A solar storm has just hit the world causing a EMP event. A emergency manager visiting Atlanta GA must find his way back home after this electromagnetic pulse has stranded him away from his vehicle and his beloved "bug out bag". With 180 miles to go to his destination, David must let his street smarts and survival skills kick in as food and water becomes scarce and societal breakdown proceeds at an unrelenting pace. An interesting and often funny cast of characters from the Deep South helps the displaced Prepper on his way, as he shares his knowledge of how to make do with common items in order to live another day. Ultimately, he acquires an old tractor and heads for home on a car-littered interstate. This is book one of the Prepper Trilogy.
An interesting read, he has some great ideas and tips, but there are just so many typos that should have been picked up it drove me insane and for me distracted me from the story a little bit. I did love that he explained tips and even put in a couple of illustrations so we could properly understand them! Overall a good book that could have been great with better editing and character development.
A very good read! The premise of the book is an emergency manager/prepper is caught away from home without his "bugout" bag when a solar flare (EMP) knocks out all electronics. It's written in an easy to read Southern style that pulls you right into the story. It's not all "doom & gloom", has some really funny spots and actually teaches some good survival tricks! I can't wait to read more of these and I guess I'll stay busy as I see he has about 26 books out!
I loved this book. These type of books make everyday people think really hard about the type of situations they may have to face when the economy collapses or, in the case of this book, we have a solar EMP that wipes out all electricity. People need to read this type of book and learn how to survive without modern conveniences.
Enjoyed it. I particularly liked the diagrams. would have liked to seen more of that and less of some of the highly detailed info but over all I enjoyed it.
This is s good beginning for what I believe will be a great story. The author has a gift for creating characters that you believe you have actually met somewhere.
