Jean works in a garage and consoles herself with alchol and perfunctory sex. Jean’s insistent neighbor, Dawn, and Dawn’s Irish laborer husband Mick, and Mick’s spineless friend, Len, all join her in a funny, drunken, sad celebration of their mutual affection and bleak lives.

overall, boring and hard to read. didnt make me reach for it ever to reach the end, and with a play this short, that should never be a problem. The characters are believable, i just dont care about them.

Mike Leigh often hits the mark. However, sometimes his plays can be on the more boring side. However, spending more time with the characters, their appeal is evident. There are strange things about the characters' behaviour. Sometimes they break out into song, sometimes they try to resist rape. You know this movie would be interesting to see performed, but I feel weird when actors are naked in plays.
