My review
This is the first book I have read from from Croix and what a treat it was. No hold Barred was an erotic delight with plenty of emotion and just enough story to make you love the characters. It was not your typical menage read with a bunch of characters willing to jump in bed and act like emotions and jealously would not affect the dynamic between the three (not that I don't love those as well). But it is a fresh take and more realistic to what might actually transpire between a couple deeply committed to each other and their best friend. I also loved Croix's military alpha male characters, not domineering but sexually dominate, it all adds up to a sexy encounter.
"It’s better to be boldly decisive and risk being wrong than to agonize at length and be right too late." - by Marilyn Moats Kennedy –
"Trust is letting go of needing to know all the details before you open your heart." - Author unknown –
3.5 stars.
Caitlin is shocked when her fiancée reveals that he’d like to share her with another man, although she’s been fantasizing about it for quite some time. She doesn’t know if she should be more outraged or hurt when she hears his proposition, and she’s afraid that Nate could be sexually bored with her. But Nathan denies. Cait seems to know what this conversation is all about because Nate’s buddy, Liam, will come to see them. Nathan and Liam were friends since college and had served in the Marines together. Nate would like to try a ménage, provided it’s someone he’d trust with Caitlin. And this someone is Liam. He hopes that she trusts him enough to let it happen.
'Trust me, baby. Trust me to give you what you’re too afraid to ask for.' 'Go ahead and jump off that ledge, baby. I’m right here to catch you.'
Cait loves to surrender and just feel, to give up all responsibility for her pleasure and let Nathan take over and unravel her. He never tries to control Cait in any other aspect of her life, but in the bedroom he is absolutely dominant, an alpha male.
I must admit that I had a bit a hard time to get into this story. I liked the heroes and let’s face it, what’s not to like about two very hot and tender (former) Marines? However, the heroine...I can’t claim that I 'liked' her. She is sweet and sexy for all I care, but she was too reluctant, too indecisive, and too uneasy. Don’t get me wrong, I am all for sensual and erotic foreplay, but it’s the foreplay that precedes the sexual act and not the kind of 'Will-I-ever-make-up-my-mind' foreplay. I think there was too much pondering. Of course I get it that she never had a threesome, but you have to make a decision eventually and it took up a lot of time.
Nate says that he wouldn’t push her into anything she didn’t really want to do. However, I think that he did push her and he 'convinced' her ultimately – not all that overtly but he did nevertheless. Obviously it was necessary otherwise she’d have chickened out.
Somewhere it’s written that Caitlin is so sexy, yet innocent. I second that and I think she is too innocent for a ménage.
[...]Did she really want to do this? Cross this line? Yes, she realized, she really did.[...] Even during the ménage, she tries to convince herself that she made the right decision.
It felt kind of odd to read about the 'morning after'. Cait was so embarrassed, insecure, even a bit ashamed of what they’ve done. But those doubts just came too late for my liking. While reading No Holds Barred I thought a few times "Woman, make up your mind already!" Personally I am very decisive and maybe that’s why her behavior bothered me.
By the way...Liam: "I never kiss and tell." We're so on the same page here, Liam! But I sure hope that he will kiss another woman and his story will be written eventually!
What I really liked a lot was the tenderness! Both guys were very attentive and caring! Additionally, one of the good things about Nate and Liam is their focused desire for her. They want to pleasure her and she comes first (pun intended). The three of them generated quite some steam – I can’t say they were heating up the sheets because the ménage was not set in the bedroom, though.
Overall it’s a solid read and I liked it but it is not outstanding. Let me say up front that I read anything written by Callie Croix and Kaylea Cross. She is one of my favorite authors and I just love her writing style! As I understand it No Holds Barred is just not her best book yet, however I will continue to read and enjoy her work, that’s for sure. Keep the hot stories coming, Callie/Kaylea!
Note to the readers: this novella contains explicit sex (oral, NO anal), m-f-m ménage, graphic language, NO spanking, NO toys

While having a discussion after dinner, Cait’s fiancé brings up the subject of a threesome. Nathan offers to give her one with no jealousy as long as he is involved and knows about it. This shocks and amazes Cait, but leaves her questioning his purpose. Struggling to understand why he would offer the threesome, she starts to question herself and the trust between them. But the thought is firmly lodged into her mind and she can’t help but fantasize about Liam, Nate’s best friend, being involved.
Nate watches Cait struggle with these thoughts and just wants to show her he trusts her and give her unbelievable pleasure. When Liam comes to visit, Nate doesn’t pressure, but he knows Cait is struggling from attraction she didn’t know was there. Between Liam and Nate, they show her there is nothing wrong with these feelings. In the end, Nate is just hoping this will strengthen their trust and form a stronger bond between them.
I really loved how Nathan talks to Cait. He shows her what he is thinking, but she reads more into it than Nate is thinking. He doesn’t force her into anything, but he does push her to face her feelings for them. Often he says he isn’t jealous nor does he trust her any less for wanting a threesome.
I totally related with Cait. If this were something said to me, I too would be wondering what I had done wrong or why I was being given this “opportunity.” She trusts Nathan completely and cares deeply for Liam as a friend. The subject is brought up she can’t get it out of her mind, causing her to avoid Liam even though he doesn’t know what has been discussed.
Seriously, I loved that they were both alpha, dominant men! I don’t say this as if they were brutal or forced her to anything. They let her control it, but that doesn’t mean they didn’t push her to be truthful to herself. The book was steamy on many levels and very thoughtful on others. I plan on reading more books by Callie Croix if all of her books are written as well as this one. It deals with taboo subjects, but isn’t thoughtless or careless with the characters. They are deep and thoughtful. Making final choices that impact multiple lives. I totally recommend this book.
I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. My reviews don’t contain spoilers.
The set up for this book from the book summary is During a playful talk about fantasies, Caitlin's fiancé offers to give her a threesome—with his best friend, Liam, who's coming to spend the weekend. At first Cait is shocked that Nathan could entertain the thought of sharing her with another man, but once he's planted the idea her imagination runs wild, leaving her deeply aroused—yet still unsure about what the implications could be for her and Nate's relationship.
Okay this book is hot! Besides being erotica, this author takes this novella and really makes use of all her words. This story is really well written. I really felt Cait’s feelings as if they were my own. Her angst was mine. I appreciated that. But the angst wasn’t the annoying kind that makes you want to skim the story. It was just a natural part of the story that was being told. I left the story hoping there would be more from these characters, yet I was satisfied with what I got.
I totally recommend this story for those who enjoy erotica.
This was a deliciously short read, would have preferred a little more character depth though. The characters had a lot of potential and deserved more story time!
****This book was provided to me as an ARC by Netgalley
Hmmm... I liked this one. I thought it was nice for an erotica and the concept was nice and the author definitely pulled it off. But I don’t know, I guess I don’t think the book was long enough to give it a major in depth review. So, I’m gonna give the book a quick review, that still gives you an idea about what the book was about and whether you should read it or not.
No Holds Barred is about… A married couple happily living together, husband’s old friend comes to visit and they all end up having sex. I liked it and I thought it was a nice, light fluffy book, that I did thoroughly enjoy. I give it a 4/5.
I liked the writing and it was the perfect length for the plot, it all centered around one major sex scene that I think the author really pulled off well. The author wrote the book really well and I look forward to reading more books written by this author, I give the writing a 4/5.
I loved the characters I thought they were all amazing in their own way. I would love to see more books with these characters (especially Liam) again and because of it, I give the characters a 4.5/5, the characters were all really sweet and I liked reading from each ones different point of view. The characters get a 3.5/5.
Overall, I reckon this is a good erotica and I normally don’t rate erotica’s higher than a 4 but I think all together this one deserves a 4.2. It was really good and I wish I could have given it a longer review, but I really would have no clue what to say. Because I have no clue who to recommend this to (besides erotica lovers) I created a quiz. If you answer yes to more than one. Check this book out. You may not like it. But I still recommend checking the book out (It's a nice fluffy erotica).
QUIZ 1) Do you like erotica novels? 2) Did you like my review? 3) Are you considering reading this? 4) Do you like M M F situations? 5) Do you like books that happen over the course of a night and then the following morning? 6) Have you read anything by the author before? Did you like it? 7) Are you going to read the book? 8) (Not a quiz question) Did you like my quiz?
Wish there was more of a story to it, but this was really good - There was nothing primal about this threesome -
Cait and her fiancé Nathan were talking about a book Cait was reading - about a threesome. He told her that if she wanted to fulfill her fantasy and have one, he would be ok with it.
Their closest friend Liam was coming into town for the weekend from overseas, and Cait knew that he would be the one Nathan felt safe enough to do this with.
But Cait had her doubts. She felt the desire to give in, but the embarrassment and nervousness about Nathan saying he's more secure in their relationship than he was letting on. She was afraid she would like it too much.
When Liam came into town, her body jumped at each flirtation remark or movement that was considered normal for them, but after spending so much time thinking about other things he could do to her , she had to get out of there!
Leaving for work as soon as he showed up only stalled her feelings for a little while. Things got so intense for her from just sitting on the couch watching TV in-between these two, even the attentive strokes on her neck from Nathan that were meant to calm her down did just the opposite.
The next day was Liam’s last day visiting them. after watching Cait's reactions, he knew she wanted this, but was too afraid to admit it. After Dinner when Liam went upstairs to shower was the perfect time to get Cait to relax. Although she was still closed off to having Liam join them, she was extremely aroused enough that the idea was starting to wear her down.
After a few attentive strokes and sensual kisses, Liam walked into the kitchen and watched as Nathan aroused his fiancé. When Cait saw Liam, she was just about to push away from Nathan and refuse, but he held her in place. Talking smoothing words in her ear. Liam started walking towards her. ...
The tenderness these two men showed Cait was surreal - I loved the way they looked out for her, watched her ever reaction and were prepared to stop at any given moment -
The feelings between these three will defiantly last a lifetime :)
First chapter starts off with hero and heroine talking about a previous conversation they had where the heroine said she'd like to have a threesome. Hero is all for it. Heroine, not so much. Worries that it'll change her relationship with her fiance when he tells her the 3rd person in their bed would be his best friend Liam because he doesn't trust anyone else but him to be able to pleasure her.
Chapter 2 & 3 are spent with heroine avoiding both Nathan (her fiance) and Liam because if they do this, it could ruin everything.
Chapter 4 is all about the sexytimes between Nathan, Caitlin & Liam. Liam goes down on Cait. Cait doesn't want to go all the way with Liam. Not yet. (Which makes me think she wouldn't mind going all the way with him some time in the future??) But she's all for going down on him while Nathan is having his fun with her, too. Nathan is fine with all of this because it's all about Cait's pleasure, her fantasy, blah blah blah.
Chapter 5 is all about Cait worried that she's ruined her relationship with Liam and Liam's friendship with Nathan. All is well after they have a talk and off he goes to his next tour of duty. But wait. Before Liam goes, Cait kisses him while Nathan is watching. Liam leaves and Nathan has "thoughts of jealousy." Over a kiss. He didn't have these thoughts when Liam was going down on his fiancee and when his fiance was going down on Liam the night before but now that it's the next day and Liam is leaving, he gets jealous over a kiss and feels the need to tear off her clothes and have sex with her right then and there to prove to her that she's still his! (Not that he does it, just his POV going on here) Are you kidding me? That was a WTF moment for me if ever there was one.
That was it. 5 chapters. We didn't really get to know any of the characters beyond that Cait had mentioned to Nathan her fantasy of a threesome & Nathan's desire to see that she got it.
As an aside, $2.99 for a 5 chapter book is ridiculous, IMO.

My Review: Whoa, what an incredible erotic read. This very short novella is about an engaged couple, Nathan & Cait. Cait reads erotica featuring menage and Nathan really wants to fulfill this fantasy for her. The perfect opportunity arises when their mutual friend, Liam, comes to visit for the weekend before his assignment heading out to Afghanistan.
Cait may be aroused by the idea, but she does NOT want them to have a menage. She worries about what it will do to their relationship. She feels shame at her arousal by Liam. She is worried that if they do this then Nate will view her differently and it will change their wonderful relationship. This book is so honest in what Cait is feeling. It just rang really true. The book is incredibly hot, but through it all you feel Cait's doubts and her incredible love for Nate.
Nate & Liam are best friends and have shared women before, so he knows that if he can trust anyone with this woman that he loves, he can trust Liam. He also knows that Liam is attracted to her and honestly respects her. He is very conscious of the fact that Cait is uncomfortable with the idea, but he also knows her well enough to be able to tell that she is really turned on by the idea.
Like I said the entire book has a really honest feel about it. Menage is one of those fantasy things and most books treat it like that without the reality of the doubts that can come from it. This book touches on all those doubts, but still manages to keep the entire feel incredibly sexy and arousing. Callie Croix knows how to write some seriously sexy scenes...whoa!! I really liked the way that she handled it at the end for Nate. Like I said, it has a true feeling to the story that you can't help but love! Gorgeous writing. I plan to check out more by this author!
What a hot little book this was! For being a short novel the story line and character development were surprising good. I would have much rather have had a longer story with more of a story line, but Ms. Croix did an excellent job of writing a short and hot erotic menage story.
It seems to be prevalent in romance books lately (to me at least) that the guys are super hot, confident, strong willed, and have personalities that you can't help but love, while the women are usually whiny, insecure, indecisive, and just get on your nerves. I would love to see more of the female characters better developed with stronger more confident (and likeable) personalities. This book is definitely not the only one that has this issue... it seems to be an ongoing problem. I would have given the book 4+ stars if it has been a bit more developed in the plot and if the female character had been developed more fully.
Regardless, this is a fun short read. I would recommend it to anyone who enjoys reading erotica romance.
With short stories sometimes the road to sex doesn't always make sense, but with this story it is easy to see why it would happen so fast as it makes perfect sense.
I loved that Nathan gave Cait an option that he thought she would enjoy but be too scared to do on her own and that the option included a person that she would feel safe with. When the action started to happen both guys gave her chance and chance to change her mind and back out if it truly wasn't something she wanted.
I also loved the reactions the next day. Cait still not sure, but both Nathan and Liam were there to let her know that all was right and nothing changed with them.
The only thing I was disappointed with was that I wanted more. I would have loved to see this story go on and see the long term ramifications of their night together because it seems to be there would be some.
NO HOLDS BARRED is a short erotic read that set my Kindle on fire. It's obvious how much Caitlin and Nathan love each other and how much Liam's friendship means to them. Turns out Nathan has a very wild sexual past, which Caitlin knew about, so he's willing to give Caitlin what he's pretty sure she wants. Caitlin is more conflicted over everything; she worries it might ruin her friendship with Liam, that Nathan will get jealous, as well as what it means about her if she has a threesome. I liked that Caitlin expressed her conflicted feelings but I do wish that it hadn't lasted through pretty much all the foreplay because it made it feel like she wasn't completely on board with what was happening. Overall, a very sexy novella showing just a moment in time.
Note: This is not a polyamorous romance and it's clear that it's only a one time thing.
A nice short erotic interaction between Caitlin, her husband Nathan, and Nate's best friend, Liam.
I was surprised at how reluctant Cait was when Nathan approached the topic of a threesome. Even when things had started up with Liam, she still wasn't gung-ho. I was glad when she eventually gave in to the pleasure and realized that Nate really was OK with what they were doing.
The sex was very hot, and I wouldn't mind a little reunion between the three once Liam finishes his job overseas.
This was a very sensual, emotional erotic romance, not just sex. The high octane emotions are what made the love scenes, imo. I liked that Caitlin's fears of a menage were realistic and that she acted like a normal woman would when put in this situation. I also really liked the ending. I'm not a fan of menage situations that end unrealistically in a contemporary setting and I loved that there was no doubt that this was a one time thing!
“I saw the book you’re reading, and if you ever wanted to try it, I’m okay with that, provided it’s some I’d trust with you.”
No Holds Barred is an erotic fantasy brought to life when Nathan proposes to his fiancé the opportunity to make one of the fantasies she's been reading about which is to partake in a menage a trois with his best friend, Liam. Although she's shocked at the proposal and initially refuses the offer, Caitlin isn't able to totally dismiss the proposition. As the idea sinks in Caitlin's curiosity grows with each passing moment and eventually brings her to new levels of ecstasy that she never would have dreamed of coming true.
“I saw the book you’re reading, and if you ever wanted to try it, I’m okay with that, provided it’s some I’d trust with you.”
No Holds Barred is actually my second Callie Croix book, the first being Let Me In, which is actually the sequel to No Holds Barred. I loved Let Me In and I was sure I'd enjoy this book as well. Once again she’s delighted me with her erotic tales but what sets it apart from other novellas I’ve read is that it's not just about the sex but the emotions involved with it. Don’t get me wrong sometimes getting right down to business is fun but when there are deep rooted emotions involved it makes the sex so much better. Croix has crafted a very well written erotica romance with scorching hot scenes and characters that you are bound to love.
“You would share me? Actually share me with another man?” “You make it sound like I’d give you away or something. I just meant I’d do that for you if you wanted to someday”
Nathan is an alpha male through and through but very tender and attentive to his fiancé. He's confident in his sexual prowess and wants to make sure that Cait's needs and desires were fulfilled in every way possible. I liked how he urged her to explore the possibilities but never forced her to do something she was totally uncomfortable with. His love for her was very apparent and I found myself swooning over how attentive and giving he was towards Caitlin.
"As her lover and life partner it was his duty, his privilege to make sure he fulfilled her in every way possible. He wanted to."
Caitlin was a very relatable character and if I were put in her shoes I could have thought and done the same things she did. She's not a prude and is accepting of Nathan's dominance in the bedroom but that doesn't mean she doesn't ever have any reservations. As much as the thought of a threesome piqued her interest she thought with a her head and heart. No matter the pleasures she knew she would receive she was very worried about the any repercussions that may arise in the aftermath.
"Trust me, baby. Trust me to give you what you're too afraid to ask for."
Liam who was the lead male protagonist in the first Croix novella I read, Let Me In, was as charming and sexy. I really loved the fact that both males were dominant Alpha's but treated Cait with the same loving and tender affection. The tale ends on a note where Cait sees her fantasy fulfilled but also is able to live with the decisions that she's made. We also see Nathan's confidence falter just a little bit when he has a pang of jealousy the morning after when Cait wishes Liam goodbye. But there is no need to fret because the couple ends on a happy note. Callie Croix has a wonderful way of making something like a menage a trois sexy but sweet at the same time. Although this novella was only 17,000 words it packed in a lot of steam and emotion. I've easily become a fan of Croix's writing from the two novellas I've read and really look forward to reading more of her work
The book started with pretty powerful words, a conversation between Caitlin and her fiancè Nathan, about his desire to share her with another man. Since before their relationship Nathan has been adventurous about his sex life Caitlin started to fear he was becaming bored.
But on the contrary Nathan is every girls dream, ex-military, pays attention to Caitlin reads and because off that realised that deep down she has fantasies about a treesome, so because off that he decided to give a little help, could he be any more perfect?
Caitlin was not a prude, and her sex life with Nathan was anything from vanilla, taking from anal sex to a light bondage, se tried a bit off everything. This treesome was really something she was thinking, but didn't have the courage to do it. Nathan's push was all that she needed.
I found Nathan a bit of contradiction, while he's very dominant in bed for the rest off things he's also light, washes dishes after dinner, put clothes on the wash hamper (sounds like the perfect men hmmm)
When Lian appear in the midlle off a steamy kisses, Nathan realises is the perfect moment to push Caitlin to face what she really wants, and boy those guys really know how to work together. They only need head nods to make a point.
I loved how Nathan handled the situation, especially Caitlin fears for the after relationship and his own jealousy, and still continous with a normal friendship. Also loved the fact that Callie put the last chapter on Nathan's POV, so we can see that he's also affected by their treesome, differently from the reast of the book that's all in Caitlin.
Hope this one has a sequel, cause Nathan found his happily ever after, but Lian still suffer to really connect with a woman on a relationship level.
Despite being a novel, I fealt better reading this book knowing they where already on a preview relationship, and tried a different thing.
No Holds Barred by Callie Croix * I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review*
Nathan loves Caitlin and wants to fulfill her ultimate fantasy and bring her pleasure beyond anything she has ever experienced. His best friend is spending the weekend with them and he is the perfect accomplice since the two of them have done this before. Now he just has to show Cait that it’s ok to want Liam and enjoy the experience without the guilt.
Caitlin can’t believe that Nate seems unaffected by his proposal of a threesome. She enjoys reading about them but that’s about as far as she will go, even though the idea is very intriguing to her. She would never do anything to jeopardize her relationship with Nate or Liam and she is sure that this would. The more she thinks about it though, the more she is interested, if only the guys would take the choice out of her hands.
This was a very sexy short story that was filled with a variety of emotions. Cait loves Nate and she cares about Liam but she is worried about what will happen to their friendship if she agrees to the threesome. She is terrified that it will cost her everything to experience one night of passion at their hands. She is confused by the way Nate is acting and doesn’t understand how he is ok with sharing her with another man. At one point Nate realizes that he is jealous and there is only so much he is willing to share with Liam.
Overall I enjoyed this book and give No Holds Barred 3½ Flaming Hearts.
Caitlin is completely in love with her fiance, Nathan, and she is shocked when he offers to give her a threesome with him and his best friend. Sure, she likes reading dirty menage stories in her books, but has never considered trying one in her real life. Nathan and his friend Liam have shared women in the past, but Cait thought it was just that... the past.
Once Liam arrives for a visit from the military, Cait is a wreck. At first, she is fearful that Nathan is dissatisfied with their relationship. Then she starts to wonder what it might be like to take him up on his offer. She is nervous, uncomfortable and embarrassed. But when the men approach her in just the right way, she decides to put her fears aside and give it a try.
This is a short, hot read. The sex is good and I like that the author did not try to turn a HFN into a HEA. But I felt like the story was divided into two parts: the first half, where Cait is obsessing about whether or not to have the threesome; and the second half, which details the sex. I appreciate the effort that the author puts in to show us that Cait is loyal to Nathan, but her indecision was too pronounced in a story of this length. If it were a longer story, I could see it, but when the whole story is 45 pages, 22 of them is too long for waffling.
When we do get to the good stuff, it's pretty tame for a menage, but I did enjoy it. The foreplay, especially is quite effective. A fun, quick read.
No Holds Barred by Callie Croix is a short and smutty story of Cait and Nathan, a lucky-and-in-love couple, who are hosting a good friend for a weekend. Cait can't seem to get the idea of a threesome out of her head after Nathan had brought it up in conversation. She's torn between her rational and erotic reactions, and she struggles to keep herself from daydreaming about what, exactly, a threesome wth their friend Liam would be like. Something I found myself enjoying about this short story was how much Cait struggled with her feelings on the whole bringing-in-a-friend thing. She tried at first to deny the fact that she was intrigued, and then when she finally acknowledged the idea had merit to her, she still struggled with allowing herself permission to enjoy it. Of course, her fiance, Nathan, was nothing but supportive and understanding to the whole thing, ready to call a halt at the first sign of trouble. And Liam knows his place as well as he knows his good friends, and he plays along in their game as a willing player.
The encounter is an erotic awakening as well as a romantic one. At the end of Liam' stay, both Cait and Nathan realize even more how much they love each other and how possessive they are of that love.
No Holds Barred is a nice little interlude away from ordinary.
I wish I could say something poetic like: 'It was potent and erotic like dark chocolate'. It WAS emotional, and it WAS sexy. I did like it. It just never moved me. If you ask me to describe the book, I would say- nicely done, short and to the (erotic) point. But I felt like watching a funny commercial I liked the first time it was shown. You laugh a little to yourself, but mostly it is because you remember the first time and how much fun you had. Authors upon authors choose to write in this direction...to write about two friends,a finace, and a ménage with a sole couple ending. The only sad thing is- nobody seems to bring anything new in to the equation. I liked it the first time. Now I just have the need to put this book in a dentist's office-it is something you leaf trough without ever really being interested. I recommend it to people who are new to the genre and wish to try something erotic but are too traditional to try something really out there (like permanent MMF menages). It was written well and the scenes were sexy when looked from a distance.
- That short can be very sexy! And by short I mean length....er that still isn't right. Let's go with the number of pages can be few and still be sexy! - That the expected doesn't always have to happen for the sexy times to still be sexy. - That I didn't really understand some of Nathan's rational, but overall it didn't detract from the story (except for a little bit at the end). - That I feel that this story should be part of a larger one. This feels more like one of those freebies that authors put out when they have a story that readers love and want to see more of. - That I wish I knew more about Cait, Nathan, and Liam. - That Liam is damn sexy, and him and Nathan together could be VERY dangerous! - That I am curious enough to want to read another Callie Croix story.
There were parts of this story I very much enjoyed, and parts I struggled with. Nathan thinks that his fiance Cait would enjoy a threesome with him and his best friend Liam. I appreciated the fact that, while Cait was turned on by the idea, she struggled with the reality of the possible event. Too many erotic romances have one character suggest a new sexual act and the other is completely in agreement, no hesitation. Cait recognizes the fact that a threesome is not an event to be taken lightly and struggles with very human emotions- guilt, embarrasement, self-doubt. I appreciated Nathan's support of Cait while she struggled with the idea of this new adventure. What I didn't like about Nathan was that he got possessive when Cait finally opened up and showed some emotion towards Liam. I did feel that the characters, story, and emotions were very honest. Good story.
I was on a rollercoaster of emotions. I went back and forth from liking to disliking to liking again. I like Caitlin and Nathan and how much they seemed to love one another. Then it got to the point of bringing in Liam and I felt like they were forcing her to do something that she really didn't want to act on. I know that she fantasized about it, but that doesn't mean that she actually wanted to act on it. In the end I realized that this is something that she did want to experience she just was afraid how Nathan would feel in the end, because she loved him so much and maybe Liam a little bit too. I would love to see an entire story with them, maybe seeing them all in a relationship together, because it seemed to me that Liam may be in love with Caitlin himself.
While this was definitely HOT and STEAMY and (confession time!) I’d probably do the same with handsome military men, I didn’t connect to the characters. Maybe the story was too short . . . I don’t know, honestly.
One part I didn’t care for was how Cait was cornered about the threesome. Yes, she thought about it. Hell, I probably would, too, if I had two fine men sitting in my living room, one I was married to. See, I’m already fantasizing. ANYWAY! The way Cait was portrayed as not being OK with the threesome, and the guys kind of forcing it on her, didn’t sit well with me.
Otherwise, every other aspect of this book was spot-on.
No Holds Barred è una lettura piacevole, piccante e molto leggera.
