Niki Bryant passed out in her room and had a late night roommate. The next morning she discovers a man in her bed. The hotel had given them both keys in a mixup. She was on heavy meds and he was drunk. But not to drunk to deny himself a taste of the angel in his bed. Months later, the proof from that night together comes back to haunt the unlikely couple, with amazing results.
"Hello,I'm a self-proclaimed read-a-holic. I love most genres and would rather read than do most things. Stands to reason, that I'd have this inexplicable love affair with the written word!
Reading was the balm that soothed me during tough times as a single mother, working two jobs. As things leveled out, I found I enjoyed the places books took me, there was a certain solace learning about various times and cultures. When I began traveling, many of the places I visited felt like old friends. I could envision the characters from the books walking the cobbled streets, or running along the swift moving streams.
After twenty years of reading and collecting my favorite authors, I decided to indulge my passion for storytelling. I took classes, invested in seminars and sat nervously across the table from editors. It was a lengthy process, Finally, I got the courage to allow the market to judge my work. The market can be a brutal, but I think fair, mistress. Hard work is rewarded and appreciated. Slackers don't stand a chance. :-)."
I hate "heroines" like this. Misunderstanding results in a one night stand and pregnancy. this man did NOTHING wrong, yet she treats him like shit and tries to deny his rights as a father. After all, "why does he want anything to do with this?" They are "her" babies. Bitch please. Even after admitting he has rights AND going back to screwing the guy she acts like all decisions are up to her and shes doing him some kind of favor. Again, bitch, please. She had no plans to even tell this man he was going to have kids walking around the planet and I'm supposed to like her?
It's my first go around with this author. And for me the story really did it for me. I surely felt good reading about the boy girl twin aspect as I can relate being a boy girl twin myself. Other than me liking the read maybe two things bothered me, but it didn't deflect how I felt about the book.
After a long day and not feeling too great, Nicole went to her hotel room in Chicago and took some prescription pills that had her knocked out. Later on that evening, Tony, being a little drunk went to his room. Both Nicole and Tony ended up in the same room and that begins an interesting read through out the story.
When reading the book, you definitely got an interesting first chapter, a good way to start a book. After that night, it was months until both Tony and Nicole seen each. That part dip in and out a bit for me just a little tiny bit, but, I think the author was allowing the reader to get to know Nicole and Tony individually, and I was ok with that. Tony and Nicole's chemistry felt good to read once they were together again. I love the twist that connected both Tony and Nicole. And I love reading about both their families.
I have to say the ending, without giving anything away I think, I wanted Nicole to say more than I know. I know how they feel about each other but that made me sad a little. Not nit picking, but after going through what they did, it would be nice. I think with an ending like that an epilogue would have done the trick. Other than that a good read that I enjoyed and I would read more from this author again.

This is my first book by this author and I have to say I really enjoyed it. It was a short but good read. It started off with a bang with a super hot sex scene that was to good to be true, but really was! I have to admit, I thought it was a dream at first to. Once you read you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. Niki was a very stubborn character and she rejected Tony from their very first interlude which turned into a blessing in disguise due to the circumstance she found herself in. Every time these two were together it was just extreme fireworks; the sex scenes were really off the hook. The background stories about their families were also really interesting. I can definitely see a follow up book featuring Rissa & Gale. I don't want to give too much away, but I will say this book had it all, and it is certainly worth the time to read.
4 stars. This book was very interesting. They were part that I was not happy in regards of her not telling the Tony about the babies and I understand her as well. It was a one night that this occur, but got pregnant. But Tony wanted to see her again; She was just overwhelmed stress after she saw him. I was at the edge of my seat when they were at the party the same time and still didn't see each other, WTF! But finally they did. Very well played Ms. Knowles, a book well written, Bravo!
I gave the book 3.5 stars. I would have given it 4 but I kept going back and forth with my like/dislike for Niki. I was a bit annoyed that she laid all the blame at Tony's feet, Yes he was drunk but Niki readily admitted, to herself at least, that she mixed her migraine meds and sleeping pills. She even took an extra sleeping pill which impaired her as well. The true fault lies with the hotel and it's staff. I would have been suing them left and right. Tony could have easily walked away buy he was willing to take responsibly for his part in. I did like Nana Rita and Nana Bea, but thought she was a bit over the top with what happened. Not sure what the purpose of the David character other than the creep factor. I was surprised everyone tried pushing Niki in his direction.
Niki is the epitome of strong women, and that girl took no prisoners,.. wow I can only imagine … Sometimes, God works in mysterious ways! Lucky for them, they both are wonderful people, and after Niki bypassed her stubbornness, they came to a compromise and worked things out. They are great together. I expected an extended epilogue or something… you know where both be and Rita loved Tony, the man is an awesome man, their granddaughter could do worse. And what’s the bottom line with Mason and also David!?
Be aware that your security lock is in place in your hotel room. I always do !
I’m going to give another review, I bought this when I had Barnes & Noble app. I have a lot of Knowles books in there. When I saw is I felt like I read it before, but because I’ve been in the Kindle app for 11 years I forgot until I purchased it and started reading. The was always a good story, and her other series, I might have repurchase what I can because going back and forth I don’t really do that much, I love the Kindle and all it offers. I’m not mad for buying it again it was a great read
Nana Bea don't play when it comes to her Niki. She is one tough old Southern belle. One thing I enjoyed about Tony is his love for his family. You will LOVE Niki personality. Wonderful characters!
Absolutely loved it, very creative storyline, the Nana's was something else. Nikki's and Tony first meeting was hilarious, and totally unexpected. I really enjoyed all the coincidence and surprise meeting. Definitely recommend this book.
Nikki and Tony were so good together both are true Alpha's Nikki didn't allow Tony to run over her. Tony was a very determined man that wasn't going to give up
This is the second book I read in the month of February where I had issues with the female lead. In this text, I simply Did Not like Nicole (Niki) Bryant. And I mean Really didn't like her. She was a selfish, spoiled brat. The woman we meet in chapter 1 disappears. Even with a headache, she still seems fair, honest and willing to give people or a person a chance. She does not come off as some type of unethical business woman. But later in the text, that is exactly the person she becomes with Tony Brunson, the father of her twins. Attempting to buy him off, for example. I also had a hard time believing she was so native about David. A multi millionaire business woman can't figure out that David is trophy hunting? I also did not like the warlord like grand mothers. And I would have been so pissed off if my grandmother acted like Nana Bea did at the dinner. She's supposed to be some Southern Belle? She basically tells Tony's parents that he is not good enough. And the justification by Niki's cousin Rissi does not work for me. At the end, Nana Rita does make peace with him, but Nana Bea is still very distant from him. Don't get me wrong, I did like this text ok. I liked how Niki and Tony argued over the phone. I liked there 3 interracial relationships: one Niki and Tony, two Rissi and Gayle and three Niki's Aunt and her boyfriend Ahmed. I thought Niki's desire for food was hilarious. David getting caught by Niki was also funny. There were grammatical errors through out the story. And there were, what I like to call, ghosts of drafts pasts. For example, in chapter 9 Niki is wearing a gown and then in very next paragraph she is wearing a tee shirt and shorts (location 1638 for kindle readers). I thought the author was expecting a lot of the reader to accept Niki changes from not wanting Tony involved to allowing him a role just because he explains the situation to Rissi and Gayle. I also wanted more detail on what Niki and Tony did the day she left the hotel with him. That would have been the time we see how he works to change her opinion of him. It was glossed over, but we get bogged down with other details that aren't really needed like her break down at the house or her beauty appointment. There seems to be a lack of balance in the text. I liked them together. I liked how he made love to her and romanced her. I also liked her better after they settled Tony's role in the lives of the babies. She seems to have grown up and was making decisions for herself and Tony and their family with out the nanas. I also did not like the cover. Tony looks like a hulking bouncer instead of an archaeologist. And Niki looks like a young woman and not like a well dressed business woman.

A call to dispute, prove or justify something-like reading this book 2.75 stars. I have read and throughly enjoyed 5 or 6 of this author's books and I think Erosa Knowles is a good writer but; this book is a disappointment and a frustrating read-in a bad way. To start, the book is 92% or 105 pages of the 114 pages allotted, within the first three chapters, 14% or 16 pages, the protagonist Nicole "Nikki" Bryant and Garrett Anthony "Tony" Brunson, find that they have had unprotected sex due to human error, accidentally being assigned to the same hotel room and coincidence, each having a "wet" dream while comatose from migraine meds and alcoholic beverages respectively. The next 60 pages or 53% of the book is about their relatives and about Nikki erasing all evidence of their encounter and about Tony trying to find her and the discovery that his twin sister and her cousin are lovers. The last 4 chapters, 29 pages or 25% has them reunited, in love, having twins and deciding to marry. This would have made a better book at 45 or 50 pages.
I wish I could give this read 4 stars because I loved the pairing, really they are so darn sweet, but the ending was just too fast for me. Honestly, with how harsh of a critic I am, it's a wonder I didn't give it 2 stars. Nothing else that went on in the book outside of Nikki and Tony getting together and having the kids was explained. I don't know why this author even bothered mentioning all the background information and twists of all the other characters if she was going to give us a 'wham, bam, thank you ma'am' ending that wouldn't back up anything she'd put together. It's pretty pointless to use other characters like props rather than intricate parts of the story. Which, in actuality, is exactly what this author did when she ended this book so abruptly.
This is my second book by this author and I must say that I enjoyed reading it as well. The idea of the hotel mix up as a plot was great and different. Although the chance that the man you end up with in your room is that handsome is definitely a dream!LOL
I wish the book was a little longer, giving us more detail on the relationship between Nikki and Tony and also I would have like to know a little more about the Nana's (they were great).
We were also left hanging on some of the secondary characters: David (what was his reason for wanting to date Nikki knowing that she was pregnant with another man's baby.), Tony arch enemy Mason ( Did he ever get caught or did he realize that he was on a wild goose chase?).
Had this book in my TBR pile for quite sometime now......Niki was a very stubborn character and she rejected Tony after their very first incounter. This was a pretty good read when Niki and Tony's finally got together again there were sparks flying all over the place.....Would like to have read more on the who the whats and whys of David......what was up with Mason and why was David hiding the fact he had been seeing Brenda? What was David really after why he kept trying to get with Niki? So maybe there's a follow up somewhere......
I liked this one. It was a captivating novella, that I was able to finish in about 2 hours. However, I do have to say that there was some lag, along with a few grammatical errors, and not to mention, some goofy shenanigans that seemed just a little farfetched.
One thing that I really found to be seriously annoying was the lack of a proper epilogue. Without it, the book comes off as being incomplete.
Other than that, this was a fun read for a lazy Sunday afternoon.
I really enjoyed Niki and Tony, they had a lot of chemistry, but the book just stop. Is this going to be a series, we don't know what happen with Mason or David, I think it would have add a lot more suspend to the story. I love the grandmothers and I got were they where coming from in their overprotectiveness of Niki.
Really 2.5, struggled with the grandmothers...maybe their history is in another book but because they are complex characters it felt weird to have them kinda dropped in with these dynamic personalities and not know why they are the way they are. Nikki felt kinda spoilt, but I like the idea behind the stories.
I am not sure really what to say about the whole thing. The story line was very interesting and I liked a lot of the characters. I am glad I read the book well for one is was not a bad read and I love to read so there you go. LOL I almost did not write any review at all but for some reason I feel I have to say something. So there you have it.
Very choppy writing. Jumped around a bit and there was no consistency. relationship was under-done. No real true interaction between the two..not enough anyway to explain them falling in love. Maybe this was one of her first books because I had read one by this author before that was pretty good. this was not good.
I really liked this book. I was giddy with laughter while reading it. what I don't like is having certain parts of the story go unresolved. I also wish there was more of a story of them together and getting to know each other rather than the background of who they are. otherwise it was an enjoyable read
This book had a pretty good premise, but it just felt incomplete. Like what ever happened to Mason (did I miss that?) or why was David hounding Niki (he was still calling her when she went into labor). Those are two decent sized plot lines that weren't wrapped up by the end of the book.
Niki's Challenge is good romantic interracial novel that earned a rating of four stars. I enjoyed reading this book and I would recommend this book to anyone who likes reading good romance novels.
