Born in Boston and raised in the rowdy, loving atmosphere of a big Irish family, Lucy O'Malley was destined to follow in her father's footsteps and become a police officer.
I thought it started out fairly well and I was getting really interested, but all of a sudden -- about halfway through -- she lost me. It seemed to wander off in directions I was not following. Then toward the end -- almost the VERY end - it picked up again. I was pretty sick of the dead woman and her various children and affairs. There were two teenage men who committed suicide and that seemed like an unlikely coincidence. The detective was involved with a family member of the murdered woman and again -- unlikely. Just didn't like this much.
While it was rather unbelievable that Lucy, the detective, is allowed to work on a case involving her new boyfriend, I enjoyed the plot and characters immensely. Geary has good timing and keeps you enthralled. I highly recommend this if you're tired of predictable mysteries, meaning that you figure out who did it long before the climax. I'll definitely read "Redemption" and her other novels.
I was reading this book and put it down and now for the life of me I can't find it! I hate it when I do this!I found it exactly where I left it. But I have a out of site can't find it mind some days.
