There are trends in Young Adult-Paranormal Romance literature directed at adolescent girls that I cannot help but be appalled by. These trends include anti-feminism and possessive and controlling male love interests. Anyone who has read Twilight, Halo, Hush, Hush, or any other scorned YA book that has been frequently reviewed by members of the goodreads community knows exactly what I am talking about. Whereas some people might enjoy these books, others, like myself, cannot overcome these unhealthy themes in literature directed at an easily manipulated audience.
I was excited when I bought this book on Amazon for my Kindle Fire earlier today. The amount of five-star reviews was astounding, especially for a book I had never even heard of. I love mythology, I love PNR, and I love YA literature. I did not love Creatura. I did not even like it. It was unfortunate that this book had not received attention from any of the reviewers I do follow, as those reviewers would have likely warned me away from this. It was unfortunate that I had to experience this story for myself. Hopefully, my review will enlighten those who are drawn in by the ambiguous summary and numerous five-star ratings.
To begin with, I love strong female characters. Isis, the main character of Creatura, had potential; unfortunately, this potential fell short, and any respect I had for her in the beginning half of the novel faded as her love for the main love interest, David, grew.
Creatura takes place in the small Texas town of Los Fresnos. We are introduced to the main character and narrator of the novel, Isis, who suffers from insomnia. She is too afraid to sleep because a terrifying and ferocious beast plagues her dreams.
Isis' insomnia also takes its toll on her mother, Claire, who constantly worries about her daughter's health. Claire is described as an attractive thirty-year old single mother. She had Isis when she was eighteen, and she married her husband/high school sweetheart after graduating from high school, but was constantly cheated on and eventually filed for divorce when Isis was twelve. Claire's husband died a short while later. I didn't really understand why Isis called her mother Claire, but I'm not going to fault the author for doing so -- even though I was constantly reminded of Twilight's Bella constantly calling her father by his name. However, in that story, they were not close. In Creatura, the mother and daughter act very close to each other.
With help from her best friend's, Andy's (Andrea), father -- also the town's psychiatrist, Isis attempts to overcome her fear of sleeping. The sleeping pills her doctor prescribed aid in this attempt.
In the dream, Isis learns to conquer her fear. I admired her for this. Instead of shying away from confronting the beast in her dream, she stands up to it. Instead of a beast, a handsome man with wings is the actual perpetrator behind the bad dreams. This handsome man goes by the name of David, and despite being the cause of her insomnia for three months, he's actually been monitoring her dreams for an entire year. Although I did not think this was as creepy as Edward watching Bella sleep, it was just about up there on the weird factor.
Isis is convinced that David is a figment of her imagination. He, however, decides to prove her wrong. David does this by enrolling in her school as a student. When Isis understandably freaks out at his appearance (as she still thinks he is a figment of her imagination), David abducts her. He pacifies her with a kiss, which manages to numb her into complacency. He then explains who he is and why he is there: he is a divine being akin to a mythological god, and he's there to find out how Isis managed to enter (in her dreams) a land under David's rule known as Terra Somnium. Her being there goes against Divine Law, but David is curious to know more about her, and it seems he has fallen in love with Isis. Cough, insta-love, cough.
This is, of course, after telling Isis about the Creatura, which are the reason divine beings and mortals cannot be together. Once upon a time, mortals and immortals copulated and produced beings known as Creatura who are described as awful monsters. Eventually, the Creatura were wiped out from existence, and the immortals separated from the mortals, but some immortals do live incognito among the humans. However, they know not to fall in love with humans.
Despite David insta-loving Isis, I was able to continue to respect Isis for keeping her distance because she actually understood how futile it would be to be together. Unfortunately, she gradually fell in love with him and lost all my respect for her in the process.
Now onto discussing my big pet-peeves:
Controlling boys
But it's okay, because jealousy is attractive, right?
Wrong.
Let me quote something for you, from 26%:
"Hey, Isis!" Simon, one of the football players greeted me as we passed each other in the hall.
"Hi Simon. See ya later." I waved.
David grasped my hand and stopped walking. I tried to let myself loose, but his grip was far too tight.
"David, you're hurting me," I pleaded. He loosened his grip but did not release his hold.
"Who...was...that?" His jaw was tight and his eyes were infuriated.
"He's a guy in my class. Let me go." I was partially whining.
"Do you fancy him?" His mouth was a flat line.
"That's none of your business," I said, trying to pry his fingers from my hand. He took hold of that hand too. Giving up on the custody battle for my limbs, I looked up at him questionably. Why was he acting this way?
Let me tell you why he's acting that way, Isis.
BECAUSE HE'S BAD NEWS. If that doesn't send off warning signs in your pretty little "I'm taking advanced classes for college credit" head, then this next quote from David should: "Isis, I am envious of every male that sets his sights on you, and if I could, I would tear out their eyes." (28%)
Oh, and a third whammy from David: "Promise me you will never love anyone more than you love me."
"Are you saying good-bye?" My heart began to hurt.
"No. I'm securing my treasure." (89%)
Ahahahahahaha.
Idiot main character
Okay, so our main character is a Mary Sue. She's described as smart (I fail to see the evidence behind this), beautiful, loved by everyone, and then the author goes on to put her in situations where her overwhelming kindness is revealed.
Isis has an ex-boyfriend named Gabriel. He graduated from high school a year before her, and shortly dumped her afterward. Via text message. When he comes back over spring break after Isis and David are finally getting together, he wants to get back together with her. Plot twist: he's bat-shit crazy, and he's carrying a gun.
Despite the fact that he forcefully kisses Isis against her will and harasses her constantly, she feels bad for him and wants to help him overcome his troubles, which she assumes is a drug addiction. Even after he ends up pulling a gun on her best friends Andy and Bill, she still races to help him when he texts her "need help."
Needless to say, the main character pissed me off. Oh, and despite her excessively stupid save-the-world nature, she also tried to blame everything regarding Gabriel on herself: "Clearly the guy was screaming out for help in every attempt he made to reach out to me. I should have contacted his parents when this was all happening. I should have told my mother. I should have tried to talk to him in a civilized manner instead of brushing him off. Everything that was happening was my fault -- I could see that now. I was to blame for the trauma Gabriel caused Andy and Bill and for the jealousy that burned in Gabriel that caused him to point a gun at my friends. I was to blame for his disappearance." (86%)
Please, there is no way this girl can be described as smart and act/think like such an idiot.
Miscellaneous
Stereotypes: I'm so sick of the cheerleader being portrayed as the school bitch just because she is pretty and confident. It's not like she's even bullying the main character; she just has her eye on David and is forward in her attraction. This means she's obviously the worst bitch on the planet and obviously a slut for being so forward!
Editing errors: "We've just met me" (28%). Yes, we have, Isis. And this is crazy... I'll just leave it at that.
Stupid plot twists:

Vomit worthy poetry: "Your guise is unparalleled, Your touch entices my thirst, Your presence thaws my soul, My torso threatens to burst" (35%). Please, gag me. I've never claimed to be a romantic. I'm actually pretty much the polar opposite of one. But still, being reduced to reading multiple lines of romantic poetry was nauseating.
I feel I've listed enough grievances. I read the entire book, so I'm entitled to my opinion, which seems to be vastly different from the overwhelming amount of five-star ratings this book has received.
If you can stomach something that reads akin to Twilight, well, good for you. I'm just putting this review forth with the hope that I can provide a different viewpoint for those on the fence about buying this book.

This was an amusing book for fans of Paranormal Young Adult/High School Romances. ...taking a deep breath... However, I want to stand before you and admit that
I am not the target audience of this book
. Somehow I missed the YA warning signs in the book's description before I picked it up. That is my fault, not the author's, and I regret that it kept me from enjoying the book. And more importantly, I regret that it affected my rating of the book, but I feel compelled to write an honest review.
I'd like to start by saying that the description of this book provided by the publisher only addresses the first one or two chapters, and fails to describe the plot of this book.
It had a fun and original premise:
Isis is a lucid dreamer (able to control her dream-state) her control seems to be slipping because a dark figure is haunting her dreams. When she finally gains the courage to confront the intimidating specter, she states out loud (and to the creature) "you are not Real."
The creature decides to prove that he is real by showing up at Isis's high school and enrolling as a student. The plot improves from there - a creation story, ancient Gods, star-crossed lovers, jealous ex-boyfriends, etc.
If you are a teenage girl, sure, you should read this book. It's romantic. It's age appropriate. The male love interest is cute, sweet, and possessive without being eerily creepy. If you are an adult, perhaps you should consider skipping this little gem.
The heroine and her friends are 17 years old and seniors in high school, with all the trappings of the age group - school functions, clique-y teenagers, angst... absurd dialogue...

Is anyone else weirded out by a 300ish year old God hitting on a 17 year old virgin high school student? Just me? Oh... One more reason I am obviously not the target audience.
I didn't enjoy over-the-top cringe-worthy teenage poetry when I was a teenager... I assure you, I have not warmed to the medium over the years either. And there was A TON of it. That's kind of the cherry on top of the sundae worth of reasons I was not the target audience for this book.
Every single little plot twist in this book was obvious.

It was very, very nice!

I feel very lucky, and there are a few reasons for my sudden burst of luck. First, Creatura is the first book that I actually WON on a giveaway. Second is because this book was great, and I feel very good - apart from the usual sadness that comes with the last page of a book like this and the beginning of waiting for the sequel, of course – when I have the chance to read and review an awesome story.
Isis has had a happy childhood and a normal teenage life, but in the last three months her sleep is tormented by horrible nightmares. Tired – literally – she decides to confront the beast that appears in front of her every time she closes her lids. The result of the confrontation is as stunning as possible: the creature takes a human form and assures Isis he’s not a figment of her imagination, but a real young man. To prove it, he shows up at her school and enrolls as a student under the name of David Chios.
“I’m going to tell you my name, since you’re too shy to ask.”.... “It’s David . . .” He slowly leaned in toward my face, “. . . and I’m real.”...I suddenly recognized that voice...
“I win,” he grinned.”
Isis really tries not to like him, part because he’s not like her and part because she knows it won’t get her anywhere. Although he looks like an eighteen year old boy, David is actually about two thousand and a deity. Romantic involvement between a human and a deity are strictly forbidden. But will David leave her alone?
“It is as forbidden as is the illicit fruit of Hades, and yet, even he has eaten from it.”
“I beg you to abnegate me because I don’t have the strength to renounce you.”
The Isis – David dialogues are smart and fun. When all the other girls would have let down their guard for a guy like him, she stands her ground and makes it difficult for him to get her. But David is persistent and ready to sacrifice a lot for Isis and their relationship development is smooth and natural. You’ll love the way David treats Isis, he’s the perfect boyfriend material: intelligent, handsome and charming. You can' not have your toes curl and your heart melt when you see all David does to win her over...
“Careful," he smiled, "I'm lethal.”
“My heart will not beat again until my sight rests upon your emerald eyes,” he whispered into my ear.”
Another thing I loved in this story is the family interactions. They make the story very real and help the reader to connect with the characters in an incredible way! Isis and her mother love each other very much and it shows in all the things they do. You’ll say that all the children love their parents and vice-versa, but this seemed somehow deeper. They don’t keep secrets from each other, at least that’s what Isis thinks, and there are some endearing moments when she plays the parent and her mother the teenager. It’s cute how Claire listens to her daughter’s advice and how she’s a real drama queen sometimes.
“Mom, I have to tell you something,”...... “Oh my God, you’re pregnant.”
In the Chios family the main word is RESPECT. One mother, three sons. Nice! All of them love and respect her and they love each other as well, although they try to look indifferent at times. Erix and Galen will have David’s back anytime, whether they approve of his decisions or not. Their father is also an interesting character, you’ll see what I mean.
Creatura is a story about family, trust, pure love and sacrifice spiced with mystery, suspense and mythology. I truly appreciate Nely’s eye for details – there’s a specific tea scene with David’s family that comes to my mind when I say this – all the scenes in the book are awesomely described. You'll love her fabulous, lyrical writing style. We also get to know some cool stuff about Texas, like the school schedule which is very different than ours and really interesting and how great Hispanic people are. This book is a must-read for all of you.

Erix and Galen will have David’s back anytime, whether they approve of his decisions or not. Their father is also an interesting character, you’ll see what I mean.
Creatura is a story about family, trust, pure love and sacrifice spiced with mystery, suspense and mythology. I truly appreciate Nely’s eye for details – there’s a specific tea scene with David’s family that comes to my mind when I say this – all the scenes in the book are awesomely described. You'll love her fabulous, lyrical writing style. We also get to know some cool stuff about Texas, like the school schedule which is very different than ours and really interesting and how great Hispanic people are. This book is a must-read for all of you.

Last night, when I finished this book, I was confused. Now, I’m angry as hell. I tend to respect authors, because I admire their hard work but this... This was not hard work, this was shit. Who the hell would publish this?!
I mean, I write too. For fun. Whenever I’m sad or angry, I just imagine a different world, where my main character is a Mary Sue and everything is fucking pink. But when I read it, I realize it’s not a novel, it’s just shit. Maybe Nelly Cab was too in love with her story to realize it’s shit. Well, that’s what editors are for.
The story itself is boring as hell. The idea - that the Greek Gods are real - may have been interesting, but it’s not. You can skip half the book and you’d still get it. The climax is shit. To have a climax, you have to build some tension, but throughout the book, the author tries her best to make you forget that Gabriel even exists, so you can’t worry about him even if you try. But the real problem with this “novel” is the relationship between Isis and David.
I get that he’s a God. Does that give him any right to be an abusive boyfriend? I think not. I read the book in Romanian, so I can’t prove my point with actual quotes, but I was so enraged that I remember passages:
• Right at the beginning, Isis says ‘Hello’ to a guy friend. David just grabs her by the wrist, makes a scene in the middle of the school and acts all violent. She is mad... for about two hours. But because he has a really cute puppy face, she forgives him. Even worse, she ends up apologizing because she overreacted. Girl, are you retarded? You take college courses in high school, so you should have a brain. Guess what, you don’t. You are retarded. Go kill yourself.
• Throughout the book, whenever she does something he does not approve of, he uses “logic” to prove he is right and if that doesn’t work, he acts sad/mad until SHE apologizes. Even if he was an asshole, SHE always apologizes. The scene I hated the most is when he stars kissing her on the couch, caressing her and they hear her mom’s car. He gets up and says something like “Don’t ever do that again, I wouldn’t want to be caught in such a compromising position.” Girl, just kill him. Please.
• Later in the book, Isis slaps David because he admitted he asked another God to make her love him. Two seconds later, her hand starts to disappear. Then her arm and her shoulder follow. Her freaking heart is next. All because David can’t forgive her. She almost dies, before that admitting she loves him, and only then does he manage to forgive her for slapping him. SHE ALMOST DIED! And guess who apologizes? Yep, her. For slapping him. KILL YOURSELF!!!
• She writes in her fucking diary that she is a fucking slave. And she’s super-happy about that! I want her dead, now. It should be illegal to be this stupid.
In the end, I don’t think I have a problem with the fact that some chick thinks that being in an abusive relationship is the coolest thing ever. That’s her problem. My problem is that she wrote a book that someone published so TEENAGERS would read it. What if they start thinking this is normal? Worse, this shit has been translated to multiple languages. This is usually a sign that a book is worth something. But THIS IS SHIT! I would totally do a “This is Sparta!” on the author. Thank God this book didn’t have a sequel. I hope it’s not because Nelly Cab hasn’t written it yet, but because some sane person from her publishing house realized this is shit.

This review must begin with a tip of the hat to all the authors that are able to capture the worlds that exist in their heads and share it with us. Without these creative, imaginative people my world would be a dull one indeed. As one might deduce, I respect authors and therefore really hate giving out bad reviews. I am compelled however to give an honest (and probably brutal one) for Creatura. I was really looking forward to reading this story and judging by all the positive reviews I thought I was in for a wonderful read. (I wasn't)
I really struggled through this book- truly, considered putting it down after Chapter 3. The concept, although not original, is something I thoroughly enjoy re-reading time and time again. I truly wanted to adore this book. Because:
1. I'm a sucker for a Beauty and the Beast storyline.
2. I enjoy the reimagining of Creation stories, especially when there is a love story and a Pantheon involved.
But probably, the most compeling reason I went into this story with high hopes, is that,
3. Ms. Cab is from my neck of the woods and is a representative of my Latina community, which-in my not so humble opinion- is sorely underrepresented in the publishing world.
Sadly, even with all of these factors in play, the book fell short of even being a mediocre read.
I think that the problem was that the concept was a little bit too big for a novice writer. While reading it, you get the sense that there this really wonderful story underneath the rubbish dialogue, but it never emerges. And the dialogue, I think, might be what kills the story. The author tries to weave vernacular language with $5 words and phrases. It doesn’t work. The author needs to stick with one, and run with it. Are you cool and like, totally able to relate to a YA audience or are you a high-browed elitist who prefers to use words like matriculate.
Then there's the characters. :-(
Isis, the main character is the proverbial flip-flopper. "OMG, I <3 him." "Ugh, he's so not the one for me." "He's going to be the perfect husband,sigh. "Get married?!?! I'm 17 I can't get married! I need to live my life."
David, the lead male, is too perfect for words. Except when he's kidnapping our heroine, squeezing the life out of her- "Oops, I forgot what a delicate thing you are, my mortal love." Otherwise he’s the perfect tween hero, who writes sappy poetry that sets hearts a flutter.
The parents, the brothers, the friends…ugh, I don't think I can go on, but I think my point has been made.
I don't like to tell people not to read a book, because tastes differ BUT I will tell you not to spend any money on this book. Borrow it from your public library, borrow it from a friend, you and your wallet will surely thank me in the long run.

After much deliberation, I'm still not sure what I can say about this book to really convey how much it has affected me. Reading the blurb you assume you'll be reading a typical YA paranormal romance story.
There is not much typical about this world of Creatura Nely has created. It is finely crafted with lively characters, touching and realistic relationships, beautiful prose (especially when David is "speaking"), and jaw dropping-shell-shocking-my heart just fell through the floor and was stomped on by a giant-gut wrenching-uncontrollable out and out sobbing inducing emotion. I am not exaggerating here.
The feelings Isis and David's story brought out in me were not just felt in my head. My heart was literally aching.
I'll admit, I get emotionally involved with all my favorite characters, but something about Creatura touched me deeply. It wasn't just the relationship between Isis and David, but also between Isis and her mother. As well as the colorful dynamics among David's family. They all have strong bonds. The kind everyone hopes to have. The kind that makes you feel secure in your life and yourself. Unconditional. Unyielding.
The story was fast paced and exciting. At times frightening and maddening. But always entertaining and enthralling. More than hard to put down. And of course, there's the completely, COMPLETELY, unexpected cliffhanger.
Creatura is spectacular in it's uniqueness. It is beautiful and lyical. This a book I will be talking about for a very long time. I recommend it for everyone. I anxious to see where Nely takes us next. I wait with bated breath...

AMAZING! This was one of those books where once I started I just couldn't stop! No eating or sleeping til I finished which was about 1 this morning. However even when I was finished I couldn't stop thinking about the book, I looked it that much. I couldn't sleep after finishing it because my mind kept playing out different scenarios of what could happen in the sequel. ( OH I hope there is a sequel!!) And then when I did finally go to sleep my dream continued on the same path as my mind was on so of course that meant I dreamed about David (soo blush-worthy)! OK so ill stop being a teeny bopper for a minute and try to right my review and post it soon!
MY REVIEW:
Creatura was super exciting. I mean come on it's got several hot guys (gods). Nely Cab really did an amazing job. I fell completely in love with the characters. Creatura was one of those can't eat, can't sleep, can't stop thinking about, and stalking my dreams kind of book. (All in a good way of course!) And in case you're wondering what I mean; I'm' talking about a book that's so good you don't want to eat or sleep til you're finished and once it is finished, all you can do is think or dream about the book and how things will play out in the next book. Except when I dream about said book I became the main character with the hot boyfriend. So, obviously I have a new book boyfriend named David lol.
Isis has been having trouble sleeping. She's been having a recurring dream starring a dark figure, who is always scaring her.
After a few months, Isis finally decides to stand up for herself and confronts this dark figure only to find out he's just another teen boy. Or so she believes.
When David shows up as the new student in school, Isis is in shock to see the boy from her dreams. Once David is able to prove to Isis, that he is real and she hasn't gone crazy, he explains that he is a deity(god). He's in charge of Somnium, the place where Isis kept visiting in her dreams. David fears for her safety, because humans should not be able to enter Somnium.
David makes it clear from the beginning that he has feelings for Isis. She fights him at first and denies she has any feelings for him at all, even if she does feel a bit jealous when other girls notice how extremely hot he is.
Then Gabriel shows up, he is Isis's ex boyfriend. He wants her back and he's acting all crazy and psychotic, which is totally out of character for him. Gabriel starts harassing and threatening everyone, David takes it upon himself to help protect Isis. This is when things start to heat up between her and David. However, since David is a deity, he is not allowed to harm a human. Therefore, making it harder for him to keep his temper in check when it comes to keeping Isis safe. So, when it came time to protect her against Gabriel, David did what he did best, he focused on Isis.
So, the big questions are; Why is Gabriel acting the way he is? How can Isis be able to enter Somnium? To find out you MUST read this amazing book.

What can I say? I just finished to read this book and... WOW!!!
This is one the most amazing books ever read in my life! It went straight to my "favorites" shelf!
Where to start??
I fell in love with this book after reading only the 1st chapter!
I had a smile stuck on my face for almost the entire time I was reading, and I even chuckled like silly many times! Isis and David were just too funny!
Like this scene (one of my favorites):
I tried opening the door to the car again, forgetting the darned thing would not open. “You need to get this door fixed,” I nagged.
“It’s not broken, my lovely,” David grinned.
“Then why won’t it open?”
“Child locks to keep the princess from opening the door herself.” He gave me a crooked smile.
“Oh,” I blushed.
I just couldn't stop chuckling for about 10 minutes! He reminded me of someone I know :)
Going back to the book:
Golden boy -or Dream boy- (David) is just fantastic! :D He is just to die for! Why? Tall, black hair, blue eyes, gorgeous gorgeous gorgeous, sweet sweet sweet and caring! He is a God! (Ha! :D)
I loved his sweetness, his ways... he always made me smile and his actions and the way he courted Isis made my heart melt! Wow! He is perfect! Needless to say, I fell in love with him!

“I’ll not tire until I’ve claimed your heart,” he whispered into my hair. “And that is both a promise and a threat.” I could feel his warm breath against my cheek as he spoke.

Let's talk about Isis:
I like her. Not always though.. like, sometimes she is so naive, for God's sake! She acted like a silly girl without sense of preservation when it came to Gabriel. She really couldn't see the danger she was putting herself and other people into! But that issue aside, I found her quite funny and sometimes she reminded of me. ;) Let's not talk about the hilarious scene of her showing up for breakfast in front of David with her t-shirt inside out and backwards! xD hahahaha! Couldn't stop laughing at her silliness! Poor girl! I think I've had poor figures quite alike hers or even worse in my life! Like, falling from the stairs at school in front of two girls never seen and having them laughing at me while I blushed like a tomato! No comment, please! -_-'
Claire was okay. And I envy their mother-daughter relationship too. Even though sometimes Claire got on my nerves for overeacting too much... too many times! For God's sake Isis's not going to get pregnant at seventeen!
Nyx was also okay, tough she kinda creeped me out a little at first...
The Gemini.... Eryx is okay I guess.. we didn't get to know him much better but he seemed a nice guy ;)

2 stars!!!
I am giving this book two stars, mainly, because I think the concept was really good and had the potential to be awesome but I just think the author is not experienced enough to carry it through. Thus, what could have been great turned into a giant mess of a novel.
The story revolves around a seventeen year old girl named Isis Martin who is suffering from nightmares. In her dreams, she meets this creature and as a result, ends up falling quite ill from her insomnia. With the help of her psychiatrist, she is put on sleeping pills. This helps her to confront the demon in her dreams which she soon realises is a Greek deity and that she has been traveling to another realm. This sets off a confrontation where Isis claims he is not real, thus, he uses this contest as a way to prove her wrong.
I found the MC Isis to be a real Mary Sue. Although, the author claims that she is really spunky and level headed, she isn't. She constantly makes the stupidest decisions and she has no real personality. Even her reason for not being in love with David is nonsensical and has no real bearing. As when push comes to shove, she just caves in to his advances towards the end of the book.
David, on the other hand, is your usually "perfect guy". But he has a major flaw. For someone who is supposedly model-like (we are given this description all the time in the book), he is decidedly grandfather-ish. I found his formal tone of dialogue to be very clunky and not at all convincing. Some might think it romantic but it wasn't. Couldn't he be a deity who spoke like an everyday guy from the 21st Century? Plus, that would have made him swoonworthy. I wanted to get all these feels but I got none. Major disappointment there really. On top of this, I also felt that his character was depicted as being overly possessive and almost aggressive. A gentleman would never behave that way at all. Plus, his constant jealousy was nauseating.
The minor characters were average, at best. Nothing to write home about. Many of the conversations sounded really formal and very old-fashioned. It was not in the context of the modern world or an urban setting. This made the writing very tedious and stilted. I also found that the plot twists were very cliched and were just used to create some drama but held no real significance to the story. The only thing I would say that was positive about the novel is the length and pacing. It was quite a quick read and doesn't drag at all. But overall, this book lacks real substance. At the end of the day, it is just a romance novel with some fantasy elements with no real action or major storyline.
Will I be reading the next book? I hardly think so. I don't think I could stomach another sappy badly written love poem or conversation.
I am giving this book two stars, mainly, because I think the concept was really good and had the potential to be awesome but I just think the author is not experienced enough to carry it through. Thus, what could have been great turned into a giant mess of a novel.
The story revolves around a seventeen year old girl named Isis Martin who is suffering from nightmares. In her dreams, she meets this creature and as a result, ends up falling quite ill from her insomnia. With the help of her psychiatrist, she is put on sleeping pills. This helps her to confront the demon in her dreams which she soon realises is a Greek deity and that she has been traveling to another realm. This sets off a confrontation where Isis claims he is not real, thus, he uses this contest as a way to prove her wrong.

I am sitting here now b/c I have finished Creatura.
I don't have just one single word that can truly grasp exactly how I feel about this book....
I am hoping that I can explain it to you....
A little over four years ago I joined goodreads and fell in to books again. I have loved it!
During this time, I have read some good books, no GREAT books...These are books that have embedded themselves in to the very fabric of your being. They are the ones that you recommend first and they are the ones that my standards for other books have to meet up with. So with that said, I sit here now letting you know that Creatura has done just that and now sits among the GREATS on my bookshelf!

As I started with the first page, I was engrossed as I turned page after page, reading word for word of the world that Nely Cab had given us. I was drawn in, mesmerized by Isis and David, as well as the Chios family, and when the final page of Creatura came upon me...I knew right then, that each word was stamped on soul, my heart, and in my head for eternity.
Creatura is written so eloquently, vividly depicting the lives and emotions of Isis and David, that I am physically aching because it has ended and I am now going to have to wait for the next installment.
If you are looking for a book that tells of a love that is full of passion, a love that reaches down to touch the deepest parts of your soul to show that you are truly alive, all while surrounded by the mythological and supernatural world, then get Creatura today!! You will not regret it...

Hea y'all Anne here and I have literally just closed the back cover on Creatura by Nely Cab. I wish I had more of this story in my hands right now. I can only sit here typing my review in pure wonderment of this book, it is absolutely astounding and a literary piece of art to be revered and loved by all hands that hold it. The story behind Creatura is Greek mythology and oh how I love a story of that caliper. Isis is a 17 year old girl who lives her life daily and excels in her goals, she was raised by her mother having lost her father at a young age she knows the pain of loss. She dreams of a perfect place as she sleeps, a field alive with poppies and warm with the sun and solitude. Somnium is where the Deities reside a place forbidden to all humans, but how is it that Isis finds her way there every night? A dark shadow plagues Isis in her dreams, she is frightened and yet not detoured from her dream land. When David comes along Isis is swept into a world of ancient stories and truths that now apply to her life. Isis has a normal life as far as she is concerned and struggles to keep it that way, but not for long. I love the way Nely Cab has created David, he is the perfect guy tall, dark, handsome with a little mystery thrown in and his instant interest with Isis keeps the story rolling along never allowing a dull moment to happen. David is modern yet his morals and values and old school and endearing and I absolutely love that. I loved reading the notes David gives to Isis, he holds her so close and produces heart felt emotion in times of loss and pain for her. He shows her things that she holds dearest to her heart. I laughed and cried very early on in this book it is so exquisitely written having important details exactly when they are most important to the characters and the rolls they will play in the story. Seeing the story through not only Isis's eyes but David's too is an excellent turn for the story and I loved having both views. The other characters in the books are no less enthralling each is strong and well built to bring more involvement and drama into the story. The twists and excitement are never wanting they are perfectly balanced to keep the readers digging further and deeper into the book. Nely has gone above and beyond to make sure even the tales David tells Isis are penetrating and indicative to how and why these things are going to happen. I fell in love with this story instantly and I am still reeling from the tale it has weaved in my mind. Romanticism is hard to grip in a book and make it feel honest and not be to over powering but the author has not only done this but she brought her A game to the table for this book. To beat all every time you feel like the story just couldn't get any better it does, it gets so much better and so much deeper. The end literally left my mouth hanging open and had me immediately wanting to know when I could get the next book, and how long will I have to wait. This is a story I will read time and time again because it is one I absolutely enjoyed from page one all the way to the very end. Intriguing, captivating, mind blowing, and absolutely enthralling is how I will always describe this book to anyone I will talk to. 5 out of 5 stars for Creatura I'd give it 10 if I had my own stars to give this is a truly one of a kind ride you'll love to take and never wanna return from once your started. Bravo Nely Cab your literary work of art is to be treasured.

I will be real honest when I say this book I was skeptical about. After reading the intriguing synopsis, I decided to give it a try. Not only did it blow me out of the water, but I was just so taken back by it. It had great detailing in places, characters as well as emotions.
What I loved most about this book are the characters. Ms. Cab brought her characters to life right before my eyes. I loved how real and flawed the characters were. They were easy to understand and easy to get into. I loved watching the characters growth. Ms. Cab took the reader guiding them in a whole new reading experience. All of her characters were fresh and unique, yet easy to relate to.
The emotions of this book left me gasping. I loved how real the emotions were. So greatly described I felt Isis strength fading, yearning for a peaceful night of sleep. As the reader stepped in Isis shoes, you feel desperate to learn more. I liked how no answer was given to the reader right away but instead ensnared you to read more.
The love interest had me swooning. Ms Cab did a great job in creating such a yummy hottie but also giving him a great strong personality. The strong connection of both characters had me smiling from ear to ear. The rules of her world were also nicely done and well describe. Nothing is confusing.
If you want a different twist on Greek mythology read this book. You will be hooked from the very first page. With an amazing plot line, great characters and a love to die for, Creatura will you falling for more!!

In a world that has forgotten true innocent romance and courting Nely Cab goes head to head against the tide and brings to us a beautiful sweet mythical love story in Creatura!! * * * * * It was an absolute joy to read this romance between a deity and a young girl. The writing style was refreshing compared to the many books out there that forgo style for just a plot.
I enjoyed getting to know the tow main charterers and enjoyed the poetic verses between them. Isis is a teenage girl dealing with her first love, and David, well David, is prince charming embodied in a Greek god. This is probably not the best way to start a review, but I can sum up my impression of “Creatura” in one word – WOW!! I kept envisioning what a blockbuster movie this book will make!
Since I received this book for review, I’ve been looking forward to reading it. I had such high expectations for it, and I can tell you now I wasn’t disappointed in the least bit. “Creatura” surpassed all my expectations, delighted and pleasantly surprised me. It is so delectably different and unique. No vampires, werewolves, demons, angels, faeries, or any of the usual suspects, but something entirely different which stretches the imagination beyond its limits.
An imaginative, engaging plotline; loveable, down-to-earth characters (and tons of hot guys); catchy dialogue and charming, witty banter between the characters are only a few of the elements which make this book such an unforgettable read. Unexpected twists and turns throughout the story keeps the reader captivated, but best of all? The author gets her point across without the use of profanity or having the characters boink the daylights out of each other.
The romance between the main characters, Isis and David, is what fairytales are made of, but instead of Isis throwing herself into David’s arms in the first few chapters of the book, the author cleverly prolongs and builds up the reader’s expectations for a love between these two characters that is worth the wait. It was refreshing to read a book with a strong female lead for a change; one who makes the object of her affection work for her love instead of just giving it to him from the get go (as is the tendency with most young adult books).

What caught my attention about this book was the bad reviews vs. the good ones. Yup, it's true, the bad reviews got me interested. I tend to read the bad ones first and then the good ones, before I read a book. But I don't read a book to hate on it. I find that when a book (I didn't want to use this one as an example, but it's one everyone is familiar with so take Twilight for instance) has real hater reviews, it's usually my type of book. Having said that, let's move on to the review:
I gave this book five stars because the world that the author creates is genuine. Loved the plot. Loved the thrills. I won't give details on it because giving spoilers is a big no no in my book (pun intended on the book part). I'm going to go against the haters and say I didn't find any Twilightish moments in this story (sorry haters). I did find some Shakespearean flair, which really added to the godly nature in David's personality (saaahhwwwoooonnn!!) Poetry in a book is trés nice. Yes, it has poetry. Isis is my type of girl when it comes to a strong heroine. The secondary characters are super fun. My personal love is Galen. I think he's a hottie. Ok, I'll take David too.
Would I recommend it? Of course! It's on my favorites list like forever!
A word of advice to the film makers that peruse this site for ideas, this one is a WINNER! I see a franchise coming out of this one, baby! I've called those on several books (hit movies I mean).
So what are you waiting for? Read it! I know you're dying to know what happens.

I heard about this book through r2r. What interested me at first was the book cover. Yes, I am a cover snob. Most people would only see a leafless tree. I saw a barren tree that begged me to question, what does it represent? The loneliness of the sole tree gave me quite the stir of emotions as to what waited beneath the cover. In its pages, would I find someone isolated from the world? Or would I find someone who need to be isolated from the world. The only way for me to seek out my answers was emerge myself into the book and that is exactly what I did. Generally, I read books recommendations so I know what to expect, only this time I had no idea what I was in for and was I pleasantly surprised.
First, I wanted to note that I love Greek mythology and Nely Cab took me on a journey of Greek mythology with an interesting twist, I for one, never expected.
When seventeen year-old Isis is having trouble sleeping due to loss of her first love and the added effects of her terrifying dreams of a growling beast, her mother seeks the aid of her best friend’s father; a local psychologist. With the aid of a prescribed sleeping aide and the advice to face the fear haunting her dreams, Isis decides to confront the horrific growling beast that has caused unrest. Only Isis discovers the beast is no beast at all. Isis has managed to stumble into plane of existence no human can explore. When the man-like creature explains this to Isis, she counters in disbelief and challenges the man- like beast to prove himself real. A challenge, the man-like beast accepts with an eager willingness. When the man of Isis dreams emerges in the corporal flesh at her high school, this is where I found myself hooked.
David’s entrance into Isis life could not have been more comical for me. I was sad however, that this caused Isis a momentary break down. Yet, she recovers quickly and soon finds herself thrust into a mind-bending earth quaking, forbidden romance.
I had the opportunity to read this aloud to my eleven-year-old daughter who swooned at the prospect of one day finding the man of her dreams to sweep her off her feet the way David courted Isis. The love letters David presents to Isis are so moving it will melt every woman’s heart and have her asking her man… Why can’t you be more like David? (I was lucky enough to have received an email from Nely Cab herself warning me that a scene towards the end may not be appropriate for my daughter and I am thankful for that. I made a few verbal adjustments and continued the story with success.)
My only complaint is that all good stories must end, as did Creatura. I hope that Nely Cob will find more to Isis and David story tucked away in her creative mind. I would more than strongly recommend this book to anyone who simply loves to read. The plot is interesting and unique; one I find all will love.

First, I'd like to say that prior to reading Creatura, I knew little to nothing about the book. The GoodReads description, as well as the back-cover of the novel itself, offered little insight into about what the novel was truly about. Upon reading, "perturbing dreams" and, "horrific growling beast," I assumed that the basic premise involved beasts in a dreams world that so-called Isis Martin somehow gets entangled with. I wasn't entirely sure how to feel about that concept; it felt like such a hit or miss.
I was completely and entirely mistaken.
I've just put the book down after having read it none stop, all day long. Looking back, there was not a moment that I didn't want to know what would happen next-- and that includes the moments in between major events. I'd been dragging my feet all week trying to get myself to sit down and read it, worried that I wouldn't be able fully immerse myself in the story. I can say with strong certainty, however, that I was hooked after the first chapter alone.
One of the wonderful assets of the novel, (among many, mind you), was the character development. Each and every one of the characters is distinct in their own way, including those that were... well, not human. I'd also like to note that I fell in love with David almost instantly --who wouldn't?-- despite my aversion to sappy-corny-old-timey-romantic gestures and language. I found that I was smiling despite myself many times, happy to hold witness to such passion.
Characters aside, the writing itself was marvelous to read. You never once have to worry about not being able to envision any character or event; they are all described so perfectly and eloquently that all that reader must do is gaze at the words. The rest is done masterfully by Ms. Cab.
I suppose this is less of a full review and more half review, half a thank you to GoodReads. Had I not stumbled upon Creatura and read the countless raving reviews, I may have never made the impulsive decision to buy the book. I recommend it to anyone and everyone that enjoys mythology, romance, young adult novels, gripping language or even just a nice read.
I've literally spent the last 10 hours reading this book, and I wouldn't dream of asking for that time back. Perhaps this review may do for you what others did for me-- that is, persuade you, wholeheartedly, to pick up Creatura. :)

Creatura is a book that is wonderfully written and I think anyone into this genre, or anyone who wants to dabble in it should read.
Nely Cab certainly has a way with words and I found myself really daydreaming while reading the story.
The description over Isis's torment in the beginning was so vivid and emotional I really felt for her and the whole thing with her nightmares was compelling.
Isis is a 17-year-old girl who is growing up with her mother, who is also quite young. Isis is level-headed, practical and responsible, but for the past three months she has been suffering from a severe case of insomnia, not because she cannot fall asleep, but because when she sleeps she always finds herself in an unfamiliar field in front of a scary creature who keeps growling at her. What's a girl to do? I would wake up in a sweat too.
Her mother insists she sees a therapist, which she does, her best friends' father and he advises her to stay in the dream long enough to take control and confront the monster.
Isis does exactly that, even scared as she was, and she is surprised to realize that it's not a monster, but a 17-year-old looking boy, David, who as he admits himself isn't exactly a boy or 17.
Isis thinks this could be the end of it and that she had just one final hallucination of shorts, till she sees David at school.
She questions her sanity at first, but as he continues to get close to her and flirt her in his own charming and gentlemanly way, she also questions the wall she has put around her heart after the bitter breakup with her old boyfriend who left her behind after going to college on a scholarship.
Things aren't easy, because she is a mortal who has somehow gained the ability to enter another "realm" the realm that gods dwell. As they try to solve the mystery, David introduces her to his family and I have to admit it was pretty wonderful. They were all striking and likable characters, even their father who at first wanted to kill Isis.
The whole journey in the book and the revelation in the end was really great and I was fascinated by the prospect of meeting Isis' real father and seeing what's there.
Alas I have to wait for the next book...but I can do that... I think!! lol :P

Creatura by Nely Cab is a phenomenal debut novel that will have you hooked from the first page! For as long as Isis Martin can remember, she has been able to control where her dreams take her. One particular place that she loves to go to get away from the world becomes inhabited with a beast-like creature that wants to drive her away. Soon her fear takes over and Isis does everything she can to not fall asleep for fear of being harmed. Her doctor soon prescribes her with a sleeping aid and encourages her to let the dream play out. Confident that she will not back down, Isis is shocked to discover the beast isn't as it appears.
David was unsure of how Isis was able to travel to his world. It is impossible for a human to gain access and yet Isis comes to his world often. Worried for her safety he tries to drive her away knowing the trouble that she could cause if she is discovered. His plea for her to never return go unheard as Isis is confident that he is just a figment of her dreams and challenges him to prove himself. Not one to back down from a challenge, he shows up in the flesh at her high school so that she will finally know that he is real. David is a gentleman to his core and takes the award for most swoon-worthy.
If you haven't read Creatura, do yourself a favor and move it to the top of your to-read pile. You'll be glad you did. I can't wait for the second book to come out so I can continue on my journey with Isis and David and see what the future holds for them.

Wow! There are no other words to describe this book. It was just amazing. From the very beginning this book grabs a hold of you and won't let go,even after you have turned the final page. Everything - from the characters, the writing, the mythology, to the romance - was everything I could have wanted in a book. I loved everything about it. Especially a certain Mr Chios.
Ah David. *sighs* If a man wrote me poetry as beautifully as he does I would let him invade my dreams any night. This man was just everything you could ask for. Handsome, kind, loyal, sincere, funny...I could go on but you get the picture. I have to admit there were one or two times when I wanted to smack the gentleman right out of him, but I'll forgive him. Although some of the things he does would be seen as corny by a lot of people, the romantic in me just couldn't get enough. I want a David all for own.
The story line was very interesting. I was intrigued as to find out what Isis was and how things were going to work out for her and David. I really liked Isis as a character. I thought she was very loyal and compassionate and always seemed to be thinking of others. The story really started to get going when Gabriel came on the scene. That boy was just plain creepy. Even though I now know why he did the things he did, he still creeps me out.
Overall I would recommend this book to any die hard romantics (like myself). After that ending I cannot wait to see what the next installment has in store for Isis and David

OMG NELY CAB HAS TAKEN GREEK MYTHOLOGY TO A WHOLE NEW LEVEL! I am sooooo in love with this series! Review will be up soon
I read Creatura in March. I could NOT WAIT for the paperback to come out so I bought the Ebook for my Kindle. I think I read the entire book in one sitting. I could not put it down. I was hooked from the beginning and was frantic at the end to find a few more pages to read. I am hooked on this series and I am counting down the days until I get book 2 (WHICH Nely is currently working on YAY)!!!
I get a Greek Mythology vibe from this book. I love Greek Mythology. It is DEFINITELY a refreshing, new twist on Mythology.
This is simply one of those books that is hard to review simply for the fact that you want to start at the beginning and tell you everything until the end. Well, we know I cannot do that because SPOILER FREE.
My advice to you? READ. THIS. BOOK. You will fall in love with Isis and the world she encounters through her dreams. The characters are amazing and the story line makes you desperate to get to that next page.

Isis Martin is a 17 year old girl living in Texas, has brown hair, green eyes and a complete and utter insomniac.
Isis' dreams are haunted by a human-like shadowy creature in the depths of her place of tranquil, (a poppy field) which leaves her so terrified that she is unable to get back to sleep again.
Creatura is a wonderfully imaginative fast-paced story about dreams becoming reality, lost lineage, forbidden romance, and Greek mythology.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book, and would recommend it! Isis' character is one of which is so believable, and so relatable I couldn't help but like her! But that said, my favourite characters are Bill & Andy (Andrea) for their no-nonsense attitude in regards of Isis' sleep problem. They remind me of my own friends! Lol ;)
The ending left me agog, and begging for more! Cannot wait for the sequel! :)

I was contemplating whether this story deserved a 4 star or a five star .. But man oh man , once i was done reading it i knew it deserved nothing less than a 5 star !!! So many questions , so many thrilling moments , this story definitely took me by surprise !!
Cover-speak : Awwwwwwesome cover !! At first i was like , ' How is the name " Creatura " connected to what's being shown on the cover of the book . I was completely clueless . But once i was through the story , i think i have sort of realised the meaning behind this cover ! Ofcourse i cant give it away now because i think its highly connected to the story and giving it away would just ruin it for everyone plannin on reading it ;)
Creatura basically tells the story of 17 yr old Isis Martin , who has turned into an insomniac due to her recurring nightmares . Every night Isis dreams of the same Poppy field and the same 'beast' who waits for her in that poppy field . Every night Isis wakes up from her nightmares scared and petrified to fall asleep again . Who is this creature ? What does he want ? Why is a part of Isis's dreams ? Is he an enemy or a friend ? Answer to those questions and many more is what awaits readers in this mythological extravaganza !!
Things i loved about this book :
1) Fresh and exciting : Okay i'm gonna be honest here , i have not read anything like what is mentioned in this story before ! To explain it in better terms , i can say that the 'paranormal' Or the 'supernatural' element of this story is 'out worldly;' . I loved every aspect of it . Every angle , every twist just added to the prevailing tension .
Honestly , there was a time when i was beginning to lose interest in the story and felt that it had become too slow and drag-ish . But a new twist added in by the author at the right time and right place zapped me back in place and i was devouring the pages like my life hung on it ! Definitely new definitely exciting !! The mythological connection of the story was also very new and something unheard of . I would so wanna meet some of the characters mentioned in this book for real !
2) Relationship matter's : Another lovely aspect of this book was the various characters and the relationship they shared with each other . One of my favourite was the relationship shared between Isis and her mother Claire . Never ever have i read a book that emphazised so much on a mother - daughter relationship . They were like two best friends because they were everything to each other . I laughed at their goofiness and had tears in my eyes when things got intense . Brownie pionts to the author for such an amazing display of affection between the two .
And another favourite relationship being Isis and David's . Oh boy talk about crazy and sweet at the same time . I couldnt help but wear a grin on my face all the time reading the various interactions between them . Isis the stubborn kind , who would never let David know her real feelings for him and David , the uberly greek god-like handsome but possessive guy who would do anything to make sure he wins Isis's heart !!! Loved them ;) . Ofcourse the book has many other interesting characters as well .
3) Twists, turns and the end !!!! : If i'm giving 5 on 5 to the story , then i'm giving 10 on 10 to the author , her imagination and her creativity ! I mean come on she clearly deserves it for a story like this especially the end ! It was sooooo unexpected and unthought of . For a split second i was like ' wait , what did just happen !! ' .. I sooo cannot wait to read what happens next in this series . The end just made way for an exciting beginning . Totally recommended for readers looking for a story of a different kind . Its a must check out from me !

First off can I just say... How can you leave us hanging like this???? What am I supposed to do now? No other book will do until I have #2 in my hands :(
I can't remember how I came to know about Creatura. I think it may have been through my page on Facebook. Nely had told me that the first chapter was downloadable on her website so I quickly read it as soon as she sent me the link. I read the first few pages and that was it. I was gripped. I couldn't wait to read "Creatura". Everytime I logged onto Facebook or Twitter, someone had posted reviews or someone was saying how "amazing" it is. Well it isn't amazing. It is unforgettable and unmissable to say the least. I pretty much blanked my daughter for a few hours so I could digest more of it. Horrible I know :( But it had to be done. I was enticed by everything. It was beautifully written. The characters are amazing. David's wit and charm had me giggling everytime he had something to say. I cried when David's father was on the scene. I couldn't believe him! But then he won me over because he too was as charming as his son. Gabriel freaked me out throughout the whole thing. When Andy and Bill had told Isis of him and his "imaginary" friends, I knew there was more too it than drugs. I actually felt like I was in Isis' shoes and I started to tear up because I knew something was going down with him. Whenever I imagined Gabriel in my head, he was the only one that appeared clear to me. I pictured him as Mike Newton from Twilight but not from that movie, but from All The Boys Love Mandy Lane when he is scrawny and unrecognisable. I wanted to kill him as soon as his presence was made. I could kind of relate to Claire in a way. Having my daughter at such a young age I'm pretty sure (and hopeful) that I'll be as cool as her when my daughter is a teenager. I liked how both parents played a main part in the book.
I read non-stop from 1pm until about 5.30pm. I only stopped because my hands were shaking due to no food consumption. I could not move from my seat because every page I flipped, it made me want to read more and more. I had to charge my Ereader 3 times today (Not kidding) It has been on pretty much all day. I finally finished at 11.30pm. I was hoping it wouldn't end where it did... Absolutely gutted :(
Ahhh the love between Isis and David killed me. I was flipping each page hoping she would finally reciprocate his love and when she did it was Perfect! I filled up and smiled and laughed all the same time.
I just cannot explain in detail how much I Adore this book because it is genuinely too good to put into words. I knew there was a reason I was so desperate to read it. :)
I would recommend "Creatura" to EVERYONE! Old, young... Whatever it has everything. Romance, action, horror, mystery... Everything literally.
I give it a well deserving 5* and I thank Mrs Cab for writing such a beautiful masterpiece and leaving me itching for more. I seriously impatiently await #2 :)

Creatura is defiantly a book like no other. One of the things I enjoyed about this story. Nely has wonderfully written this story, drawing us not only into an engrossing storyline, but has put forth characters for the reader to enjoy and feel with. Nely has given us great descriptions both visually and heart warming. Moments where you will be gasping - sighing - starry eyed and even terrified.. and for those whom love the mushy love dovely stuff David is every girls dream.. David chaios - is a dreamy gentleman filled with enough love for Isis it makes me kinda jealous !! His love for her is also shown through his love notes to her and I found this very romantic !!! ** Ok I'm a romantic at heart ** sigh
Nely has created a storyline definably unique and one of a kind. A storyline that will have entranced within the first few chapters and have you eagerly awaiting to find out What Creatura is all about. You will meet David ** swoon ** - he will appeal to all lady loves who enjoy a romance filled with undying love and devotion and wonderful written and romantic love notes !!
A storyline that will intrigue you , characters That will draw you into there world, and descriptions that will pull you into the pages !! Its filled with action, adventure, love, romance, betrayal, lies and many more aspects its really like having a hamburger with the lot filled to the brim with lots of goodies.
I'm not going to go into the storyline much, but I will tell you .... After reading right till the very end.. You will be flipping the pages to find out where the rest is.. Yes she has left us a cliff hanger that will have you eagerly anticipating book 2 !!
If you enjoy romance that will make your heart a flutter - characters whom will make you smile, and leave you starry eyed and an intriguing adventure within then Creatura is for you !

Impressive!! I am awestruck with this book. Ms. Cab has blown me away with her story. Isis is having nightmares and has to see a counselor to try and help her get sleep. The man in her dreams is David. David has come into her life and now her nightmares have stopped. He can still visit her in dreams and she isn’t scared anymore. He is infatuated with her. Because of who he is, he isn’t suppose to be able to fall in love with her but he can’t control himself. Most of his family has come to earth to be there for him if he decides to take things further with Isis. Isis doesn’t want to take any chances that harm will come to David as it isn’t allowed for him. But can she control the growing feelings she has for David? Her old boyfriend, Gabriel has returned after breaking her heart thru a text message. He’s determined that he is going to have her back, but she isn’t. Something is wrong with Gabriel and Isis doesn’t know what it is but knows he isn’t the same person she saw last time. Is Gabriel going to ruin things for David? Can Isis get over her fear and allow a relationship to form with David? He’s everything a young woman can dream of but she doesn’t want him harmed. Isis isn’t who she thought she was. David’s family knows there is something about her but they don’t have all the answers. Is she as well a danger to herself and those around her? I didn’t want this book to end. It won’t be soon enough for the next in this series to come out.

I still feel the same way about this book then as I do now. I love the romance, suspense, action, and the mythological creatures in the story. I the characters felt so real in my mind as I read this story for a second time. I loved every minute of the story from beginning to end of this remarkable book. It's addicting, enticing, and an all around fun read. I am in love with the main characters, Isis and David, in this story and how I felt like I was actually in the story watching from the sidelines everything that happened. This is a RECOMMENDED MUST READ that will capture your heart and soul and reel you in and keep you wanting more. I absolutely love the creative detail and the amazing world that this author has made for us to love and cherish forever. I so in love with the new cover as well, which will be revealed on July 18, 2013. Thank you again, Nely Cab, for writing this phenomenal story and one of my all time favorites and I still can't wait to read more about Isis and David's journey. I do believe that "Sometimes Love is Lethal" .

First I have to say that Creatura is one of the best books that I have read for a while now. I know I say that a lot but this time I am soooooo serious! Creatura takes you into a world that you wouldn’t and couldn’t dream up by yourself! Nely is so amazing!!!! I feel speechless right now and not really sure what to say haha. I am trying to sum up the events in this book but everything that I am typing is a spoiler! I haven’t had this much difficulty in awhile trying to write a review. Isis is a amazing beautiful caring female lead. And David……Don’t even get me started on him!!!! Nely has officially made the lives of every man in my future ten thousand times harder!!! My standards for men have soared through the roof and only Dues knows if there is someone out there can live up to those standards!!! So now that I am done rambling I can tell you that you need to get this book as soon as possible.
It will take you for one hell of a ride that you will not soon forget!!!!

March 24, 2013 i heard a lot about this book on goodreads an from being a fan of Nely Cab on fb.
i wanted to read it so bad, went to all my good bookshops and here in NZ its a mission to
find some of these books i want, managed to get it online and it finally turned up..i was so
excited to have this in my hand after so long plus i wasn't able to put it down im so glad it was a rainy day today.
i love the cover its so cool an so different to most Book Covers out there, so i started reading it
and i was hooked into it right away, Which is always a good sign to a good book.
I wasn't able to put the book down at all i was so Hooked into the Story of Isis and David, all the twists that the story took,
I love Isis's Mum and her Friends plus David's Family they are so true you can connect with all of them.
..i cant explain how much i actually love this book.
