Lake. I highly recommend this to anyone who likes mysteries and a little guessing. I did end up figuring it out in the end, but it wasn't totally predictable. (Which I like) I don't do spoiler reviews at all, but I will say that this is one that is well worth the read!!
