Leigh has a story to tell and despite the absurdity of it, it has to be told before it's forgotten forever.

You see Leigh used to be a Cupid.
A very silly, naive and regretfully bitter Cupid.
And those are traits a Cupid shouldn’t technically possess.
When Leigh’s murderer is the next assignment, revenge stands in the way of helping Natalie McIntyre find her perfect partner…
That is until the appearance of the blue spark.

I like to write non-serious humorous fiction with battleaxes and ditherererers all set in a fictional Yorkshire village. I like video games and plants and coffee and pizza and the occasional gulp of air.

This book took me totally by surprise. I thought the summary looked interesting, and it was cheap, so I grabbed it on an impulse. I very rarely buy anything on an impulse. This was such a pleasant surprise I may do it more often.

The plot summary is pretty accurate, so I won't go into that here too much.

The writing is solid, the characters feel like real people, the dialog is fantastic, the pacing is great, and the concept is original and interesting. Also, it's a rare author that can describe things in a way that seem genuine. What I mean is, if a normal person were faced with this situation, how would they react? Leigh Parker pulls it off flawlessly.

The interplay between the main characters was fascinating. Even though it was first person, I felt as if both of the main characters were well represented and were fully developed. The characters were unlikeable at first, but in a way that made me feel guilty for not liking them. Which made it so much better when I began to really connect with them as they developed and their personalities filled out. By the end of the book I just wanted to give both of them a massive hug. To say they grew on me would be an understatement.

If the next book is half as good, Leigh Parker will be going on my very, very short list of authors from whom I will read anything they publish. (Molly Harper, Nalini Singh, and Kelly Quindlen for those curious.)

I know it sounds like I'm gushing, but it really was a genuinely fantastic read.

Oh man did I laugh while reading this book. The one-liners simply never stop. Yes, it starts off a little slow with Leigh giving the reader the run down on the rules and such of being dead and a cupid. But once she meets Natalie the fun really starts. Yes, the language is deplorable. They curse like sailers, but there really couldn't be a better way to express the supreme frustration of some of the characters. Yes, some of the antics are simply over the top, but if you just suspend your judgement and roll with the punches it is a lot of fun. I really enjoyed it.

I really liked Leigh and Natalie (even though Leigh was possibly the most unlikeable person alive...and really Leigh wasn't that far behind). They took chunk after chunk out of each-other, but you could relate to their situation. They are the odd couple and stuck with each other. They made the best of it by taking it out on one another. Despite their extreme dislike for each-other their emotional shift was easy to follow and didn't feel too abrupt. Then the whole thing wrapped up on and incredible AWWW moment. As an aside I liked Sam and God too. I'm just saying.

I don't usually like books told in the first person, but Leigh's voice was so conversational (bubbly even...she was a blond) that I'll make an exception for it. The POV worked well. I'm told that there is a sequel due out by the end of the year (10 Ways To P*** Off A Reaper). I'm eagerly awaiting it's release and can't wait to read it.

This was a pretty cute story. When reading this is sounds like someone is telling the story as it happens. There's not a lot of detail, just whats happening at the current time. This is a very original story about a girl who dies, gets sent to heaven, only to find she has to work. Her Guidance Counselor pops in, gives her a copy of Jobs for the dead: Heaven Edition.

So basically, once you die you can be either an Angel, Reaper, or Cupid. Once you fulfill your job you are upgraded to Saint. Leigh tries out all her options, Cupid seems to fit best. It's been 3 years since she took the job and she get a task of pairing Natalie McIntyre with her soul-mate. Natalie hates people. She hates life. But the further Leigh digs into her past she figures out it was Natalie that killed her all those years ago. Then Leigh sees the spark. The blue spark happens between soul mates.

I don't want to give away too many details. pretty much everything its connected to something else in the story, and I don't want to give away the ending. Over all this is a pretty cute story!

This is a fun read with an unexpected twist!

The book starts out with Leigh, who has died, explaining how she became a Cupid. There are lots of rules to being a Cupid. We learn fun facts throughout about Cupids, Reapers, Angels, etc.

Leigh (Cupid) is tasked with a person named Natalie. Leigh has to find Natalie her soul mate in an allotted amount of time. Leigh is not happy about this at all, and we don't know why. It's obvious that Leigh knew Natalie before she died, but how?

Natalie is, like, a horrid person (at least appears to be). A funny horrid person. She is actually rather likeable after a bit. She is angry at the world and all that jazz. She appears to have no emotion and just really mean. Leigh doesn't help the situation with her snarky remarks, attitude, and what appears to be sabotage in finding Natalie's soul mate and her life in general.

Funniness ensues. Quirky funny. There is a different, yet good, kind of sense of humor in this writing. It's really rather cute.

It's written in first person from Leigh's point of view as she relates the story of the seven days she spent with Natalie to help her find her soul mate. The story is solid, there are a couple twists, and they are very well accounted for. Meaning: no gaps or holes in the story which seem to happen quite a lot in a book with twists and turns. So, this was nice. I like twists and turns and it's rare that I'm caught off guard by something that happens in a book....which I was in this, which was cool. This book is also dialogue heavy, which I personally enjoy, especially for a quicker read.

I was given this book by the author for a review. Which of course made me nervous as I was afraid it would suck, and I'd hate to hurt anyone's feelings. But, it was actually pretty good! This is the first book for the author, Leigh Parker, and I think they did a fab job! Oh, and I was not compensated in anyway, except I was lucky enough to be given the book for free. So ha! ;)

Through the course of this novel, you're following Leigh as she becomes a cupid, and then through her most difficult task as a cupid: finding a match for Natalie McIntyre. Natalie is one of the most hateful people I've ever met in a book, but not to the point of hating to read about her. She isn't an evil person; she's just had a hard time in life, is full of piss and vinegar about it, and takes it out on everyone around her.

My only real complaints about the book involve not being clear on cupid rules (e.g., at one point it's said that cupids are always of the same gender as their projects, but one woman's cupid was a male?), and that sometimes the violence (though not especially gory) was a little over the top, to the point of distraction.

This was a cute read though, and not half bad for the author's first novel. Despite some typos, they were easy to overlook while reading, especially because the story is entertaining and humorous. I would warn that there's quite a bit of swearing, but again, it's used humorously. I don't think I've ever read a book before that mixes somewhat serious subjects with such Looney-Tunes-esque slapstick, and for the most part it was done pretty well.

This book is a little diamond.

I don't review many books, and I especially don't rave about many (I think I'm a bit picky...) but I really, really enjoyed this one.
The writing style is lively, upbeat and with a quirky sense of humour. The observations are spot on, without stifling the fantasy side of having a cupid sort-of stalking one of the main characters. I found myself grinning for most of it and laughing out loud many times. The author skilfully wove humour into scenes of gravity and importance.

The concept is original and delivered in a fresh, confident way. The plot twisted and turned enough to keep me guessing all the way through so that I didn't see about two or three big shockers about to hit me full in the face - an excellent story. As an author, I was envious! As a reader, it made me purr!

I could go on and on about how much I liked it, but to be honest, I summed this book up in my first line: A diamond.

If you like romance, but not stodgy; or humour, but with an engaging plot... read this book!

This book was funny, witty and original. It also has a very surprising twist at the end that I totally wasn’t expecting. When I was sent the book to read and review I wasn’t quite sure if I would like it or not but I really enjoyed it. It was just fun. I loved the whole idea behind the story and thought it was extremely original. It basically documents Leigh’s attempts at being a Cupid, whilst trying to find the soul mate of the most antagonistic individual ever to inhabit the planet.

The depiction of Heaven in this book was hilarious. Heaven isn’t quite what you except. Once you pass through the shiny pearly gold gates you don’t spend eternity lounging around on comfy seats, eating delicious grapes. Nope. You have to work. Yes, you heard me right. God has devised a very well organised system where those who ascend to heaven work for eternity. And you thought life was hard right?! There are three occupations that you can take up when you reach Heaven which consists of being an Angel, Reaper or Cupid. There are some little tests that you have to do to make sure that your right for the job but once you pass you are forever stuck helping those below on Earth. I loved this idea. I am not religious and not quite sure what I believe, but this hilarious depiction of Heaven tickled me.

The whole book centres on Leigh, a bitter little Cupid who is totally peed off when she is assigned as a Cupid to the most boring, hot headed, suicidal manic that is Natalie Macintyre. She cannot believe that she has been assigned to her that she actually goes and takes it up with God. There’s no messing with God. Leigh immediately dislikes Natalie and if she wasn’t terrified of burning in Hell (which she does think might be better than having to be Natalie’s Cupid) she would have quit. I must admit I was a bit taken back with Leigh’s hatred of Natalie (all explained of course) but I did want to step into the book and give the girl a good few slaps myself. You know your reading a good book when your emotions get stirred up all over the place; and this book did. I was angry at both of the characters one minute, then giggling to myself, then getting quite fed up of their constant bickering. The characters developed throughout the book, and at one point have done complete role reversals; just goes to show how much they impacted upon one another.

I liked the whole feel and tone of the book. It was fun, witty and sometimes I felt as if the narrator was really just sitting next to me telling me this entire story face to face. I felt as if it wasn’t too serious and that it was just a light hearted, sweet and fun read. It had me guessing in parts and surprised me in its conclusion. A great and original story, definitely worth the read.

I must say that I love the author's take on what happens to us when we die! After a reaper has dropped us off in Heaven, we'll be presented with three choices: Reaper, Angel, or Cupid. One of these jobs must be taken, with all rules abided by, or get sent straight to hell! Well, Leigh is dead and she makes her choice: Reaper, but fails. So she moves on to Angel: fails again. Her last shot at avoiding the fiery pit of hell is being a matchmaker for the still-breathing. Thankfully, Leigh can do that, at least until there's a little mishap in the Assignment Room and her "punishment" is finding love for Natalie, who "hates people." Leigh definitely has her work cut out for her with that one!

Leigh hates Natalie for a reason that is unknown to the reader, but I had my suspicions. So while Leigh accepts the job to find Natalie her soulmate, she also wrecks a lot of havoc in her life! Some of Leigh's stunts are hilarious, and others are down right mean. Cupid's aren't suppose to be as chaotic as Leigh is acting, so what's causing that? There's a twist that I didn't see coming about half way through, which I think made the second half of the story much better than the first. I love the interactions between Leigh and Natalie, when they're bickering (or straight out fighting), but more so when they're getting along.

Overall, 10 Ways to Kill a Cupid is a humorous, fun read, but at times it was bit too slapstick for my liking. I still very much enjoyed it though. The author's take on the afterlife was great, and Leigh's antics are hilarious. If you like a lot of humor mixed in with the paranormal, I'd suggest this book. There are a lot of typos in this one, and a pretty major inconsistency, but as a whole this story is really fun.

This book was provided to me in exchange for an honest and unbiased review

This book was really cute and fun and gave me the unexpected pleasure of going in a direction I didn't at all expect.

I have to admit that at first I found the humour in it a bit juvenile with the characterisations rather unsophisticated. It did grow on me quite a bit though and there were lines that made me laugh out loud.

Natalie is in many ways designed to be an unlikeable character but I thought she was great, the funniest aspect of the book by far! Leigh on the other hand was a difficult character to get my head around and I'm not sure I ever felt like I knew the cupid.

The idea of this book is very original, the afterlife created is unique and gave a light-hearted spin on what happens when you die. The dialogue was full of wit and sarcasm, as were a lot of there antics.

As I've already said, I loved where the story went. It shocked me by making me go from finding it all a bit childish to actually caring. The pace of change and growth in the book was good and made me want to keep reading. I sat down at around 40% and only looked up again when I finished.

If you're looking for an intense, passionate, emotionally charged romance then this isn't for you. If you're looking for a cute, funny, light-hearted romance full of sarcasm and the odd bit of slapstick, then you might enjoy this. Not much depth of character but good for a fun bit of escapism.

I never thought I'd like a book as much as I did this one. It was hilarious and sweet and just an all around enjoyable read.

See when you die..we all either become Cupids, Angels or Reapers. Hey, you get a choice at which you'd like to be too! Leigh screws up on the last two and thus ends up a Cupid. (I probably would too).

I spent most of the time reading this book laughing at how Leigh was trying to either annoy Natalie or find her soul mate. And when they say Natalie is hard to like, they aren't being kind. She's totally a huge pain in the butt, but as the story goes on, you come to like her, and you also like the friendship that is blossoming between her and her Cupid.

But she still has to find Natalie a soul mate.

That's where things get tricky!

See Natalie is more than just a girl that Leigh has to match up. She's the person....oh no...I'm not going to tell you that, it will spoil the ending which will knock you out of your seat.

Grab this book because it is the cutest, funniest thing you'll read. This is Leigh Parker's debut, and it definitely worth the time.

Ok, first things first here. If you're not an adult, get the heck outta here now, because this book is NOT for you. It's not the content, but the language. One of the main characters, Natalie, has a potty mouth to the extreme. Honestly, though, once I got reading I was so taken in by the hilarious, yet sad story that I forgot all about her bad manners.

I laughed out loud throughout most of this book. I could not stop laughing, no matter how hard I tried. This is not your normal story at all. The main characters are definitely not from the cookie cutter set. This book was totally different from anything else I think I have EVER read. EVER. Seriously, not exaggerating. This is a new kind of romance, with a very big twist. I loved it.

This was a fun, sassy read and I flew right through it. I never saw the twists coming and in a million years I never would have guessed the ending. If you have any kind of sense of humor and you are looking for something new to read, you really must check this out!

This is a good debut novel. The story ticks along nicely, with a few twists and turns (no spoilers!) along the way. With the setting (God, Heaven, Angels) it would have been easy to fall into cliché, but this story never does, nor is it a book about religion. The story and setting are imaginative, Leigh's version of Heaven is contrasted by the harsher reality of Natalie, the Cupid's assignment down on Earth. This is not chick-lit - neither Leigh nor Natalie would pop up in a Sophie Kinsella novel - it is a romantic tale but with a steely, humourous edge. I look forward to the sequel, and to other books by this author.

I was really surprised at how much I really, really loved this book! It was kind of a strange story and the characters were a little off but it was still fun and cute!

Leigh is a cupid sent to help the person who killed her find true love. Leigh is not exactly the nicest cupid when all of this starts out but she soon comes to care for Natalie.

At the end I didn't want to put it down. The twists that were thrown in really had me doing a double take. It was really good! I'm so glad I decided to pick this one up!

10 Ways to Kill a Cupid is a very unexpected read. Not only is it a laugh out loud comedy, but also a good play on the question - what happens after death. If unique and endearing describe Leigh, then sassy and foul mouthed describe Natalie. There are many twists and turns along the way to an end that I didn't see coming. If a comedy with romance and an undercurrent is your thing, then get your copy now.

Wow, I think it has been so long since I've read a book written by an English author. I thought it was a lovely until I got to the end and was hit by the ending. I honestly didn't think this book would be good but I'm glad I picked this book up, it was a great read and I strongly recommend it!

I unfortunately am not getting on with this.
Maybe my frame of mind but I can't get into this and would be unfair for me to do a full review when I couldnt finish it.
I may try it again soon but for now I have given up with it.

This book has it all. Mystery, humor, paranormal, love, hate, crime, suspense, and not to mention surprise. I have to admit, i never saw it coming. This book was so well written that i doubt anyone but Leigh Parker could have written it. Was it an autobiography? Hmmmm... you read it and tell me.

A fabulous debut novel. The lovely engaging characters draw you in from the start . A clever and witty take on a romance, with plenty of twists and turns along the way. I shall certainly look forward to seeing what Leigh gives us next.
