Like most humans, Nathan Lockridge – a veteran of the disastrous war against the Autonomous Collective – doesn’t care about the virus sweeping the planet. It already killed him, and now that he has been resurrected as the thing he despises, he’s out for revenge.
And like most Collective mechs, Anomaly 19 is in hiding. After infecting machines across the globe with data from simulations of his murdered human friend, he pays penance by finding the machines he inadvertently brought to life, determined to help them understand what they are and find a place in a world that hates them.
Dragged into the fight for humanity’s survival against their will, the two natural-born enemies will find themselves pitted against an old foe that has been biding its time in the shadows. They’re the two worst people to prevent disaster, but they may be the only ones in a position to do so.
