An Army moves on its stomach but combat rations only go so far for so long and a Soldier has to find something else to eat. From mess halls to mess kits, Chow chronicles one Soldier's inventiveness and adventure in food while deployed in wartime. A small snapshot into what many never think about - what's to eat?
Chow is an excerpt from an upcoming collection of essays regarding Victoria A. Hudson's service as an Army Reserve Soldier for over 32 years.
Currently - Vicki is in reset - completing a master's in sport psychology, golfing, bonding with her children, and slowly working back to writing. She is doing lots of reading so watch for updates on that.
In addition to a Master of Fine Arts in writing from Saint Mary's College of California, she has attended writing residencies at the Lambda Literary Emerging Writer Retreat (2007), Veterans Writing Project with the George Washington University's Writing Program Veterans Writing Conference (2013), and the Napa Valley Writers Conference (2013).
Distractions from writing generally involve playing in the dirt, creating culinary concoctions with what came out of the dirt, feral cat control and constant catching up with literary, news, science, geographic, and other such periodicals that arrive in the mail. When not dog wrangling, studying, golfing, bonding with her kids, or writing, find her in Azeroth.
An interesting short read. My only real complaint is I wanted more stories and more detail. Just as you get to know her style and pace the book is over. On the other hand this was a free ebook, and the introduction to Hudson's story-telling style was a big bonus.
