Keifer was such an entertaining MMC 😂😂😂. He had the funniest attitude during the prank war, and was such a sweet puppy overall 🥰.
*The female narrator’s guy voices were a bit off putting though as she kinda made them sound juvenile, like teenage guys.

Rye Linden arranges for her best friend Dara Palmer, new to town, to make the cake for her stepson’s wedding. With a bit too much to drink, Dara and a handsome stranger decide to have a one-night-stand, then he disappears on a 2-month business trip. They had not exchanged names, so contact is not possible.
Continuing to help Dara out, Rye provides a place for her to stay which happens to be next door to her mystery man, Keifer Hawthorn. He immediately upon his return home thinks she is stalking him. What a book I loved it. Callie has written yet another great book.
Keifer and Dara characters have chemistry from from the off, Dara is a baker at Keifer brother and best friend wedding there hit it off straight away no spoilers see how there relationship pans out with pranks and grumpy asshole behaviour it will make you smile.
Fingers crossed Oliver has a book the shy older brother🙏 4 1/2 ⭐️.

I love this book series.

Callie Stevens has written a 5-star book. This is the story of Dara and Keifer. Dara's friend Rye has gotten her a job doing a wedding cake for her brother and his fiance. She is at the reception finishing up the cake when they come in to see it. Rye tells her to come out to the reception when she is done. Keifer is at the reception when he gets a phone call from Cass. He takes the call since he will be leaving on a business trip the next day to go and see Cass. Dara has gone out to the reception and is standing out of the way just watching everyone. Keifer has come back inside and is looking for someone to hook up with for the night when he sees a woman standing off to the side. He catches her eye and starts walking toward her. They introduce themselves as Eve and Adam. They spend the rest of the night together at the reception. When they leave, they go to her apartment and sleep together. The next morning, Adam is gone when she wakes up. She looks around for a note but finds nothing. Things happen and Raye offers her the house that Rye's husband Ash owns. It is next door to Keifer and she accepts. She doesn't know that Keifer is Adm.She gets a notice on her phone that she is late and she is worried thinking she is never late. She thinks back to her time with Adam and realized they didn't use protection. She goes and gets a few pregnancy tests. She goes home and takes them and they all come back positive. She calls Rye and tells her. Keifer comes home after being gone for three months and sees the lights on in the house next door and knows no one should be in there since his father owns it. He goes to check things out and when the door is opened, he sees Eve and things do not go well. He tries to get her to leave with the offer of some money but she tells him no. Dara is shocked to see Adam standing at her door but she doesn't tell him that she is pregnant because of the way he reacted to seeing her. He starts doing things to try and run her out but she gives just as good as he gives. Somehow they end up sleeping together again after one of his pranks and this starts a pattern for them. Dara is busy working and trying to open her bakery with Rye. Keifer is with her when she passed out and he takes her to the hospital and this is where he finds out she is pregnant. He walks away from her and she decides that she doesn't want to have him around if he doesn't want to be there. They end up talking and he tells her he will be there for the baby. Keifer has thought about Dara and wants to be with her but things from his past are keeping him from letting her know how he feels about her. Dara has an appointment with her doctor and Keifer goes with her and this is when they find out they are having twins. It is a shock to them both but Keifer doesn't seem happy about it. When he drops her off, he just leaves. She is hurt by this and she calls Rye and tells her she is having twins and Dara finally tells her who the father is. Rye is upset about Dara keeping it a secret but tells Dara she would be over the next day. When Rye gets there the next day, they have a long talk and Dara is told that she would not be alone in doing things. While they are talking, someone knocks on her door and calls out her name. It is Keifer and when Dara sees who it is, Rye tells her that she needs to talk to him and that she would leave out the back. When Dara opens the door, Keifer asked if they could talk. She lets him in and he tells her about his past. She tells him that she doesn't expect anything from him. He tells her that he is there for the babies whenever or whatever she needs from him.
Will Dara and Keifer finally tell each other how they feel and work things out between them?
This was a wonderful book and I would recommend it to anyone.

This was another quick fun listen in this series. I think I enjoyed the previous book a little bit more, simply because the main characters in this book were so incredibly immature for their ages. Kiefer was 27, yet he kept claiming "youngest sibling" status to justify his lack of direction when it came to his view on relationships. It was obvious that he could maintain a level of maturity and clear thinking by the mere fact that he held a successful executive position in his family's company.

Also, I realize that that as this entire series is based on surprise pregnancy, there is going to be a decided lack of condoms. BUT, the main characters in this story were SO massively unsafe about their intended one night stand! They were complete strangers to each other (in previous books the two at least had some sort of connection to each other) and they never planned to see each other again. However, they had unprotected sex several times during their first night together with absolutely no discussion about their birth control or STI status.
Dara was supposed to be this hard working, business oriented woman starting her own bakery, but she's not even taking her birth control on a regular basis. Kiefer, who is worth millions of dollars and has trust issues with women, doesn't think to wrap it up. It also seems like he may play fast and loose like this with other women, because at another point in the book where he's yet again had unprotected sex with Dara, he tells her that he will pay for the Plan B pills. It just made no sense for these two to be so smart in one area of their lives, but completely stupid and immature in another.
All of my ranting aside, however, I liked how the HEA worked out in the end and that they were finally able to get on the same page. I just didn't particularly like them as people lol.

I have been anxiously waiting to read Secret Daddy Next Door. This is the third book in The Hawthorns Series and Keifer's story did not let me down. It was definitely worth the wait. The books in this series have all been so good that I can't even say I like one more than the other. What I love most about this series by Callie Stevens is the fact everyone one of these books are like an extension of the other and just add on to the ever revolving Hawthorns saga. While you could read this as a standalone you will have a much better reading experience if you begin with the first book. The one thing you can count on from The Hawthorns Series is the fact these men have a thing for unexpected pregnancies.
Keifer meets Dara at this brother and best friends wedding. There are sparks flying off of these two from the moment their eyes meet. A few drinks later and lots of flirting find them leaving the wedding unexpectedly to have an unforgettable one night stand. The only problem with this plan is the gift they leave behind that will be delivered in nine months. Things take a turn for the worse when suddenly they become neighbors. Keifer is absolutely horrible to her, but to Dara's credit she gives it right back to him because two can play that game. Dara has dreams of opening her own bakery shop, but things just got a little more difficult with a baby on the way. Will she end up being a single parent or will Keifer step up and commit to being a father leaving behind his single life? These are just a few of things that keep Dara up at night.

With a family like the Hawthorns, like father, like son (times two). This is a fun little surprise pregnancy, "enemies" to lovers vibe story!
Dara was driven and likable, but she wasn't expecting to be expecting, so soon in her life. Much less with a random one night stand! I liked Dara, she has her life planned out and is determined to do things on her own. She has a passion for baking and would like to open her own bakery, and is avoiding using her best friend, Rye's funds to do it.
Kiefer, I liked him in the other books, but in this one, he had some work to do. I started liking him (again) towards the second half of the story, so hold out hope for him!
Dara and Kiefer had amazing chemistry! I liked their scenes together!
I do wish the blurb was a little different. I think it, compared to the story, don't quite fit together. It's a good blurb, and it's one of the reasons I (metaphorically) picked up the book, but I do wish for a little change to it to fit the story better.

The narrators were wonderful! They've narrated the previous books in the series and they still do a great job getting into these characters and bringing them to life!! The female narrator narrates Dara's chapters and the male narrates Kiefer's chapters. I listened at 1.2x speed.

But after one single night playing Adam with his "Eve", he can't seem to get her out of his mind. A few weeks later she turns up living next door to him and he begins to wonder why and if he should run for the hills so the past doesn't repeat itself.
Dara is new to Chicago and only wants to find a way to work towards her future dream of owning her own bakery and working with her best friend. She lets go a little one night only with a man who she only knows as Adam. Only Adam disappears without a trace and leaves her with a responsibility that will change her future in ways she was not planning for. Then he shows up weeks later as her next door neighbor. Only she can't tell him what happened after the way he treats her and attempts to force her to leave.
Can these two star crossed lovers find a way to a future after a single night together has left them both with a changed life ahead? Can they work together to not let their past experiences taint what could be right in front of them?
I really like this story as it continues to saga of the The Hawthorns and look forward to the last two men in the family and see how the fall. I would really recommend this book and the entire series to be read.

Dara Palmer is best friends with Rye Hawthorn. Losing her parents, Dara moves to Chicago to hopefully open a bakery. Rye asks her to bake for the wedding of June and Jared. Not able to pass up that kind of money, she does and ends up drinking a little too much and ends up hooking up with “Adam” (Keifer). Keifer is getting ready to head to the west coast for a 2-month assignment for his father’s company. Seeing Eve (Dara), he is taken in by her beauty and they have a very good night. Leaving the next morning without a note, neither knows who they really are.
Dara ends up moving into the house next to Keifer and when he returns, he loses it when he thinks that Dara is stalking him. Talk about some childish behavior on Keifer’s part! He starts pulling pranks on Dara, not knowing that she is pregnant with his child. She decides not to tell him due to his behavior and she will just raise the child on her own. When one of his pranks goes a little too far, he finds out and realizes that Dara hasn’t told him for a reason – he knows he is not good enough for her.
Plenty of secrets, lots of drama, and tons of steam! Will Adam and Eve be able to find their way back to each other? And what will the family think when they find out Keifer is going to be a father? And how will Rye feel when she finally learns the truth?

What a fabulous read this book was, it started with a passionate, steamy one night stand at a wedding where they could not, literally, keep their hands and everything else off each other. They didn’t exchange numbers, hell they didn’t even give each other their real names.
Fast forward a few weeks Dara moves into a house belonging to her best friend Rye and her husband Ash, the only other house in the cul de sac has been empty in the time she has been there unpacking and settling in, she gets a knock on the door one day and on opening it, she is absolutely shocked to see her one night stand guy, on the other side, he is equally absolutely floored and immediately thinks she is stalking him! Keifer cannot believe she is living in this house and wants her out, he doesn’t believe that this is not stalking.
So begins a very rocky relationship between Keifer and Dara, but can they keep their insane chemistry in check, is there more to their growing relationship than just physical.
Loved the evolution of the main characters, really enjoyed the building story with all of the supporting characters, and felt that the author gave us plenty of interest with a couple of background stories to support decisions and behaviours.
I highly recommend reading Secret Daddy Next Door

This is the 3rd story in The Hawthorns Series and the journey Keifer takes to finding love will have its ups and downs. Dara has just moved to town and her best friend, Rye gets her a job making desserts for an event where she meets a beautiful sexy man, Keifer, who makes a move on her and they never share names or personal details. Dara is excited to start over and saving to open her own bakery and along the way she accepts help from Rye with a place to stay. After 2 peaceful months and coming to terms with her pregnancy her only neighbor is home, meeting with shock it’s her mystery man from the wedding and knowing common people. Keifer automatically thinks Dara is a stalker and starts with one mischievous stunt after another, driving Dara crazy. Keifer gets enjoyment with his stunts and Dara realizes she can not share her secret with him if he’s going to try and push her out of her new home. Dara gives back when she can and they end up having angry time together until one prank goes too far with Dara in the hospital and Keifer discovering her secret. These two learn to speak with one another and figure out how to move forward. Many special moments occur and when they admit their true feelings they have a chance to become a loving couple with happiness and family supporting them. I adore everything I've ever read from this author, but this may be my favorite book to date. The main male character is not the typical hero - he's a bit of a brat. But a lovable one. Most of the time.

A wonderful story. I couldn't put it down until I finished it. Callie Steven's is one of my favorite authors. I love reading her books. I loved the characters. This author is an incredible storyteller!! And, you will love this series.

I loved the dual narration of Melissa Connell and Scott R. Smith
Dara is new to town. Her friend Rye Linden gets her to make the cake for her stepson’s wedding. While at the wedding Dara gets tipsy. Dara and a handsome stranger decide to have a one-night-stand. The next morning he then he disappears to go on a two month business trip. Neither of them exchanged names, or numbers so contact is not possible.
Dara moves into a new place to live. Settling in, it after a couple of months that she meets her neighbour. Keifer Hawthorn her mystery one night stand. Keifer thinks she is stalking him. So being childish he pulls pranks on her to annoy her. While Keifer is playing his silly games Dara discovers she is pregnant from their night together. Dara chooses not to tell him because his silly behaviour. One of Keifer's pranks end with Dara in hospital. It is then Keifer releases how much of fool he is.
Can these two find common ground and may them see what could be.

Dara and Rye are best friends and when Rye asked Dara to make a cake for her stepson’s wedding she did. Rye wants her to join the family and bring everyone, but Keifer who takes a call to meet Dara. Dara final gets to go out to the reception. She is wearing an emerald V-neck dress and Keifer goes to her, they both don't know the other person. They spend the night together and call each other Eve and Adam and Adam (Keifer) has to leave before he can talk to Eve(Dara). He has gone on a business trip for two months and comes back to find Dara living in the house next to him. Which doesn’t go over, and Dara decides not to tell him. She finds out that she is pregnant while he is gone and doesn’t know how to get in touch with him. When he decides that he is going to get her to leave the cul-de-sac as he doesn’t want and one live the house next to him. His pranks cause Dara to pass out and he take he to the hospital to find out she is pregnancy with his child. What will he do run or stay?.

This book doesn’t fit into nowadays expectations of enemies to lovers more like early 2000’s enemies to lovers where they would pranks occasionally then hooked up ( p.s. they don’t really hate each other).I love how their besties so supportive ( June & Rye) I kinda annoyed with how Dara made low blow comments about Rye’s privileges meanwhile Rye was nothing but supportive and understanding ( I LOVE RYE!!). I am glad Dara could over a bit of her insecurities at the end of the book also I admired how she stay strong and independent after all storms in her life. For Keifer, he need therapy for traumatic experiences and I am glad that he open up to Dara about it. This family truly sweets and the kids melt my heart ( PIPER & IVY ). It gonna be awesome of Piper and Ivy could get their own books!!. Overall i devour and enjoy this book.

This is the third book in The Hawthorn's series, but can be read as a standalone. Dara and Keifer will take you on a wild ride with lots of chemistry, angst and drama. They met at a wedding, and their explosive chemistry and insta attraction resulted in a one-night stand. She only knew him as 'Adam' and he considered her his 'Eve'. Then poof, he was gone without a word. Imagine both their surprise when they realize two months later that they're neighbors. Even though he hasn't been able to forget her, he's not happy that she's his neighbor. He thinks she's stalking him, and his fear of commitment comes into play. This lovers to enemy and back to lovers romance will keep you page turning and wanting more. What happens when he finds out she is expecting twins? A great book with a fun and engaging story line. This was a Fantastic book delving back into the worlds of the Hawthorns.
I wasn't sure how Keifer's story would go. He was such a laid back non commital guy, but when it came to his best friend June--he protective streak came out big time.
It felt like one of those magic moments when Keifer and Dara. It was a fun, sexy twist referring to themselves as Adam and Eve. Their story was full of friends, lovers, enemies, fake enemies, lovers, and everything in between.
I found myself turning and burning through page after page. If you are looking for a story that has it all-You have come to the right place!!
It has shared history, family co-mingling, true best friends, love, support, laughter-the baniter between these two is EPIC!! It lets them both out of their shell to move past what they both thought possible.

This was Enemies to Lovers and surprise baby Trope.
This was an easy to read book. I really enjoyed reading this book.
Dara had ambitions but not always so Confident.
Keifer was a playboy that wasn't ready to settle.
They both have an amazing one night stand, without knowing each others name.
Through events Dara moves into a house which by chance is next to Keifer. Despite both of them not able to forget each other, their second meeting doesn't go so well. Ending up being enemies and pranking each other.
I did think Keifer was being mean but it makes sense why he did what he did.
There's a fine line between hate and love, these two find that out.
But Dara is hiding a secret. What will Keifer do when he finds out? Can they be friends or Lovers again?
The characters grow throughout the book and were relatable.
This book had humour, pranks, family love, emotional moments and some steam. A great feel good book.

I have been looking forward to reading Kiefer's story especially since the last book in the series.
Kiefer and Dara meet at his brother's wedding and are instantly attracted to each other.They don't find out who the other is.
Their attraction leads them to a one night stand.Kiefer leaves in the morning wihout a backword glance.
He goes off on a business trip for a couple of months when he comes back he is shocked to find out he has new neighbour.
It is none other than Dara,he thinks she is stalking him and is not happy.
Their one night stand resulted in a surprise pregnancy.Dara doesn't know how she is going to break the news to Kiefer.
They work things out in the end after some tears,angst,family support and get to their happily ever after.
Love Callie's books i have only read a few as only recently discovered her books.

This is book three of this series, told in dual first person POV and leaves you with a HEA. This can be read as a standalone, but is more enjoyable if it is read in order. The previous characters appear a lot in this story.
Dara and Keifer were to cute. I loved the nicknames they had for each other. I love the way she brought out the kid in him. I love their back and forth from friends to enemies. I love the support they have for their friends and family and each other. I love the way Keifer is so sweet and romantic with Dara after they decided to get all their feelings out.
I haven’t read the previous books, but I definitely plan on going back to read them. I have loved all of Callie Steven’s books that I’ve read so far and can’t wait to explore more.

This is just a touch of what Keifer is self struggling with. Confusing, maybe but the answers are within the book 😉
The Hawthorne Family is simply becoming bigger - more babies, more Love but not without manoeuvring through a maze. Ah, the Hawthorne men. It has been quite a ride. Not only being single and finding their significant other - emotions are always running wild.
Keifer had to deal with his emotions and trust issues of the opposite sex due to…. No more spoiling, as to why he was judgemental and untrusting.
Callie has a refreshing and safe writing style. With a hefty amount of naughtiness 🫢😉😉 also a reality check to real life.

Weeks later Dara realizes that she is expecting a baby and doesn't know the father's name or how to contact him but with the help of her friend she is able to settle into a house and move on with her life. Too bad that she happened to move next door to the guy that fathered her baby and if that isn't enough, he thinks that she is a stalker. To get her to move he pulls pranks on her, but one prank will be his undoing and it opens his eyes to some home truths. Will Keifer and Dara ever get on the same page and find happiness together. This story had me all caught up in their drama while cheering for them to get a chance for happiness.

Back with the Hawthorn family and this time youngest brother Keifer finds his forever. At his brothers wedding, he meets a mystery woman, both use nicknames and have an unforgettable night together. Keifer leaves for work in another city for several months, when he returns, his mystery woman is loving next door to him, oh and she’s his step mommas BFF. Dara is shocked when she realises who her neighbour is and who her mystery man is. It gets worse when she discovers she is pregnant.
I loved this story, the pranks that they play on each other are hilarious, both have commitment issues and both totally freak out when there is additional news about the pregnancy.

This book caught my attention and I knew I wanted to read it. I didn't listen to a sample first and was worried that I might not like the narrators. Phew! No worries there. They both did a great job with distinct voices that were not annoying nor hard to follow.
The story itself was very entertaining. The characters are interesting - lots of intense chemistry, and the family dynamics is great. There were some moments when the main characters inner dialogue -- angst made me want to shake them but I don't even like listening to my inner dialogue when I am spiraling. Luckily they work their way through it all.
I am really happy that I spent some time meeting them all. Now I need to check out the rest of the series.
