15-year-old Jared Brooks is tortured by the shadows of his life. The shadows distract him during tests, they keep him up at night, they bring out the worst in him. And they give him so much power that he almost never loses in a fight.
Sadie knows what Jared is and what he can do. When she invites him to join a group of high school students who carry out questionable tasks for the secretive Shadowcouncil, Jared begins to hope he can use the darkness inside himself for something better.
Jacob Dunn (1984 - ) was born in Chattanooga, Tennessee and raised in Barnesville, GA by a librarian and a Spanish teacher. Jacob started reading voraciously as a young boy, primarily as a side effect of a plot by his older brothers. Instead of giving him a turn on the family nintendo, Jacob's older brothers insisted their mother impose a read-a-book-before-you-play policy. Jacob has been writing books since he was eight-years-old. Recently, his Shadowhero series has started to climb the Amazon author ranks since being released in June of 2013.
This is a YA book, but not for a demanding YA. The characters were quite flat and the interactions were very stereotypical. Young, misunderstood boy discovers he actually has super powers and joins a group of similarly talented kids to save the world--or at least catch bad guys.
