Ocean Girl, episode 1, The Girl in the Sea – TV Flashback
I only have watched two seasons and the first episode of a third one, where I came to know and was stunned by a fact that an actress Kerry Armstrong playing Dr. Dianne Bates was replaced by another actress who, in my opinion, seemed so not getting the Ocean Girl vibe. I really liked Kerry Armstrong, right from the first episode. She was a part of an Ocean Girl family. The mother. A real mother to Neri. And how you could replace THE MOTHER?? Nope, nope.

Kerry Armstrong Keynote Speaker

A fun fact: our local Bookstore member of a Chitai-Gorod team looks so similar to Kerry Armstrong! Same big eyes, blond hair made in the same type of cut. Same beautiful smile and a very friendly appearance. It would certainly be weird if I'd asked her to take her picture so you yourself could see and confirm a striking resemblance :D I might return to the series later, not so sure, though. And *sigh* I wasn't able to track down the book, I wish it'd covered the second season two, since it's my favourite, but only the first one is okay, too :)

Read for the Alphabet Reading Challenge 2024 - the letter O

I watched this series growing up. I can’t believe the author also did other classic Australian shows, such as Blue Heelers, Cop Shop and the Sullivans to name a few.

A very cute read regarding the centre character of Neri, and her friendship with Brett and Jason.
They get into a few sticky situations, wondering what is going to happen!

A must read for Young Adults, and people who watched the series.

Colour me obsessed with the first season of the TV show - and I loved the following seasons as well, but the first was just perfect... just a bunch of Aussie kids saving the whales and the oceans and one happens to be kind of a mermaid. So nice and simple, before there was all the time-travel and alien stuff to contend with as well.

Probably good if you liked the TV series, but pretty lackluster without that reference.

Ultimately one of my all-time favourite books. Peter Hepworth was a brilliant writer.

I really loved the TV series, and this follows the first. Though to be honest, I prefered the first series to the rest.

Jason, working in marine biology during his school hols on ORCA - an undersea research lab - discovers a mermaid like girl called Neri, living on an island, and their quest is to save Jali, a humpback whale Neri can communicate with. But the whale isn't the only one in trouble.

Won't spoil the plot, but it's an amazing eco adventure way ahead of its time.
