When the fast train to Pebblecombe breaks down and the Little Red Train has to take its place, the passengers are worried. Can they possibly get to the fair in time? Duffy Driver is determined that they will!
The text has its repetitive elements, the story is simple, good for recalling sequences. But the best thing for me are the illustrations. It is so worth spending time with the children to just look at the pictures- new vocabulary, comparisons, what would you do? So, so much. Currently sharing this book every week with a 6 year old (his choice) as a reading volunteer.
Passengers are so ungrateful aren't they, first they want to get there fast, then they complain. Huh. Pictures of the flats were good. Generally a bit of a boring story.
