Lindsay Collins can't remember the accident that injured her and took her sister's life six months ago—but someone can. Trooper Joe Rossetti can't seem to get the images of that night out of his head. Plagued with guilt for not being able to do more to save Lindsay's sister, Joe doesn't want to get close to Lindsay. But when he sees her struggle to relate to the orphaned niece she's now raising, he can't walk away. Lindsay and Joe will have to face their pain and doubts together in order to make a new family bloom.
I bought it for a quarter at the library. Man, I'll NEVER get that twenty-five cents back. The characters are horrible stereotypes, the dialogue whiny where it wasn't sappy chrischun platitudes... I threw it in the burn barrel. At least with Kindle freebies, I don't lose a quarter when they stink...
Accident victim, Lindsay, is trying to raise her sister's daughter Emma. The accident that killed her sister, Delia, was a huge turning point in Lindsay's life as well...
This book has a good writing and nice scenes. But I didn't felt the connection between hero and heroine. There was a decent chemistry, for sure. That said, their personalities doesn't make their love credible. Besides, the heroine's insecurities were a bit exaggerated at some point of the story. And I didn't like her parents. Too many flaws for a book that had huge potential to be a Love Inspired classic.
I generally like the Love Inspired books because they are light-hearted, quick reads with good Christian values, but this one was more corny than some of the others. About 3/4 of the way through the sappiness was a bit much to take, and it honestly wasn’t very realistic. Still, I liked the characters overall and as usual the ending was a sweet one.
This was a really pleasant story with some good dialogue, but it was a bit slow and then the ending felt really rushed. Not a bad read, but not my new favorite, either.
