Blondynka w kwiecie lotosu

Kwiat lotosu to święty symbol buddyzmu i ludzkiej duszy.

Himalaje, Tybet i Sri Lanka. Hinduistyczne Indie. Morderczy trekking w okolicach Annapurny, niebiański spokój gór na Dachu Świata, herbata z masłem i solą, tajemnice reinkarnacji, Władca Pierścieni i Magiczny Ząb, Świątynia Szczurów, Taj Mahal, skarby maharadży, buddyjskie prawdy, słonie i diamenty i mądrość Dalajlamy.

It's a travel book about the Himalayas, Tibet and Sri Lanka, Buddhism themed.

I have mixed feelings about this Author and her books. When I was younger, I used to be her ardent fan. And I still think that she is the perfect writer for people who are just beginning their adventures with travel books. Her passion for travelling is really infectious :) ! Moreover, her writing style is light and humorous. Very, very vivid. And the photos! It's one thing to read about women in saris looking like colourful butterflies, and another to see them at the same time. And she adds funny and cute cartoons of herself acting goofy from time to time. To sum it up, her books are highly readable - very entertaining.

However, when I started to read more and more books with different points of view, when my outlook matured a bit, some things just started to feel...grating. Like in this book, in the part about the Himalayas and Tibet - she has such a crush on the cultures there that she sees no flaws. She keeps on writing about humans being happier without distractions of modern world and so on. It's all so... so noble savage.

Pani Beato - do zobaczenia w kolejnej pozycji National Geographic! Czytajcie to bo to jest dobre!
