To escape an arranged marriage, Emma must get married...

Emma's father, Senator Schooner Tremaine, has struck a deal with the devil. He's agreed to marry Emma off to the son of an oil and natural-gas magnate, the rakish Gray Taylor, as a business transaction.

There's no way Emma will marry the rude, cold, domineering Gray, and, with some unexpected assistance, Emma runs away in the middle of the night, ending up in Duck, North Carolina.

She's safe for the moment, but she knows she has to come up with a contingency plan, something to make certain that if Schooner comes after her, he can't force her to marry a man she doesn't love.

In walks Reese McConnell, and Emma has an answer to her dilemma. All she has to do is convince Reese to marry her...

A good book if you don't want anything heavy and intricate. It’s very lightweight, predictable, rather one-dimensional…typical chick lit. Having read a book I absolutely did not enjoy and wanted to get out of my head, this was just the tonic.
It was totally unbelievable: a tyrannical, unethical, violent, controlling dad insists on an arranged marriage for his daughter, Emma, to seal a somewhat dodgy lucrative deal. I had a bit of trouble with that: unless you’re from a culture that insists on arranged marriages, it just doesn’t fit in the twenty-first-century western world. The unfortunate daughter manages to run away with the help of her submissive mother and plots to find someone to marry, thereby throwing her father’s plans completely off track. But the unwitting prey turns out to be rather handsome and just…well…perfect. How on earth can she go through with her plan and upset a good man with an equally good family?

The plot had a few holes in it, the long-suffering mother was rather inconsistent (one minute she’s doing her utmost to help her daughter escape, the next she’s insisting that, well, how bad can it be marrying someone you don’t want to?). The father is ghastly beyond belief, and Emma herself is rather bland and, dare I say, a bit stupid.

But, actually, I found myself looking forward to picking up my Kindle and to the mushy, marshmallowy, happy (not a spoiler, this is chick lit, after all!) ending.

A perfect holiday read for a lazy, hazy, sunny afternoon on the beach.

I did enjoy this book. Not as much as her others, but it was a very good story not unlike something I had read before though.
The characters in there grew on me, the female being quite feisty which made the book happen for me.

The plots were good, but like I said, nothing different from a few other books I've read before.
I had a couple of issues which distracted me too I am sorry to say. The name of the author and page was aligned popping up in sentences which was highly annoying. That said I have still given it 4/5 because the overall story was good.

This book was given me by the author for an honest review. All reviews are taken up as that persons thoughts and opinions with no pressure from the author.

How far business and political clout can stretch? Can it override happiness and wishes of kids? Will kids accept decisions taken by their parents without any prior consultations? Is a legal contract signed by parents binding on the kids?

DECISIONS by Jessica L Degarmo is a story of a girl Emma who finds it difficult to marry Gary. Gary’s father Robert wants to earn and get permission to explore gas in Pennsylvania State though he belongs to Texas. He fears local backlash and opposition. Hence, Robert signs a contract with Senator Schooner, father of Emma. Business and marriage are two different things but when they merge without consent, it brings wanton worries. This is compromise of life.

Gary leaves his love Diene but Emma fails to reconcile with the one sided decision of her father. The engagement completes under duress. Consent is gagged. She is not agreed to the union and her mother helps her to flee to North Carolina. So Emma becomes Alexie.

She does not know what is stored in the embryo of future and was uncertain about that but Carolina presents her with a bouquet of hopes, optimisms, and an urge to live. She discovers a dashing young boy Reese. Oh, she gets a way. She decides to use Reese to scuttle the forced marriage and a new cycle begins. She wants to use but loses her heart. Oh, love always happens as time passes. She weaves dreams and collects a bouquet. They plan marriage, go shopping and Emma oh Alexie becomes a part of the family. But…but this is not as happy as it seems to be. Gary emerges in the scene like a black patch of cloud to block the sunshine falling on the life of Emma and Reese. Gary forcibly takes away Emma from Reese on the marriage day. There ended a delicious dream of a delectable future.

In Pennsylvania awaits her father to force the marriage again. And also await hatred, anger and kicks. She marries Gary for the sake of business and political clout. Victimization indeed …..

Isn’t this interesting? The writing flows naturally. The novel has all ingredients of a fabulous middle grade (cross over) ChikLit Romance. This is easy reading about love, betrayal, passion and flying mind of a girl of 22 years. There are oodles of bubbles and –

You’ll love Decisions and of course the writing of Jessica L Digarmo. As far as churning of words and making wreaths out of them is concerned, she is just brilliant. She has proved in her earlier books, How to Meet a Guy in the Super Market and Hooking Up.

What a stunning cover! Have a look. Oh come, I mean the book. Lol.

Hovering between 1.5 stars and 2.0 my lowest ever rating on a book. So why the heck did I finish the book!

This for me was old style romance, fluffy and far fetched. Blah!

I just couldn't get on with this book. It was too over the top and fluffy and all things good, even the bad guys come across as not so bad. What got me most though was the unbelievable time lines they just didn't ring true and that irked me a lot. A potentially great storyline but delivered totally weak and not structured well at all.

So if you like old fashioned style romances then you'll probably love this, if like me however your taste is more contemporary romance then I don't think this book will deliver a satisfying read to it's reader.

This is the second book I have read by Jessica L. Degarmo. Both are outstanding in their ability to keep the reader hooked, and turning each page in anticipation.

It is not always a comfortable read, and the relationship between the main character and her father can be quite upsetting. But her fight against his oppression and her search for happiness far outweighs this, as does her relationship with the two men who change her life.

The writing is tight, and the way the story is told just makes you want to read on at the end of each chapter.

I cannot recommend this author highly enough.
