A small town southern girl meets the big, bad wolf. A nightmare or a fairy tale?
In one night, Sasha Edwards’ life forever changes when a rogue Lupus viciously attacks her and infects her with the Lupus virus. The Pack doctor and Beta wolf, Flynn LeGuer, is the only man who can save her. But his professional and personal boundaries are tested when he discovers Sasha is the woman he’s been waiting for his entire life—his True Mate.
Sasha must dig deep to find the courage she never knew she possessed when Flynn tells her the truth of her new life: she's not only a wolf but his mate as well. Can they trust each other enough to reclaim a long-denied passion? And can they stop the ancient evil pursuing them before it destroys their life together yet again?
Hmm, about me... Well, not too much to tell. I was a reader before I ever became a writer. I live in a small town in North Carolina with my extremely spoiled German shepard. My son is grown, out on his own, and starting a family of his own. Still don't feel like a grandma. I write erotica, paranormal, futuristic, comtemporary, and m/m. I'm slowly but surely building up my library with new stories and interesting characters. Who knows what I'll come up with next. But to get what's already out, you can purchase them here - www.allromanceebooks.comwww.amazon.com & B&N. I'm on FB and Twitter. Stop by and drop me a line. I love hearing from fans and readers.
4.5 stars. I must say I was impress with the dialogue as well as the characters in the book. Even though they provide a very descriptive role of what is Lupus aka Wolf and the history of how they were in the society. Loved the twins, so sweet and sexy as hell. Actually I think all the Lupus starring from Roan, Flynn, Gabriel, etc. Were very delicious. The only downfall I must confess what the so many questions that was asked by the Female leading character (Sasha) in addition to the history. But I did really enjoyed this book. Kudos to Ms. Hunter, very well done.
Sasha Edwards is an ordinary 35 year old out for a night with some friends. I liked Sasha from the get go, she's self-deprecating, sincere, and a straight shooter. When she's out she meets a handsome man, Gabe, who she hit with her "no nookie speech" which, I might add, I loved -
"And before the game even gets started, I need to tell you that talking is all you're going to get. I'm not into one-night stands, and I've never been picked up in a bar. I'm not the casual sex sort, nor am I an easy mark. You're hot, one of the hottest men I've ever met, but that doesn't mean I'll be leaving here with you tonight."
Irrespective of the speech Gabe stays around, they talk, he escorts her out to her car, when she's attacked by a large 'dog.' Gabe rescues her, she blacks out and ends up in a coma. Sasha's life changes from this point. She discovers that it wasn't a dog that attacked her, rather an ancient lupus and she is now well and truly in the world of shape-shifting wolves.
Sasha has to undergo a potentially deadly First Transformation, be a True Mate to Flynn, the pack Alpha's twin brother, deal with a Challenge by a jealous former lover of Flynn's - a fight instigated by the pack's female Alpha - and help with an ancient prophecy. Plus, she has to learn to kick some arse as her wolf nature develops.
I don't want to give much away, because it's a good read, and the prophecy and current ordeals are all interwoven well, and are interesting; I feel it's best left to the individual to read for themselves.
I really liked Sasha, she was a no-nonsense, straight shooter, with a good sense of humour - After Roan, the pack Alpha, explains about the Challenge, Sasha thinks to herself -
'Oh, is that all. I just kick her butt and take her place? No problem. That is if she survived the First Transformation. Then she wouldn't have to worry about fighting the Alpha bitch. She'd be dead and Flynn along with her. Jeez, some days it didn't pay to come out of a coma.'
And when digesting the idea of the pain attached to First Transformation Sasha asked -
"I guess drugs are out of the question?"
As it sounded somewhat like labour, I'd ask the same thing :)
This is actually my third book by Ms Hunter and she seems to have fun with her stories and her characters. I can always kick back and enjoy without stress. No matter what the story, there is always a strong theme of family-is-what-you-make-it, and who you choose to make it with. Family isn't necessarily about biology in her books. Plus, this book had a whimsical quality to it - hard working, struggle-street woman finds a larger than life, caring, sexy man who, quite frankly, was rather perfect. I'm not generally about perfect characters, I'm a trouble-looking, angst loving person. However, because of the almost fairytale quality to Destiny's Path, it doesn't bother me, it fits into the overriding theme.
Just a few niggles for me. Even though we get Flynn's POV too, I just didn't feel like I really knew him. Sure he was nice, caring, all I've previously stated, but I would have liked just a bit more on his development. I felt like I knew Roan more than Flynn. Sometimes it was a little more 'tell than show,' but all in all nothing major.
If you like a nice shifter book, some interesting characters, including a no-nonsense heroine who deserves a HEA, then I would recommend Destiny's Path.
What doesn’t kill you will make you stronger, a motto that Sasha will soon learn to appreciate.
Sasha Edwards’ life is about to change. Attacked after a night out with friends, she is thrust into the secret world of werewolves. She was an average woman with an average life. To the pack surrounding her she is anything but average. She has astonishingly survived the attack, the first woman ever. She never expected much out of life and handles the shock of her new existence rather well. Unknown to her or the pack, she is the catalyst to a prophecy. The outcome will either kill her or save the packs from extinction.
A True Mate is a rare gift, one Flynn never expected to experience. A True Mate is the perfect person, made just for you. Lives, souls and hearts are bound into a perfect assembly of love, never to be broken. Now that Flynn has found his True Mate he will never let her go. The only problem is she has no idea about werewolves and he is unsure if she will accept him.
Destiny’s Path takes place in a short amount of time. From the moment Sasha wakes from her attack her life changes fast and furiously. Unknown to her she is now an Alpha and in the middle of an ancient prophecy that has repeated itself over and over during the centuries. Now all the pieces are in place and another showdown between good and evil is set to begin.
The real story to me is Sasha’s new life. She now feels whole, like she finally belongs. She is welcomed into her new family with open arms, something she never experienced with her birth family. She has a new life and love, and she will protect what is hers to her dying breath.
Destiny’s Path is a good story with moments of heart pounding suspense. The plot was nicely built up to allow for the appreciation of Sasha’s development. I did enjoy the new take on the prophecy. It was a surprising little twist that seemed perfect. I was able to follow the story quite easily and found it very satisfying. I did have a sense that there are more stories to come. At least I hope so.
As Ms. Hunter built her world, I was drawn in. I felt like I was home; all comfy and warm. Her writing was soothing and not rushed. The story was well paced and an easy read. This is not a shockingly pulsating story. Though there is action, I was more drawn to the characters and the welcoming arms of the pack. This is a nice change of pace for cold winter months. Curl up and enjoy this heartwarming tale.
When we first meet Sasha, I’m loving her, she’s a normal girl over the age of twenty-five with some wrinkles and love handles but she’s embracing it and as a reader you’re feeling that empowerment. Then Sasha is changed into a wolf and because of that her metabolism kicks up. She loses the wrinkles and love handles. While it didn’t completely diminish her appeal because she is still a strong and relatable female, it was still a nick that I couldn’t quite get over. It actually dimmed some of my appeal for the book. Then you have Flynn who is your normal Beta leading wolf/man. I love the strong, supporting, and adoring male role. Yes I really did love Flynn. Though I truly believe that it had more to do with the author doing a kick ass job of really bringing that character connection through. I just felt that there could have been more depth, a twist or an Achilles heel to really make him stand out against all those other leading men you see in other books. The third thing is that there is a part in the book that latterly screamed Twilight to me. Were we find that a child that is to be born will be True Mate to Gab this two hundred and something yearr old wolf and the dad couldn’t think of a better person/wolf he’d want for his daughter. That just icked me out a bit because as a mother I’d not be okay with that. I’d be sending that grown wolf off and away so that my daughter could grow up without pressure or you know going through maturity before she was maybe ready.
So though I can totally see why this book got mixed ratings, I still have to say Destiny's Path is one of the best shifter books I’ve read in a long time. I’m also crossing my fingers that maybe the author will see this and take into account what I’m saying when writing her next book.
As a reviewer, I write my reviews for the readers out there wanting to know if they should waste time and money on a book but sometimes I see such potential that I can’t help but write a review for an author also. When I pick a book, I always look at the ratings, I like a challenge of mixed ratings because it’s up to me to explain why. When I first started reading Destiny's Path, I was absolutely dumb founded that it was getting mixed ratings because I hardly ever see detailed writing like this outside of mainstream authors. Trust me when I say that I’ve read every shifter plot out there since I started reading them at the age of twelve, so while shifter plots are hard to make original the author kicked ass on twisting and tweaking and in the end owned it. Not only that, but the passion and the emotion of the story really comes through.
So why does this book get mixed ratings and why is it only a four? The problem is the characters. Don’t get me wrong their good and the author made a solid connection with them but she also took some calculated risk where she totally forgot age of the readers she is pitching to.
I got this free but even if I'd had to pay the normal price I would have been content.
Really great read and decent set up for the next installment. I can't wait to see Roan find his True Mate.
I felt we missed out on getting know Flynn as well as we could have though. I even felt I knew Rob and Angel better and we were only introduced to them at the end. All the other characters were more fleshed out and whole when compared to Flynn which was a bit of a let down. The little nuances of prophecy, and powers added a little extra oomph to a story that has been done a lot. Somehow this was different enough to make it very enjoyable.
This is the first book by this author that I have read. Flynn is a werewolf and Sasha comes into his life after she is attacked. At first I thought that the plot would be a little too predictable. It was different enough to keep me interested.
I read book 2 first , wowowo, Just had to get book 1. I was not let down. This book was a pager turner and could not put it down! I loved the twist and turns, history of the pack.
What a series this is and will be (Hint Hint) lololololol !!!
This was a good read but it never quite made it to great for me. I felt at times it was predictable and others it was just too slow. The characters are fun but I wanted more from them. Still worth the read if you are thinking about trying it out.
I didn't mind this book in general, but the whole twin love thing kinda made me feel weird honestly. Also it seemed so cliche, and I just never got the sense that the characters were anything more than 2D.
