Six good stories, information on artists, cover artist, writers, feedback from readers, information on each story and an opening statement from James May - what more could you want... Just brilliant

My brother always used to read these little Commando books on holiday during the 1980s, whereas I've never read any myself until now. This sizeable 50th anniversary hardback tome features 'six of the best' issues, along with inside stories about the artists, writers, editors and offices. Not being of Commando physique myself, at 30 x 35cm, this book often made my thumbs ache many a time while the content was so bursting with testosterone that I felt like a maniac just glancing at it. That said, the six issues featured herein are pretty clever for teenage comic book fare, and being historically accurate, they are fairly educational too. I expect that most teenage boys would enjoy this book, Commando/comic book aficionados would love it, and writers/artists of any kind would find something of interest too. The stories are also printed so well on bright white paper, they look better than the original issues. 3.75/5
