Hedgehog wants to bake a cake. Rabbit wants to help. So do Squirrel and Owl. What a mess! Come along to Hedgehog's cottage and see how he solves the problem of too many cooks in the kitchen.
A very fun story about a hedgehog who tries to bake a cake. His friends all try to help but just end up making a mess. They leave him to clean up and he has to remake the cake. They then join him for a tea party and are very proud of themselves for making such a delicious cake. I would have liked to see a moral sentence explaining the being nice to his friends part at the end but otherwise it is a very sweet and fun gentle book - be warned it is complete with the recipe so you can go and make the cake with your own little hedgehog!!
I loved this, so did my kid. This Hedgehog is a saint. All he wants to do is bake a cake, then all his friends come walking through his house mucking it up and making a giant mess. How the Hedgehog handles the situation is a good lesson for kids, and adults cause this fictional Hedgehog was a better spirit then I would of been. The illustrations are wonderful, it was a very joyous read along with my kid.
When hedgehog decides to bake a cake his friends stop by at various points in the process to help out. When the last guest leaves, hedgehog needs to make a decision about his cake before all his friends come back for a tea party. A fun story with great appeal to beginning readers.
