For weavers, knitters, sewers, quilters, embroiderers, crocheters, or anyone who is interested in the textile arts, this compendium offers an extensive range of fabric finishes. From basic to esoteric, simple and elegant to highly decorative, these finishes can be applied to any fabric—woven, knitted, crocheted, handmade, or purchased. Each technique is clearly presented with text, illustrations, and photographs of examples.
This book has a little of every thing, a sampling of numerous techniques. Well laid out and nicely illustrated. Not a lot of new stuff if you already have any kind of craft library, and fairly pricey for the amount of content.
This go-to resource would make a nice reference book for a crafter's personal library. It describes, with pictures and detailed instructions, finishing techniques including crochet, embroidery, knitting, knotting, and weaving. The book is actually organized by different types of finishing techniques you might need (edges; seams and joins; braids, cords and trimmings; embroidery; and miscellaneous) though it has a second table of contents for type of art form.
I agree with the author--how you finish something, the details and technique involved in things like edging and attachments, will make or break the project. I will definitely be coming back to this book. It looks like a great resource.
