The story was okay, but the illustrations were nice. I loved the texture of the bears and the trees.

[SPOILERS AHEAD]

I've read a few of these books (Little Bear's) and so far I have only liked one ending of the books I read. This ending was a weird. It ended with "Lucy loves that!" and Lucy was only mentioned once at the beginning. I read this and thought to myself, "Who in the world is Lucy? The doll?". I checked at the beginning and Lucy was indeed the doll, but not mentioned again until the very end. Lucy shouldn't have even been in the book since she was only mentioned twice and isn't really a crucial character in the story. She is kind of a useless "character". It would have been fine if the story ended with "Later, she skipped home to her family.". The end. You literally don't need anymore sentences after that, but instead we have Emily thinking to herself, "I will have had two birthday parties, Emily thought. Lucy loves that!". Those sentences weren't necessary. Who cares if Emily would have had two parties? Plus it raises questions about the other party and why she has two parties and these friends weren't invited. I realize she is human and the other party will probably will be a human party, but it's just such an odd way to end the story. I was so disappointed and slightly confused (about the Lucy part). Terrible ending.
