The Amazing Life of Cats

Rate this book
Stories of feline antics, extraordinary abilities, and interactions with their humans make this collection a must-have for cat lovers everywhere
"If you want to know the character of a man, find out what his cat thinks of him." —Anonymous Humanity has worshipped cats in one form or another for thousands of years. This rich collection of true cat stories celebrates many tiny miracles and heart-warming moments, as well as feats of extraordinary mischief, courage, and sacrifice. Few animals make their presence felt in our lives the way cats do. Even those who know cats are still awed by their daring and determination, their fearlessness and curiosity, and their astonishing powers of persuasion that ensure they almost always get what they want. This is the perfect book for anyone whose life has been enriched by one or more feline friends.

DNF, horrible!

Several red flags (poem where cat says it will be thrown away but should reassume its position), sowing terror that metacam is basically deadly for cats (it's not if used properly), the last straw was some homeopatic propaganda and denying the cat regular vet checks because 'they know better'.

Adding to that stories about cats who died horrible death because owners were too lazy to make them safe (the one about owl is the worst) and making it into a noble / spiritual etc experience, was just too much for me. My gut wrenched several times and after few more rolleyes I abandon the book.

This is NOT a book for cat lovers.

This is a book for a type of person who thinks they're cat lover but will hit and throw cat away from the flat onto the streets because it peed on the bed, and the cat will get killed by a car a few years later, and then such person will both denying their responsibility and keep claiming they love cats. (not book example, real life person) Such people need validation in terms that 'other people do negligent things, let's celebrate those cats' in form of book like this.

I don't see thing for celebration, I see just a deep sorrow and negligence that led to accidents that could be easily avoided. Yes, accidents can happen, but leaving your cat on the roof over the night because you're lazy to get them / ensure they can't get there in the first place, especially when you know known predator (huge owl) is nearby is horrible, and not worth of 'nice story' and far from an accident. Accident is when something happens DESPITE your best efforts to avoid them and not when you have zero efforts. That's negligence, not accident. I think I was most annoyed with the tone of fake celebration or respecting the cat whilst completely ignoring horrible negligence that happened and not owning it, not to mention there's no discussion whatsoever about how to avoid such horrible things.

The tone of stories is just not compassionate towards cats, they're just kind of objects here despite the title and book description.

Poor cats, that's all I can say.
Spare yourself reading such poor, soul sucking material :/

Lovely cat stories

largely from down under. This collection just goes to show the universality of cats behaving like the amazing, amusing, annoying creatures they are, and why we love them. An easy, relaxing read that's perfect for an evening, curled up with your favorite felines!
