I liked this book and agree that Bread and the white carbs are bad...really bad if you look at our expanding waistlines. Cut the carbs, cut the sugar and live a healthy more active lifestyle and your weight wont be a problem. Not a bad book it had lots to say about what to eat and what not to eat. Listen to the cut the crab bread and white carbs and you will look great in a swimsuit.

I’ve decided to cut bread and gluten out of my diet due to arthritis, but I picked up this book because of the title. I do feel that Bread is the Devil and it is a hard item to ignore. Everyone eats bread and loves to eat it warm fresh from the oven. Yummy with butter dripping off the sides, hungry already. I digress, and now I need to think about a healthy serving of fruits or vegetable instead.

Bread is the Devil is an interesting book that helps you cut the white bread, fried breads, and other empty calorie items from your diet. You can eat bread, but make sure it is whole grain, me I just cut it all out and after 3 months I feel great(my back/spine arthritis is better and my hip feels almost normal again.) But I think that cutting bread out would help many lose those unwanted pounds and help you become healthier overall. Cut those empty fat/calorie/carb filled items from your diet and feel good again. By the way, fat is your friend….sugar and white carbs are the enemy.

Cutting carbs is a great way to lose weight and it is really not that difficult. Have a goal in mind will make it easier to say NO to the Devil carbs out there. Losing weight or just cutting back on empty calories makes this book a good read for you. Keep in mind that not every book can help everyone, so read a few different books on healthy eating and pick what works well for you.

the title was what prompted my voyeuristic reading of this book. as i suspected, the title was more controversial than the premise and recommendations of the book -- eat good carbs not refined...etc. What stood out for me about this book was the abundance of information it gives people to face and accept their compulsive eating habits and deal with them. it drives the premise home that we haveto take responsibility for our actions and eating and the first step is to recognize our pitfalls.
and yes, you are supposed to skip the bread basket at dinner most of the time.

Meh. I didn't think the advice in this book was very helpful. Eat more frozen dinners? No thanks. If you eat because you're bored, keep yourself busy! Oh really? I never thought of that! I read so many diet books, hoping to pick up a tip or two, but this one really didn't do anything for me at all.

Despite the sensationalist title, the book is actually extremely realistic for people of all lifestyles - thanks to the customized plans for all your excuses. Definitely recommended, especially for road warriors like me thanks to the awesome "stealth choices" when dining out.

While I don't agree that "Bread is the Devil", I do agree with some of Bauer's healthy eating techniques. This book is not one to read cover-to-cover. Find the "type" of eater you are and read her tips. They are pretty good.

Really, all diet books are very similiar. This one reads easily, addresses a variety of reasons people fail at dieting, and offers a minimum of recipes. It has a section on best choices at specific restaurants.

I just couldn't get into this book after I read Chubster. This seemed boring and repetitive regarding stuff I already knew. Oh well, I tried.

Fairly misleading title, but good book to figure out why you eat what you eat, and when.

the writer really focuses on the habits of one, and doesn't enforce things
