What Do I Say?: The Therapist's Guide to Answering Client Questions

Rate this book
"Therapists are used to asking questions, not answering them. What Do I Say? shows how client questions--no matter how difficult or uncomfortable--can be used to support the therapeutic process rather than derail the therapist-client relationship. Jargon-free and conversational in tone, this book provides guidance on how to answer questions on such hot-button topics as sex, religion, money, disclosing personal information, and setting boundaries. Counselors and other mental health professionals will find essential guidance from the authors' examples drawn from their own lives and work"--

10/10 recommend this book for individuals who are interested in becoming therapists or new therapists. This book provided responses to questions that we are either nervous about being asked or wouldn’t expect a client to ask us. It also provided case scenarios that help give an example on how and when this question could be asked.

Helpful even as a client!

I wanted to learn more about the therapy process. This book addressed concerns of mine as well as giving me an inside look into the process. It is very well written with clear examples and would seem to enlighten both new therapists and seasoned ones.
