The Light in The Lake
Book three of the Prepper Trilogy finds our band of refugees from a solar storm safely moved into a several lake cabins and trying to work on their short term and long term survival. The lake is a beautiful place for a survival retreat, but is it safe with roving groups of lake residents all looking for what meager food resources remain after a EMP event has shut down society as we know it. Can society be recreated and restarted here, or will starvation and anarchy take over? Can a simple light in the lake be the solution to survival and the reconstruction of society, or is it merely a symbol of what has been and might be yet again?

I'm not loving the way the women are depicted in this book. It's not done overtly demeaning or anything but the small amount is pretty constant when the women are mentioned. Hey author, I'm the level-headed one in my family! It's my husband that needs a little push to get going and then he's great but I'm the one that reacts first to an emergency. And I'm positive I'm not the only one.
This book was a little too happy for me. There was mention of bad people on the other side of the lake and of people being robbed but the ending was a little unrealistic to me. I'm not saying there would be all out war but I didn't see any mention of rationing or people losing at least a little bit of weight that I would normally expect especially since there were so many people with their group. Also David only had a passing problem with people borrowing his guns - for long periods of time. So good book but not as good as the others.

Just finished the last of the series. Plot and characters were well enough fleshed out. There were typos and grammar errors, confusing to and too, just elementary small things that stopped the flow for me. However I did enjoy the book and would read more if there hadn't been so much foul language and so much alcohol consumption. Many might not mind as the book was full of prepper tips.
