Read for my Survivor Book Club. A woman crashed on a solo flight. The book surprised me, and was not what I expected, but I enjoyed it. It is interesting how much mental toughness goes in to play in hard situations....especially when you just have to wait for help.

I love reading true stories. Especially when the true stories are about someone I know. This is the story of a friend’s mother. It was so cool to read Sherleen’s ability to survive. She’s inspiring! It’s not a great piece of literature, but I still enjoyed it.

Short story of faith, good record for her descendants to have, a relative and friend of mine knew the woman and helped with the search. Heard there was also a movie made about the experience but haven’t watched it.

True story of a Utah woman, wife, mother and pilot who crashed her plane in a downdraft in 1981 and was lost in the mountains for several days.

My biggest issue with this book was how ill prepared the pilot was prior to her leaving. Yeah, I know, no one hops into a plane planning to crash, but flying solo and she didn't even have a water bottle, a whistle, or a flare packed? Wouldn't there be a whole part on 'what to do/have if you crash' as part of certification? I don't know what the weight limit for cargo on a Tomahawk plane is, but everyone one I know in Idaho and Utah has a 72 hour kit of sorts in their trunk and none of them plan on crashing in the wilderness either.
Maybe none of those items would have helped, but at least be prepared.

This is a true story. This happened really close to the area I grew up in. Loved this book! My dad is a pilot and at the time of reading this, I wanted to follow in my dad's aviation footsteps. Great book of determination and survival! Book was later made into a movie that I did have the chance to see. Someday I'll have the time and money to get my pilots license. (The money part that one just doesn't quite have as a 17 year old). Very grateful to a Dad who'd let me fly along with him teaching me about flight!

When I was younger, my parents told and retold me this story of faith and miracles in their own words. For years I have wanted to know more about exactly what happened when a plane took off from my home town back in 1981 and didn't return on schedule. I was taken inside Sherleen's strong head and loved imagining her confidently comforting herself by singing "I Know My Father Lives." I was floored by her feelings about the wildlife surrounding her, touched by her letters to family, and filled with hope each time Sherleen spotted another tireless rescue plane overhead.

I found this book on my mother-in-laws shelf. It is the story of a LDS woman who crashed while flying. I remember watching the movie based on her experience flying her last solo flight. I would have loved more insite to the family and more depth in the story, but overall it was a good read. I read it in just a couple hours.

This is a true story about my Aunt! Her experience and story is amazing! But, I felt like the book didn't draw you in. It's incredible to hear her tell the story herself. She has done many firesides.

This is a true story about a woman who crashed her airplane during her solo flight test. Truly inspiring. It might be hard to find in a library; I had to do an inter-library loan for it. There wasn't a single copy in my state; the one I borrowed came from Utah.

Remarkable true story of a woman who survived a plane crash and five days, with no water, in the middle of nowhere before she was rescued. It also talks about her LDS faith's role in her rescue. The writing isn't the best and at times seems slow, but the story itself is pretty amazing.

This is a true story based on a female pilot in training taking her first solo flight but crashes with wind turbulence not far out of Grand Junction, CO. Her rescue takes about 6 days. Her story of survival and how her family and those who are lead to find her are very interesting.

This is a story about my Aunt, so of course I love the story, I think it could have told more about her life, before and after the crash.

This woman lived in Price at the time of this plane crash, and I know many of the people mentioned in the book. I have also heard her speak at a fireside. It is an amazing story.

A heartfelt telling of one woman's experience of surviving as a pilot of a small plane. It was well told, and easily read. And- tissues might be good to have on hand when reading it.
