Cathexis: Necromancer's Dagger

Rate this book
Cathexis is a four book epic fantasy series. It is high fantasy, based on true good and evil. In the first book, Necromancer's Dagger, the epic saga of the Ardellen family begins. It starts them on a journey that will embroil much of the world before the epic conclusion in the fourth and final novel of the Cathexis Series. The story starts out fairly simply as you follow a dark plot by a necromancer, a noble and a mercenary who are bent on the destruction of the ruling family of Lindankar. But as the story continues through the series more and more is revealed until everything is wrapped up into a Gordian knot that will all be resolved in the grand climax. Join the Ardellen family on this exciting action packed adventure. Wars, magic battles, ancient evil, alternate planes of existence, horrid creatures and dark plots all tangled in a battle for control of the world. This is high fantasy with the darkest of evil against the purest of good. Love, sacrifice, friendship, revenge, betrayal, and triumph all wrapped up in one massive tale. Come join the Ardellens and experience the world of Cathexis as the story begins to unfold in book one, Necromancer's Dagger.

What a great discovery! I picked this fantasy series up seeking some junk food reading and was surprised by a full meal!
The characters are well developed with a great flowing story line. This series rivals The Lord of the Rings and Dune! I cant put them down!

I also came by this book by chance and I loved it. The whole series is encapsulating. I couldn't put the books down and read them all back to back in a week. I highly recommend this series for anyone who likes necromancers, magic, and swords all included in a thrilling adventure.

Read both series by this author - Cathexis and Nexlord, and was absolutely surprised by the fast-paced, twist-filled stories. Characters are well developed and the books have so many layers that anyone can appreciate them. Whether you're just looking for a fun, exciting read or a deeper message about friendship, loyalty, and honor you can find it in both series. Defiantly worth reading, and very hard to put down.

I first came across the works of Philip Blood with his Nexlord series. Like in the Nexlord series the story centers around friends, loyalty and family. The plot of this series is both interesting and complex with interesting twists and turns which allows the reader to easily become engaged. Like in his Nexlord series Philip Blood created an interesting magic system that is logical but still fantastic which spurs the reader's imagination in what could be possible with it. The cast of character is quite large and so this is an epic tale. One can also see the influences of Frank Hebert's Dune series has on the book but it has its own individuality that keeps it from feeling like a clone, so if you are a fan of Frank Herbert then this series is for you. A must read that I highly recommend.
