Even the Hell’s Angel needs a guardian to adventure into the Wrong Kind of Paradise.

Blac must choose between revenge against the British Lieutenant who’d ruined his family or keeping his word to the pirate who’d saved his life. Escorting the pirate’s daughter to her grandfather’s care becomes impossible when the little wanton steals his ship. Ordered by the lieutenant to retrieve the woman they call the Hell’s Angel, Blac is determined to honor his word to his friend and use the wayward wanton as bait. But will his plan cost him the only woman to ever steal his heart?

When Angel De’haviland’s father is imprisoned with charges of piracy, the pirate’s daughter commandeers a British privateer’s ship and plans to kidnap a high ranking official to ransom for her father’s release. But her attempted abduction is foiled by the very captain whose ship she’d stolen, and she becomes a captive herself. Now she must trust her handsome captor to free her father as he leads her right into the Wrong Kind of Paradise.

Nothing I like better than a pirate romance with the female being the lead character in the story. But when you have both Hero/Heroine as pirates why..even better! In Suzie Grant's book you have two hot-headed,stubborn,chemistry sizzling characters trying to out due one another and they just fly off the pages and lead each other a merry chase!English privateer Blac Barclay has a tough choice to make, his need for revenge against a British Lieutenant that ruined his family,or keeping his promise to a pirate who once saved his life. The story starts out with Angel De'Haviland's father being arrested for piracy.Angel takes command of the British ship and of privateer Blac Barclay. Sparks fly between these two as Blac swears he will recapture the ship and the spitfire she-cat as well! After learning of her plans for her fathers release, the suprise is on her when Blac captures her. But there is more to this story than these hot headed characters on the roving sea's,a relationship between these two deepens and changes,as they become aware not only of each other and their feelings, but someone is trying to kill them. Now they must band together and as the plot thickens,Angel now needs Blac to help her and to free her father. Can she trust him? And can she trust him with her heart? Blac makes plans of his own for her fathers release and Angel's fate, but at what cost? For he finds himself falling in love with her. What I liked about this story was great characters with unique personality's of their own. I liked how the author created a relationship that grew and deepened throughout the story, and that it was well balanced with sizzling love scenes,a great plot, lots of action and adventure. Truly a great swashbuckling romance that will leave you breathless. And if not a fan of "pirate romance" this one will make you one. Thank you Suzie for letting me escape on the high sea's with two characters I wont forget.
The Wrong Kind of Paradise begs for a sequel..or at least I do! Fantastic read:)

Action-Filled Adventure with Issues

Set in the Caribbean, beginning in 1689, this is the story of Angel De’Haviland, daughter of a pirate, who even as a young girl decided she wanted Captain Blac Barclay, a man ten years her senior who is loyal to her father. Blac is determined to protect her, even from himself, though that resolve doesn’t last long.

This is an action-filled story as Angel and Blac join forces to try and rescue Angel’s father, taken captive by a British lord who was married to Angel’s mother at one time and now seeks revenge. Frankly, the relationships were a bit confusing until the point at which all was revealed.

I wanted to like this story, which includes the earthquake and tsunami that destroyed Port Royal, Jamaica in 1692, as I like pirate adventures, especially with a bit of real history thrown in, however, from the beginning, I found the many typos, clichés (which abound), wrong word usage and modern phrasing distracting. Also, the ship terminology was often wrong (there are no stairs, walls, floors or banisters on a ship). Based on the descriptions, I also had difficulty picturing the battles in some places and where characters were in relationship to each other. Some things seemed to be left out, as well. (At one point the heroine, who has no problem killing men, stabs a man twice yet apparently walks away with no blood on her, as Blac says nothing when he sees her. Then later, her father is so badly beaten he cannot stand yet shortly after is running, fighting, and “hopping” down to a roof). If the details don’t concern you, you may enjoy this story, but they bothered me.

Bottom line: I think the book has great promise but needs work.

Pirates, Adventure, Kidnapping and Romance, what more can you ask of a story. Ms. Grant has a way of writing such strong characters that get wrapped up in their lives and you don’t want to leave.

Hell’s Angel as Angel De’Haviland, is now known needs a Guardian. Who better to be her guardian, than the man she has been in love with her whole life, English Privateer Blac Barclay. Tall, dark and extreme blue eyes, Blac also happens to be her dad’s best friend.

Blac is torn between the revenge of a Lieutenant and the pirate who saved his life. Somehow revenge gets lost along the way and replaced by his loyalty to Angel’s father. Angel’s father Logan is captured, giving sole guardianship to Blac. Angel thinking that Blac betrayed her father ends up stealing his ship and becoming captain of said ship. Angel has her own plans to steal a high ranking official and use a ransom to have her father released.

Two years Blac chases her around the high seas. When they finally meet up he ends up kidnapping her back where he tries to fulfill his promise to her father and take her to her rich English grandfather so that she can then be raised as a proper lady.

All good plans collapse and these are no different. Blac falls for this little Hellion just as she has fallen for him or should I say it has always been him for her. Throughout all the adventures and mishaps along the way they truly fall in love. As they soon realize that they are a perfect fit. The adventure leads them to betrayal by a family member, where a price has been put upon her head.

It is a very riveting story that takes us on an action filled adventure, with plenty of romance along the way. Ms. Grant has written a must read for anyone who loves the pirate in us all.

The daughter of a notorious pirate, Angel De’Haviland, is strong, smart and adores her father. When he’s taken prisoner by the British, she steals the ship of the man she believes betrayed her father and heads out to kidnap a British officer to swap for her father.

Blac Barclay is on a mission to deliver Angel to her grandfather, despite what the little hellion wants. What she wants is her father free, and Blac by her side. Instead, Blac wants to fulfill the promise he made to his lifelong friend, even though it’s tearing him apart.

Wrong Kind of Paradise is a top of the line action filled romance. Suzi Grant has done it again with a riveting story, strong complex characters and a “on the edge of your seat” tale. Don’t miss this one. Even if you’re not a pirate fan, Ms. Grant will make you one.

Much better quality than I expect from independently published writers. Good story, likable characters, and a nice variation on the usual pirate romance.

Struggling with this. Writing is choppy, repetitive and lacking technique in general. Too much telling going on.

Paid money for it though, sadly, so will come back to it at some point...

Let me start I really like the adventure romance story that Suzie Grant writes, I mean she really knows how to captive a reader. With that said let me get on with my review.

We start our journey somewhere in Caribbean Sea in 1689. Of course we would start there after all it is a pirate story. We meet Captin De'haviland's daughter (the pirate), Angel De'haviland, who is head over heels in love with her dad's friend. Yeah, we know this is going to go over well dad. Dad's friend is none other than privateer Blac Barclay who happens to be 12 years her senior. Age really doesn't matter when your love, right.

Life takes an unexpected turn, when her father is capture by Lieutenant Charles Worthington. She comes to find out that the man she loves and friend to her father is the one who betrayed them all. Oh no, this cannot be. Angel's course of life is change in a blink of an eye, because of untold secrets that might have saved her from heartache. However, that's just speculation. So, we see her stealing Barclay's ship and set sails to rescue her father.

Now we have a steaming hot mad Barclay who's determine to capture the alluring hellion that stole his ship. Determine to capture and teach her a lesson she would never forget.

A swashbuckling tale of deceit and mystery, which happens to be a fun read for a pirate adventure. Will we find our heroine forgive the man she loves or continue the crash course she set out for? I know the answer, but I think you should find out yourself and read Wrong Kind of Paradise.

If you're looking for a fast-paced adventure, this is it. When Angel De'haviland's father is arrested for charges of piracy and she commandeers a British privateer's, captain Blac Barclay's ship. Blac is furious and swears he'll recapture the ship and bring the girl in to the Leiutenant who's captured her father. After a two year cat and mouse chase he catches up to her in Port Royal and learns of her plans to kidnap a British commander to barter for her father's release. But Blac turns the tables on her and captures her instead. This is where the plot thickens and Blac makes plans to send her to grandfather's care until he can negotiate her father's release. Only someone is trying to kill her and Blac finds himself falling in love with her. Thier long history together creates a poignant relationship between the two as thier relationship deepens and changes. Despite all the action and adventure we get a glimpse of a real relationship, a deepening of affection and a chance to get to know each character deeply. I truly enjoyed Miss Grant's adventure and I am looking forward to many more. She's become one of my favorite authors. If you're looking for a wild ride, look no further.

This was a really fun historical romance that was both steamy and unpredictable. You got a woman pirate who wants to get her father out of a British prison…and if that means stealing the ship of the privateer she’s been lusting after since she was 12 years old, then that’s what she’s gonna do.

His name is Blac and because he’s 12 years older than her and friends with her father, he’s afraid to allow his and Angel’s romance to flourish. Blac also has some funny, preconceived notions about women...
