Dora works fina as a T.V. show but this does not work as a book. Kids have a harder time actually reading the words when the are shown as pictures and the questions do not have the same effect as a cartoon would.

This is a Level 1Reader. That means that you can recognize a few words. High five!! It also means that you have a small bank of words you already know what they are by the letters you see. Did you know you had a bank vault in your head. It just gets bigger and bigger the more words you can find that you know. Another High Five for you.
There is one thing you can not forget. You also have a story to listen/ read or team read. That mark he you read the words you know and your partner reader reads the rest. So many new things. Such fun times.
Dora and Boots go to find a pumpkin for the pumpkin pie. They look at map and find the pumpkin patch. Troll has a riddle they must answer before they can cross his bridge. What was your answer? Did you "FALL" off the bridge. Did you find the right size of pumpkin.
The biggest questioned on of all. Did you have fun? If the answer was yes, I'm sure it was, you get to read it again and again. Oh, Yipee!! Yipee!!

The only thing I loathe more than a Dora book, is a Dora book that has pictures interspersed throughout the text to which I must point so my daughter can help me "read." Why, oh why, must my daughter love these books so very, very much? This was a triple whammy for her--it had Dora, it had pictures to "read," and it had PUMPKINS! Oh joy! What I wouldn't do for my little girl... But I still hope I can sneak it back in the library return bag before she asks me to read it more than three times. She gives it 5 stars, I give it 1, which averages out to--2. Perhaps my math is a bit off on averaging, but I really can't bring myself to give this torturous piece of mediocrity a three.

picture - very involved!! Really enjoyed reading it. Funny and good for kids.

Gag me with a spoon. I can't wait until my preschooler can read these books to herself so I don't have to read them anymore!

Dora and boots are on the hunt for the perfect pumpkin for grandma's pumpkin pie. Cna they solve the obstacles to getting one? Nice reader interaction. preschool and up
