Many people would be surprised to learn that God’s view of them is much greater than their own. Ralph Harris, founder and President of LifeCourse Ministries, leads readers to experience a deeply satisfying, joyful relationship with Christ as they embrace what God thinks of them―that they are holy, righteous, blameless, and lovable. With easily communicated biblical knowledge and examples of God’s grace, Harris turns readers toward the love affair with God they were made for. Revealing and unique insights help Readers will encounter wisdom, direction, and encouragement as they rest in God’s truth and mercy, develop a sincere partnership with Christ, and live as confident children of God.
Ralph Harris has done a remarkable job of providing a primer and key reminder of who you are in Jesus Christ. Steve McVey in his foreword to this book says it well when he say Ralph is an affirmer. For Christians who have fallen into the performance trap of believing our worth to God is in direct correlation to our performance, this book will help you begin to see what a relationship with God that starts with His Love and recognizes the consistency of His Love can do.
God's opinion of you according to Ralph is what it is regardless of what we think about it. However, what we think we know and how we perceive God's view and love of us, makes a huge difference in our life.
The book is laid out in 15 segments and designed for either individuals or groups with helpful discussion questions following each section to review and think through the primary points of the chapter. In this regard the book is both instructive in terms of helping to adjust our view of God and then prescriptive in terms of how that viewpoint change impacts our relationship and walk with God.
Points of interest addressed in the book include a review of factors that have led Christians in the past to have a view of God and themselves that is harsh and negative; the role of the Holy Spirit in affirming our identity, detoxifying our previous relationship with God, moving from servant to friend and moving past pretension as well as several others.
A must for every Christian library. A book to read slowly, underline and read again. A great reference book and every time you read it you will be encouraged by the great love God has for you. You will be amazed!
This is a great book the one less star is down to me losing concentration when reading after a nasty tinnitus spike rather than Ralph's writing.
Ralph covers a few topics in his book suffering, child rearing, vulnerability. But the main thing is that he pulls us into Christ and his view and opinion of us and that being the basis of our living.
My favourite chapter was ch 8 even though it was aimed at child rearing I found what Ralph wrote helpful in dealing with my own 'monsters'
Btw from the brief interactions I've had with Ralph online, he seems a thoroughly decent, caring and thoughtful individual. Thanks for writing this book Ralph I'm looking forward to the next one out the year that I'm writing this review.
Every once in a while, you come across a book that can literally change your life by believing the content and living accordingly; this is one of those books. I remember as I was reading the last chapter feeling sad because I knew the book was almost over. Read the book. It has a very important message, and you need to hear it.
Not really the type of book I was looking for because it focused on family and children towards the end of the book. There were definitely some great pieces of the book, but I don't see myself finishing the entire book.
35 years as a Christian and I've never felt like I've measured up to Gods standards. This book helps you discover your true identity IN Christ. It's a shame this is not taught in the church today. Highly recommended. Once you realize God's opinion of you, and his grace freely given, you'll be set free to enjoy your Christian life as never before.
Ralph Harris encourages his readers to live beyond what we can see and truly walk out our privileged status as children of God. He reminds us who we are as a new creation and nudges us to believe it.
I loved the way Ralph Harris presented who we are in Christ. I read things that changed my life and recommend to all who would rejoice over how God sees them.
