Having relocated to Peru to prepare for the birth of their twins and be closer to their kin, life is stressful enough for wolf-shifter couple, Taylor and Julian. But when their newborn daughter vanishes from her crib, they’ll do anything to bring her home. As a clan leader is suspected of magical malfeasance, the couple must return to a world of symbols, incantations, and curses that they thought they’d left behind. Taylor never wanted much to do with witchcraft, but now she must depend on her birthright to save baby Luna. Once she dusts off her magical tome of the Coven Daughters lineage, though, a spell with a mind of its own infiltrates her thoughts just as Julian begins to have a series of baffling precognitions and dreams. While simultaneously fighting to keep their strained love alive, Taylor and Julian embark on a mission to wrest little Luna from the clutches of a shadowy occult group. But the deeper they dive into magic’s dark waters, the less they understand. Will Taylor and Julian solve the magical puzzle and save their daughter—or will getting too close to the darkest secrets of the Coven Daughters system spell their demise? Each page of “Song of Virgo” is filled with twists and turns full of mind-boggling conspiracy theories, occultism, and magic that will shake readers to their core.
What a ride! Song of Virgo follows wolf-shifter parents Taylor and Julian on a high-speed journey through magic and danger into the depths of the occult to find their missing daughter. Turner yet again weaves a thoroughly gripping story with seamless worldbuilding, sublime prose, and plenty of steam. Highly recommend for any lover of paranormal romance and books you can't put down.
Each of the Coven Sisters stories has featured a different couple. Song of Virgo's pair is unique in that they are already an established couple, with twins on the way, the pair of shifters are deeply in love. Even though the reader is just meeting them, Turner has done a great job showing the depth of their relationship and passion for each other. Taylor and Julian FEEL like a wildly in love couple.
On the surface, they have what looks like the ideal life. However, that happiness is quickly turned on its head when their new daughter is taken. The couple's joy when we first meeting them contrasts even more deeply with their pain at losing their child, and Turner handled that delicate ground respectfully.
Their rescue attempt is complicated when Taylor is forced to turn to spellcraft, a part of her heritage she never wanted, and had avoided. Once she does, however, her spell takes on a life of its own, and she's left fighting to understand what's real, and what's the spell.
Once Taylor and a confused and Julian discover the group behind their daughter's disappearance, they're thrown into a race to save her from the most corrupt parts of the magical world.
Overall, this is a fast-paced story with complex, conflicted characters and huge stakes. Another great addition to the series.
Another page turner by Kat Turner! I know, corny, but true. This book reads like a supernatural true crime drama that you can't stop reading. The big bads in Song of Virgo are terrifying. My heart was thumping the whole time as I rooted and stressed out over the romantic leads finding a successful resolution to their quest. The Coven Daughters is a wonderful series. I can't wait for the next installment.
Taylor and Julian have to work to save their daughter Luna after she is abducted while trying to keep their relationship together as a spell with a mind of its own causes disruption. Humor and romance make this exciting tale a page-turner. I liked.
I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
A provocative story where good is pitted against pure evil, and comes through the ordeal scarred but ultimately triumphant. Even when the world is falling apart around them, Taylor and Julian's love holds strong. This story sees the characters through conspiracy rabbit holes that turn out to be real. They face disturbing dark magic, gruesome rituals, and a whole lot of weird, but their love guides them through. I'd recommend this for fans of enduring romance, conspiracies, and witches.
