This is a fantastic book if you want to get started creating apps for smart phones. googlelabs created a GUI based software program called app inventor and then MIT took over maintenance of it. you do not need to know anything about programming to create the apps in this book but it did help. the apps are cool: a few games, a No Texting While Driving app, a car locator in case you are one of those who forgets where she parked, even an app to look up prices on amazon. there's a phone simulator in case you don't own a smartphone that shows the app as you create it that is great for testing. a great place to start. i highly recommend this book.
