Baroque is risking life and limbs (hers and other people’s) against the vampire Ruby, while Isuzu is the captive of Tsukiyomi. In the aftermath, Isuzu gets nursed back to health and then he’ll really be getting schooled.

Well, if I was worried that this story was going south after the first volume… it totally did, but I can hardly call it a bad thing because of how it happened. From the stylish visuals and cool horror vibe of the first volume comes the absolute insanity of this volume, whereupon the story loses any hope of being taken seriously.

One of my abiding loves of manga as a genre is that sometimes it’s very hard to know how serious the mangaka is taking their own writing and this story becomes so hilarious that I pray it is meant as the joke it appears to be.

If Isuzu driving a car with his feet last time while he was about get a severe case of road rash was a bit much for you, just don’t even bother. By the time he’s flying through the air to escape the clutches of Tsukiyomi and her loli ways, bouncing off falling pavement to change the angle of his fall, the driving thing is like amateur hour.

The way that Baroque, in fact, gets one over on Ruby is just so insane that it has to rank amongst the most crazy visuals and nonsensical ideas that I’ve ever seen. I saw it and I’m still not sure I believe it, but I know I laughed real hard. And even better? It makes some modicum of sense within the established rules of this world. Their is some clever madness at work here.

After all that fighting it’s time to recuperate and that means turning into a domestic comedy for a bit, with Baroque getting suckered into a nurse’s outfit because of course she does, and her lousy cooking having an actual legit reason - she doesn’t eat food. Again, allowable trope usage.

This is a big old blush of a section and while this isn’t the hottest vampire action ever seen, the two of them do smoulder a little as they dance around their feelings until their hormones go into overdrive. They definitely have some kind of odd chemistry and the two of them make a fun pair because of how dangerous, yet hapless, they are.

And then we get the set-up for the next arc, where somebody else calling themselves Baroque has amassed a cult-like presence at the local high school, so guess who’s going undercover? Everybody! The promise of this section alone has me coming back for next volume.

Not before Isuzu is forced to change because the special forces think his original outfit and general charm will have so many girls swarming over him that they’ll never be able to complete the mission AND it’ll drive Baroque nuts with jealousy.

Which is all before we discuss things like sentient rubies and where they even got the nurse’s uniform to begin with. Also it remembers to be horrific at one point and there’s a great nod to classic vampire lore that looks great on the page. It’s a real wild pivot, but sometimes I like a little crazy and this one is very crazy indeed, but also holds together enough on its own merits.

3 stars - this is not good in a more traditional sense, but it’s a hell of a good time. It is definitely the closest I have come to anything even at all like the perfect and glorious nonsense of Can’t Stop Cursing You and, with that series’ sadly short run now over, that alone will keep me here for a while.

Vampires are real they loom in the darkness and hunt the humans. Isuzu is a trained vampire hunter but even he and his friends aren't enough to stop the rising vampire attacked. When he get's a tip about the vampire Baroque who slays vampire he decides to break her out to kill a strong vampire.

I like Isuzu he's willing to risk his own life to save his friends and trusting Baroque the beautiful vampire he rescued from lock down. I like the idea for Baroque she's this bad-ass vampire who uses curses to kill vampires. This is an interesting concept it reminds me a little of Blood+ which is one of my favorite animes.

This is my first manga by the author but I'm hooked, the story is captivating. The characters are easy to connect with you just can't help liking them. The artwork is beautifully done. I can't wait for the next installment to see what happens next to our duo. Perfect for fans of vampire fantasy with potential for a little romance. I actually enjoyed it so much that I had to pick up the paperback manga for my collection.

Uh, Band 2 wird nochmal spannender und interessanter als der erste. Gibt einige Actionszenen, dazu auch ein paar sehr ulkige Momente, in denen ich schon mal etwas mehr lachen und schmunzeln musste 😂 das Artwork ist wieder sehr schön anzusehen und die beiden Protagonisten bekommen mehr Tiefgang - auch die Anziehung zueinander nimmt deutlich zu.. 😌 fand es auch gut, dass Baroque nicht immer so jung aussieht, sondern öfters auch erwachsener - aufgrund der Körpergröße und des Körperbaus ist's aber allgemein etwas schwierig diesbezüglich 😬 bleibt mitunter einer der weniger Kritikpunkte, die ich an die Reihe hab. Dennoch macht's Spaß zu lesen und denke, der Titel wandert auf meine Wunschliste - ggf aber digital dann 👀

Once again with this series, I have so many questions. I absolutely love the dynamic between the two main characters. why someone is pretending to be the legendary Baroque at a high school of all places. Why are the high school you’re so dumb to believe that the legend would protect them specifically at the school? Who is trying to draw them out? Who put up the hex barrier as a warning to other vampires?

I really wish we had learned more about the two main characters, since I’m so interested in the mystery behind both of them, but this was still very enjoyable! Some very cute and awkward pining for each other moments. And I’m excited to see what’s up with this imposter Baroque!!

This volume was MUCH better than volume 1.
The beginning was still a bit weird, but it got better as the story progressed.
This gave me hope for volume 3, I hope they continue with an interesting storyline.
