What an inspiring book! So thank this author shared the life of C. H. Spurgeon with us. I appreciate all the quotes: prayers, conversations and sermons. Spurgeon’s sole focus in life was to share God’s love with his fellow man in a simple and clear way. How better than to live for God by example.
I enjoy reading books about men and women of faith in Jesus Christ as they inspire me to share the gospel message as well with those people God puts in my life.

A nice small taste of the genius of the great preacher. It is basically a collection of quotes pertaining to different aspects of leadership. It was a quick read and a great book to reference and to help branch into deeper waters of Spurgeon.

It is a must-read for any gospel minister who wishes to grow in spiritual leadership.

"I pray God if I have a drop of blood in my body which is not His, to let it bleed away; and if there be one hair in my head which is not consecrated to Him, I would have it plucked out." (183)

Spurgeon is my absolute faith hero. If God permits me to be even half the man he was, I will be forever grateful. As someone who aspires to positions of leadership in my spiritual life, this book has been immensely helpful. Spurgeon lived every piece of life for the glory of God, and that comes across very well in this collection. The author does a fantastic job of collecting examples to show Spurgeon's wisdom and reliance on God for all he did. This book is a must read for all aspiring leaders as well as anyone who wishes to see their spiritual life increase.

This book is actually composed by Steve Miller who utilizes quotes from Spurgeon and his closest friends to derive Spurgeon's train of thougth on spiritual leadership. I would say that Miller did a good job of this. Of the benefits of this book are as follows: you have a greater understanding of the life of Spurgeon, you have a better understanding of what it means to be a spiritual leader. The book could also be used to help one decide if they should be a minister of the gospel; however, I believe that Letters to My Students by Spurgeon would probably be better than that.

Overall the book was well put together, simple to read, encouraging and convicting.

"Not I, but Christ" was CH Spurgeon's motto which oozes out of every page of this powerful little work by Steve Miller. The book is a compilation of biographical and autobiographical quotes woven together by Miller into a cohesive theme of Spurgeon's view on how one becomes a truly spiritual leader. There are many helpful reminders along with powerful challenges to live for the glory of one in our lives, families and ministries. I was especially convicted by Spurgeon's sharp focus on glorifying God thru the reconciliation of lost sinners with their Creator. May my life be more focused and God-glorifying like Spurgeon's.

"A submitted, committed believer will magnify the Lord Jesus!"
This book is a collection of Charels Spurgeons writings put together by Steve Miller. I is a must for all serious christians, with or without a "title" in ministry.
However I must warn you it is not for the "feel good" reader.
It will challenge your walk with the Lord if taken to heart!
It touches on areas of our lives like...

willingness to suffer

spiritual growth

passion for prayer

and a commitment to holiness

and humility.

This book drug me by the legs back to the foot of the cross. Spurgeon highlighted by Miller at first made me compare my walk with God to that of Spurgeon's which is in itself overwhelming but through this book my focus has been immensely renewed to prepping me for spiritual leadership. And realizing it is Not I but Christ...

An excellent compilation of Spurgeon's teachings/sermons/etc, and the brief commentaries and thoughts from Miller are also well thought out and valuable. Immensely enjoyed reading this, and definitely inspired and encouraged by it as well.

Miller deals with varying topics of Spurgeon's life and ministry to display a singular focus: the person, nature, and work of Jesus Christ. This short book is so worth the read.
