Mike Campbell can't believe his luck: he's got two free Zombies tickets and the most popular girl in his class has agreed to go to the concert with him! What Mike doesn't realise is that he's just made a deadly date with murder...
Should jealousy really push anyone this far?
This book is one of a series of Horror books which can be collected in your Funfax Horror File. Tear out the pages and slot them into the ring binder - or simply keep them together on your bookshelf.
This is another book that brings me loads of nostalgia. I remember reading it in the car when I must've been about 9 and being really proud that I was reading book with few pictures, and racing through it.
It's still very readable and fast-paced, but of course the writing is pretty simple for me now I'm an adult.
The plot is good, but I don't know why I liked the main character's love interest, Rachael so much all those years ago; she was actually kind of annoying and I'm still wondering what the protagonist, Mike saw in her.
The book starts with Mike getting tickets in the post from an anonymous source to see his favourite band, he asks Rachael along. They never even get to see the band as the date goes from bad to worse. After that, Mike receives threatening phone calls from someone telling him he's going to die.
What was a really creepy, tense book just doesn't hit quite the same all these years later as I kept asking why Mike's parents weren't concerned, and why the hell didn't they call the police?!
I still enjoyed it though; I couldn't believe how much of the plot I could actually remember. I also loved the illustrations by Matthew Jeffery.
