Bobbie Brooks is living the life she's always dreamed of. A life full of music, success, and love—or so it seems. Suddenly, her perfect world shatters, leaving her alone, broken, and penniless. In order to heal, Bobbie must confront the demons of both her past and present. Will she be strong enough to move into her future and make a new start with an old flame? *disclaimer - this is not your ordinary inspirational novel* I wrapped my arms around him and waited for my better judgment to kick in. I waited for the voice in my head to tell me to stop, that I was a married woman, and that this was wrong. I never heard it...

Married at sixteen, a mother twice by seventeen, and thrice a mother and divorced by twenty-four, Adrienne Thompson is no stranger to adversity. Not your typical teenage mother, she went on to complete her college degree and to earn her nursing license. She attributes God's faithfulness as the catalyst for her success in life. Now, having raised three children as a divorced mother, she is sharing a long hidden talent and passion with the world. Using the lessons that life has so expertly taught her as a guideline (betrayal, abusive relationships, self-esteem issues, witnessing the deteriorating effects of drug abuse), she has created stories that will both entertain and inspire the reader.

Adrienne currently resides in Arkansas in her newly empty nest. Formerly an RN, she now writes and publishes her stories full time. She is also a motivational speaker.

I cannot remember when last had I enjoyed a good romance as much as I did this one.
“Bluesday” is a truly beautiful and inspiring love story - the kind of book you can read through in one relaxing evening and enjoy every moment thereof.

Set in the African-American community, this book is delightfully unique and highly informative about their culture. I really liked the characters and found it refreshing that the two main characters are not the usual stereotypical blue-eyed blonde girl and tall, dark and handsome boy.

From Mamma, the strict family matriarch to the more modern Bobby and the two amusing granddaughters; I was quite sad to say good bye to them at the end of the story.

“Bluesday” is not only a love story, but also a tale of healing and overcoming tribulations
such as alcoholism, bitterness, guilt and dealing with the harsh realities thereof. The romantic relationship between the main characters is truly beautiful and tastefully described, but of course, not without a few complications. It was refreshing to read a love story where the emphasis is on the love between the characters rather than the possible conflict they might experience.

Of course there are also moments of suspense - not the blazing guns type, but the type where you wonder whether the love between the main characters will survive the odds. The dialogue is engaging and extremely well written with subtle humor in all the right places.

I would highly recommend this attractively written romance to anybody who loves a good, gentle love story and I happily give “Bluesday” a 5 star rating, hoping that we will see more books similar to this one from Adrienne Thompson in the near future. (Ellen Fritz)

FAITH & REDEMPTION

Bobbie Brooks is a long way from the small town she grew up in. While living her dream as a successful blues singer and traveling with her manager husband, Bobbie’s perfect life is shattered, and she is forced into counseling. She retreats back home to her mother to regain her sanity and emotional strength. Bobbie soon realizes that this break from stardom just might be what the doctor ordered. As she makes strides to accept her healing process, Bobbie is grounded by the peaceful surroundings of her upbringing and a very special friend from the past. Is the potential of a happy future enough to get Bobbie through the most traumatic time of her life or will she yield to the pain of her past and give up on life?

Adrienne Thompson’s Bluesday was an inspiring read with a good dose of reality. The author was successful in highlighting the true meaning of faith and redemption when it comes to life and love. I love how it highlights the struggles that celebrities can experience behind the scenes, denoting that no one is exempt from struggles. Ms. Thompson did a wonderful job illustrating the various phases of the journey Bobbie traveled in order to face her demons, as well as how not addressing your problems can cause further damage. I would recommend this title to all readers. I am also looking forward to reading Thompson’s Been So Long.

Blues After Hours

“Nobody knows you when you down and out
In my pocket not one penny” – Mamie Smith

Blues singer Bobbie ‘BluAnn’ Brooks sings the blues for her audience every night, but she never thought she would be singing the blues for herself. After her husband, Clyde, leaves her heartbroken and penniless, Bobbie decides to get her life back on track. She realizes she has to deal with her past demons before she is able to embrace the future.

I read “Bluesday” by Adrienne Thompson in a few hours. “Bluesday” touched my heart so much I shed a few tears while reading it. I love when an author is able to write about RAW emotions and have it grab hold of the reader’s heart. The author touched on subjects such as strength, courage, and the love we have within.

I highly recommend this book to anyone that wants to read a book that has a believable storyline and characters. Side Note: As a music fan of all genres, I love how the author titled each chapter after a famous blues song.

I absolutely enjoyed this book. It was a real life story that anyone can relate to. Bobbie's mother was so funny to me when we first meet her because I could definitely imagine my mother being that way.

The story line has a nice flow to it and kept me interested all the way through. I laughed, I cried, it was really good. I am anxiously awaiting book 2 so I can see how everything evolves. I finished this book in less than a day. Probably would have finished it in a couple of hours if I didn't have distractions.

I recommend this book to anyone looking for a great romance, some truly gripping life lessons, and an all around enjoyable story.

Bobbie BluAnn Brooks world of blues comes full circle, just like a blues song. She goes from having it all, to having absolutely nothing in the blink of an eye. But while she is at the bottom, Bobbie finds the real friends and real love that have always been waiting there to pick her up.

Adrienne Thompsons writing is smooth and realistic it’s not over the top and the love story wasn't so perfect that it's just not believable. I loved Bobbie's character because she was flawed, but she was able to admit it and grow from her mistakes. She was strong and weak at the same time, and that made me connect with her. Can't wait to read the sequel!!!

Bobbie Ann, Superstar

Good mellow read. Bobbie Ann and Reggie had a past which led them in different by directions. When Bobbie gets swindled and loses everything, she's forced to return to her childhood home to live with her mother. Reggie has returned and is a prominent member of their Church; one of the places that Bobbie is reluctant to attend.
Bobbie is dealing with some self revelations while navigating her relationship with her mother and battling memories of here dearly departed father; she learns some shocking news concerning her mother. Reggie is there every step of the way; he is determined to have a second chance with Bobbie Ann until she reveals a secret she is holding.

Singing the blues

Bluesday is a great read!!!!A story about real love and a story about need and convenience mistaken for love. The song lyrics are great poetry and I absolutely love the church services and sermons. I highly recommend this book and can't wait for the sequel!!!!!!!!!!! Great job, Adrienne Thompson, you have a fan in me.

Powerful Story About Forgiveness

I loved this story. Ms. Thompson weaved a powerful tale of forgiveness. When Boobie fell to the bottom, she had no choice but to take it back home. Home where it all began. Home where things first went wrong, and home where she found love, forgiveness, and healing.

Good read

This was my first time reading this author and I really enjoyed Bobbie Ann's story. A story of love and forgiveness with life lessons sprinkled in. Great story line and character development a little slow in spots but not enough to mess up the story.

You got me!

Okay, Ms. Thompson. You got me. Smiles.

I loved Blues day and I am totally invested in Bobbie and Reggie's story.

Good marketing move by making Book 1 a freebie. Now, I am sure I will be buying every book in the series. Don't let me down.

Bluesday was a great read! I am happy to discover still another author who is new to me, who has an impressive body of work already. Sign me up for your fan club. I am sure we will be friends.

As I start to read the pages, Bobbie has been branded into singing the Blues, especially named after her father's favorite Blue's singer: Bobby "Blue" Bland (which was my great-grandfather's favorite too besides B.B. King). The readers is able to go behind-the-scenes and in the lifestyle of a familiar, yet famous, singer that undergoes the blues in her every day life affair aside from the stage and performances. She married Clyde who reminds her of her father, twenty years her senior, but yet suspects he is cheating except with no ground evidence to nip it in the bud of this suspicion. She had to learn how to do everything herself once her man decided to serve her divorce papers. I recall in the olden days, women relied on their fathers to lead, protect, and provide and then the husband did the same, which left some women homeless and trying to figure out how to take care of themselves. Unbelievably, this is still happening in the current day.

There were some comical parts such as the "mismatched chairs" in the church sanctuary (and actually remember going to churches that had this same issue and chuckle at the thought).

Women are considered the 'weaker vessel' but Bobbie is able to examine herself to see that she had become a weak person, lack of self-confidence, and able to fend for herself. Through this new divorce procedure and AA meetings, she is able not only to get back on track but detox these emotional demons that kept making her seem and feel WEAK. This was my favorite part of the story. Wake-up calls are always seeing the person in the mirror for who they truly are within!

Bluesday by Adrienne Thompson is the story of blues singer, Bobbie Brooks. Bobbie seems to live a pretty successful life as an artist and she has her husband, Clyde, by her side as her manager. Bobbie’s world turns upside down when her husband disappears and all of her credit cards except for one are declined.

Bobbie begins to go down a path of self-destruction and before she hits rock bottom she returns home to Arkansas. While at home, Bobbie must begin to put her life back together as she has no money, still has no idea where her husband is located, and then she runs into Reggie, who is the first love of her life. Bobbie must now not only face her present struggles she must conquer past demons so she will be able to move forward with her life.

Adrienne Thompson has written a fresh story and concept in Bluesday. It was so refreshing to read because as a reader I could feel the different emotions and it felt as if I could feel Bobbie’s pain, betrayal, sadness, frustration, and then her happiness. I stopped short of giving Bluesday a 5-star rating because I personally did not care for the nickname Clyde had for Bobbie and the word “champagne” was repeatedly misspelled.

Overall, I would recommend this book to others. And, I look forward to reading the sequel, Lovely Blues.

Reggie and BluAnn

You know life has a way of giving you lemons. It's up to you to make lemonade. Adrienne, captured the attention of the story through music. A genre that speaks to your soul, the Blues.

The heartfelt emotions are real, as you travel with BluAnn through her road of self esteem and self love. Holding onto a secret and pain like none other.

Reggie having faith on his side seeking to capture the love once lost but trusting that God will make away.

Through it all we see faith in action. How pray chances things. How leaning on others does not equate to weakness. How recognizing that the only way to March into the future is to accept the past.

BluAnn accepted her past as was able to walk into her future.

Reggie accepted his past and was about to walk into his future.

Together they accepted each other and with God, love and forgiveness Reggie and BluAnn were able to come together.

Not Preachy

This story had a spiritual element without being preachy. A message about forgiveness, family issues, infidelity, chemical and emotional dependence, and dealing with all of these without losing faith. Bobbie was a blues singer being managed by her overbearing husband. The story will reveal his true nature rather quickly, and Bobbie was left broken and had to move back home to Arkansas with her mother, and pick up the pieces of her life. At home now and struggling, an old friend, once the man she loved had come back into her life. He was a man of God now, but his passion for Bobbie never waned. They went through some stuff, but arrive as better people, and better for one another.. A good read.

I'm giving the book a 4-star review based on the writing which was great. As far as the story it flowed nicely and was very congruent, though on a personal level I didn't care much for the very preachy overtones. Still it kept my attention, made me feel emotions, thoughts, etc, so it did what it was intended to do. I would recommend it without hesitation, only a slight admonishment that if the person reading isn't really into church or God, this isn't the book for them.

A great page-turner as Bobbie Ann's life goes from fast-paced to total collapse to returning to her roots in Arkansas. After the blues singer's marriage ends, she ends up back home where she rebuilds relationships with her mother and others from her youth. The writer, Adrienne Thompson, has a real knack for telling a tale and this one can easily be read in a night or two as you pull for Bobbie Ann and hope that she can pull it together after all of the shakeups. Also, a great romantic yarn!

Bluesday is a beautiful and inspiring love story.
One of the best romance books I read.

I really liked the characters and can picture the characters as I read the story.
The story line fits the title perfectly.

Bluesday is also a story of healing and overcoming tribulations
such as alcoholism, bitterness and guilt.

The dialogue is engaging and well written .

Loved it. Well written. Great down home country backdrop. Love these kind of books. Takes me back to my hometown and how I grew up in rural America. Bobbie was a strong woman to not have a break down after what she went through.

Loved the main character but the storyline moved way too fast for me. Not enough details and character development. It didn't flow at all and the ending was too perfect and seemed forced. Not sure if I'll be reading the sequel.

Pretty Good clean romance

Sometimes you just want a clean romance that is not so predictable. While the story isn't something one has never heard, it has enough of a twist to keep your interest. I look forward to more from this author.
