Book of 1 Samuel KJV

Rate this book
The KJV (King James) version of the Bible offers one of the earliest and most genuine translations of the ancient texts it was based on. Also known as the Authorized Version, it was completed after extensive work, over a period of 7 years, from 1604 to 1611.

This is a faithful reproduction of the Book 1 of Samuel, one of the most significant books of the Old Testament. Telling the story of how the rightful King of Israel was eventually chosen and anointed by God, it tells of the struggles that have come to pass up to that point, as the poor decisions made by Saul and David caused suffering to themselves, their families and the people they were chosen to lead.

Samuel was promised to God from before he was conceived, as his mother Hannah had been barren, and had promised she would give her son to the Lord, if He were to bless her with the ability to bear a child. This is how Samuel was born and raised according to the will of God. After he helped Israel through a difficult period during the reign of Saul and David as kings, Samuel’s guidance also proved invaluable in orchestrating events so that the child that would grow up to become the wise and powerful King Solomon was eventually led to the throne.

The King James version of the Book of Samuel are an extensive work that has been preserved throughout the past four centuries, and continues to inspire those who follow the Christian faith even today. Through its numerous examples, moral lessons representative of an age long past, and what has been described by historians as genuine tales that may have actually occurred almost 1000 years before the time of Christ, this Book definitely has a significant amount of historic value, aside from its recognized theological value.

One of the great historical books ever written. Also one of the most accurate... of course, it has the advantage of being part of the divine canon of Scripture and thus is inerrant, inspired and infallible.
The book has three main characters - Samuel, Saul and David. Many other supporting characters help provide us with a very compelling, historically accurate, account of an exciting time in Israel's history.
Spiritual lessons abound - sin is condemned, righteousness exalted, and God glorified. Read it, love it, enjoy it, and learn from it.

Really enjoyed reading this book. Three main characters David, Jonathan, and Saul who show us their hearts and Saul was the worst since he disobeyed God and was left without His guidance. The relationship between David and Jonathan is very rare since he was Saul’s son and David was chosen as the next king to follow Saul. Motives are so important since it shows who you are and God will punish those who do not follow His laws. God brings about whatever is needed so we can turn around and repent and continue to follow Him.

Read this because Oscar Wilde references Jonathan’s honeycomb. Honestly crazy read (had no idea Jonathan and David were lowkey 💏…..)

“After the boy had gone, David got up from the south side of the stone and bowed down before Jonathan three times, with his face to the ground. Then they kissed each other and wept together—but David wept the most.”
