Just when you think it's another church supper, the hero makes his entrance...and what an entrance it is. He crashes in and winds up with strawberry shortcake all over him. Then there's the guy with the gun. Creepy. He turns out to be a stalker who relishes the hunt. Scary.

Faith Roussell is determined not to fall in love again, not after her ex-fiancé cheated on her. But Matt Allen has eyes that are like magnets, drawing her in. The action goes from Bridal Wreath, the Florida Keys and finally to Key West and then back again and as the storyline progresses, the stakes keep getting higher. The continual playing on the words "last resort" intrigued me, as that's one of the monikers for Key West. Also, near the end, the villain says he escalated his actions as a last resort.

This is a novel where the reader can not only connect with the heroine and hero, as would be expected, but there's also connection with the villain. This is a unique take on how to present a villain and an inventive one.

Last Resort
by
B.J. Robinson
Faith had given up on love after escaping the abuse of her fiancee. She had given her heart to him, believing in true love, and that he would love her until death do them part. Sadly, all she found was a man who not only cheated on her, but physically, emotionally and mentally abused her. At the time, Faith did all that she could do, run.
Faith loved the Lord and trusted in Him and His word. She prayed daily for guidance and unconditional love that only God could give. She had given up on having a life mate to spend her life with, and who would love her like a man should love a woman in the Lord. Faith had no family to turn to, she had lost her sister to a eating disorder and her mother to cancer. So, Faith left the city to move to the country to do what she and her mother loved to do, raise strawberries.
She had noticed him church, and in passing coming and going to her home. She had a young man name Matt who lived on one side of her and a very jealous prissy Lily on the other. Faith was attracted to Matt because she felt there was something about him and he always seemed to be around when she needed someone, and she found she needed someone quite a bit when things started crumbling around her. Things that would turn her world upside down, things that would cause Faith to fall to her knees in prayer to a loving God, asking for help. No matter what life threw at her, she never gave up her faith in the Lord.
Take a journey with Faith who couldn't see the true love that had found her for the dark shadow that lurked in the woods watching her every move. A shadow that was determined to have her at all cost, even to the point of doing something as harsh and only as a 'last resort'.
I can tell through the author's words and characters that she walks with the Lord and writes stories of the trials and tribulations that can only be 'fixed' with prayer and supplication. Each of her characters love the Lord, even if they don't realize it until they hit rock bottom. I found the book very clean, non graphic, non sexual, no foul language, and she still managed to write a very inspiring , uplifting story. I found myself envying Faith for finding a wonderful Christian man who loved the Lord as much as she did. Throughout my life, I have yet to find that, and it is one of my life's regrets. But I know the Lord has plans for me, and instead of deciding how my life should turn out, I need to turn it over to Him, for He knows what is best for His children.
Thank you B.J. for writing a book of hope, and reminding the reader God is in command and all you have to do is turn it all over to Him.
I give Last Resort five stars and many blessings... *****

This suspense novel starts off on a hot, humid day in Bridal Wreath, Florida. Faith Grace Roussell has returned to her hometown after her broken engagement. Her fiancé, who considers himself to be a man's man, has cheated on her and Faith calls off the wedding. On Faith's return to Bridal Wreath, she is happy to be reunited with her best friend and confidant, Nan Gray. At a church gathering, Faith has the opportunity to meet her next door neighbor, Matt. He immediately intrigues her but Faith is definitely not looking for a new romantic liaison. Within less than twenty-four hours, a series of suspicious events take place. A stray bullet, a middle of the night intruder and the trashing of Faith's shed, concern Matt as the plot quickly thickens.

It would seem that Matt has every reason to be concerned. The worrisome events are escalating as Faith receives notes warning her to go back where she came from but Faith becomes more determined than ever to stand her ground. The story continues with its many twists and turns as Matt and Faith develop their relationship despite Faith's efforts to not fall in love so soon after her last unfortunate love connection. She is doing everything in her power to resist this handsome, strong, and supportive man. She can't help but feel safe in his presence. The suspense mounts as Matt showers her with protection because he soon realizes that someone is definitely out to hurt her. In fact, there is more than one person out to get Faith but she is not the one in real danger. In reality, it is Matt's life that is at stake. Someone is stalking them both. As the suspense continues, the evidence points to Fred, Faith's abusive ex-fiancé. He is a very elusive and focused stalker. What will it take to stop this jealous man who is determined to win Faith back? He is like a driven maniac chasing after his prey. What will be the Last Resort and how far will Fred go to get his way?

B.J. Robinson writes with flair. She manages to incorporate her own love for God in a well-written, romantic, suspense novel. She uses delightful expressions such as a "beautiful smile that reached his eyes" to describe the likeability and genuineness of Matt's character and personality. The sunshine in Faith's eyes match the love and twinkle found in Matt's. The use of such descriptive analogies adds to the intrigue found in this novel. B.J. Robinson also manages to add some real life people into Last Resort. Her deceased mother and sister are mentioned on several occasions which enhance her story line and give it more authenticity. She also includes her loveable dog, Sunflower, in order to further add to the storyline and give a very personal touch to this enjoyable mystery novel.

What a great story! I loved how you drew your readers in so quickly and then constantly threw in twists and turns for them to deal with. Many women deal with losing what they thought was the love of their life to a failed relationship—it’s their attitude that determines how they proceed on from there. By letting God lead her through the fiery trials that came her way, and trusting Him in the most difficult of times, Faith found her true destiny in life and love and it was everything she had ever dreamed of. This is a fabulous story of love, real life and how a positive attitude in Christ can lead you through even the most difficult times! I highly recommend it and know you will leave the book feeling inspired and encouraged in your walk in the Lord! My Review

Oh My, Oh My!!! I will start by saying I really appreciate a novel that I can sit and read without having to worry about any bad words or areas that you would rather not read in a book. And the Last Resort is a novel in which I would very much pass on to any one... including my seventeen year old granddaughter. Praise the Lord for Authors who can write an awesome story that includes suspense, laughter, anger, romance, fighting, (A Pink Lady) hint: you will need to read the novel to find out what that or who that pertains to.

B. J. Robinson is such an Author, and I am very pleased and honored to have previewed and to have been asked to review her novel. From the Dedication to the last page I was enthralled into another life and time. Last Resort took on a whole different meaning for me. Even though it was stated that some of the incidents were based on true events, the book is a work of fiction, I still found myself picking strawberries, fishing and other things that B.J. Robinson writes within the pages of her novel.

Faith Grace Roussell: One of the leading characters, and right off the bat is meet head on with another main character, Matt Allen. And I do mean, with a turned dinner upside down, Strawberry Cake all over him. Matt came into the room and ran face to face with Faith's prized strawberry shortcake. I loved it. What a way to open the novel. Faith is a good ole gale that has been hurt and decided to come back home to work the families strawberry farm. Matt Allen is a single, and "well-built as a cruise ship" type of man. And even though Faith is not looking for a man, after getting her strawberry cake dumped on him she at least has a good look.

Lilly is some one to be reckoned with if you get in her way. And Faith seems to do just that. Nan is Faiths friend and is great to give words of encouragement. and we can't for get to mention Sunflower, which is Faith's sweet and faithful little dog. Alright I know there is a couple more characters in the story, but for now the only one left to mention here is Fred, and on that note we will just say he is not in town to be nice. He wants Faith back in the city and back in his arms.

This novel made me cry, laugh, remember some good ole days myself!! And if you have ever been will lets just say "watched" and things just keep happening and you can't make sense of it... well this novel will take you there right off the bat. I am not going to give away any part of the novel, But you need to read this Last Resort, (A Pink Lady) and wonderful romance.

I enjoyed the scriptures and prayers through out the novel. The depending upon the Lord and asking for Him to take care of things. B. J. Robinson has done a wonderfully amazing job showing how if we put God first, no matter what we are going through we can get through....

So for that and her amazing writing of this novel I am giving this novel, Last Resort, my rating of

Today's review is on Last Resort by BJ Robinson

A welcoming change from books filled with senseless sexual encounters, Last Resort is filled with a romance that we often dream of. A romance that comes from being friends first and blossoms into a beautiful love like the beauty of God's flowers. It's a wonderful story of strength and perseverance, as much as it is of true love and faith in God.

"Two roads diverged in a yellow wood", and sadly the road that Faith Grace Roussell has traveled on has been a heartbreaking one. She's lost her mother to cancer and her sister to an eating disorder. Her one comfort is knowing that they are both with Jesus watching over her.

Now she's back in Bridal Wreath, Florida, living in her childhood home and working her mother's strawberry farm. Little did she know that The Lord had bigger things in store for her.

Attending an after-church meal, Faith is surprised when the handsome Matt Allen runs right into her, smashing strawberry shortcake between them. After cleaning up and enjoying some of the bountiful food, Matt hops in his truck to leave and a shot rings out. Thankfully he wasn't harmed, and everyone chocks it up to a hunters stray bullet.

Matt lives just next door and has offered to help her at every turn. But Faith has already had her heart broken by one man, and doesn't want to go down that road again. But Faith realizes that keeping him out of her heart isn't going to be easy, as events seem to be pushing them closer and closer together.

Even though she is the victim of violence again and again, neither her nor Matt ever loose their faith. They are able to find the good that God provides in everything, and a deep love for each other. But can they have their Happily Ever After? Or will the unseen enemy get to them first.

Written with such beauty and grace, Last Resort is an exceptional example of an inspirational romance novel. I look forward to reading more from Robinson in the future.

Is their love really enough? Despite a rocky beginning, Faith and Matt find that they are obviously meant for each other. Not only do their strawberry farms connect, but they share the same strong faith. Both have suffered failed romances in the past, but now their future looks bright. Unfortunately, Faith’s psychotic ex-boyfriend Fred doesn’t see it that way. He will stop at nothing to get Faith back, whether she likes it or not. Terrorized by vandalism, arson, and even attempted murder, Faith and Matt manage to move forward, despite ever increasing odds against them.

Sometimes I found the couple’s reaction to adversity almost ‘Pollyanna’ like. It was nice to see Christian people putting their beliefs into action, but I had to wonder at times at the saintly outlook. To counter this, the ‘bad guys’ are somewhat one dimensional. Fred is just plain evil and Lilly, a woman out to snare Matt for herself, is the typical shallow diva. However, these types of stock characters can be quite entertaining, so I enjoyed this aspect of the book. There is a lot of action and the main characters find themselves in much hot water, however, for the most part, Barbara Robinson’s Last Resort reads like the sweet Christian romance it is.

I was spellbound by Last Resort and B. J. Robinson. I loved the characters and didn't want to put the book down until I found out what happened to Matt and Faith. It kept my attention wanting to know what happened with the ex. She kept me guessing until the end, and I loved the surprise twists woven throughout. Those ending chapters really kept me on my toes. Vivid description made me want to go to Key West. I could smell the food Faith cooked and the strawberries. Wouldn't mind eating with those characters. This a work of fiction written so realistically it seems real, and I look forward to reading more books from this author.

I have to admit that up until I read this book I was a christian romance virgin. Ms. Robinson has written a fantastic romance with a touch of suspense thrown in. Faith Rouselle has returned to the town she grew up in to run her mothers strawberry farm. She also came to escape her abusive ex-boyfriend who is determined to get her back no matter what the cost.

I was drawn to this story as it contains a great romance, a lot of suspense and faith in God that all will work out in the end. Bravo to Ms.. Robinson who spins a fantastic story that makes the reader root for the heroine. 5 lush strawberry plants for a great read.

This is really good book. I liked the heroine so much. She was faithful, brave, caring. The hero is quite a guy. But horrid events keep escalating. I really rooted for them.

Wonderful tidbits about Key West.

The book made me want to brew a pot of tea and have a slice of strawberry shortcake. Yummy.

I was drawn right into Faith's life, in this book, the twists and turns kept me guessing which I love in a good mystery, I am glad I discovered BJ Robinson and her gifted pen, I would highly recommend Last Resort to anyone who wants to read a good Romantic Suspense novel. I have been a long time fan of Collen Coble and Terri Blackstock and I would say I would rate this book right up with theirs.

Last Resort in 140 characters or less: Girl meets boy. Girl denies obvious interest. Enter abusive ex, girl’s rival 4 boy. <3, shots, property damage. Co-conspirators? Suspense!

In Last Resort, the debut title on Desert Breeze Publishing from B.J. Robinson, Faith Roussell settles in a small, fictional Florida town after leaving a broken and abusive relationship.

Faith’s best friend, introduces her to Matt: a clumsy cowboy destined to win Faith’s heart. But the flirtatious Lilly, who rivals Faith for Matt‘s heart, makes her affection for him known while Faith openly denies her own.

Meanwhile, Fred, Faith’s jilted ex, pursues her with a vengeance. He wants Faith back at all costs -- enough to threaten her life on numerous occasions. But is he acting alone? Maybe, maybe not.

Last Resort is written in descriptive language that paints the picturesque southern backdrop well. Yet, it is not so thick that it makes for dragging exposition.

The romance, well-penned sensory details, and build-up action sequences are where Last Resort shines. Matt and Faith’s repartee is believable and light on the syrup. I easily bought into their courtship.

But elements of the book’s dual plot were lacking for me. It’s credible in spots, not so much in others. But Robinson baited my hook REALLY WELL in the book’s final acts.

If I sat down with B.J. and had three questions, I would ask the following: Why wasn’t Fred a prime suspect at first? Why did he willingly let Faith go in the first place? And if she “escaped” from him, wouldn’t the first place he would think she went is her old hometown?

For a story rich in southern charm, romance, and a redemptive Christian message, Last Resort fits the bill.

Last Resort had a good story line. It wasn't the normal book I would read but B.J. really captures the reader to wonder what would happen next.
