If happily ever after were a place, twenty-year-old Bryn Dawson would be on the farthest planet from it.
Reduced to stolen glances and secret meetings as they await a Betrothal the Council is bent on stalling, William and Bryn have to settle for happily right now, but with a man like William Hayward at her side, Bryn’s hardly settling.
The day John Townsend sends an army of Immortal mercenaries intent on destroying everyone Bryn loves, she must make the decision generations of star-crossed lovers before her have—live alone or die together. William’s made his decision, Bryn’s the one fate’s waiting on.
But fate will only wait so long until it makes the decision for her.

I hate to give this 4 stars instead of 5, but I am going to stick to my resolve. It was SUCH a good book, but I was depressed for 3/4 of it to the point where I thought I might have to go door to door in search of an anti-depressant. BUT, totally redeemed and worth it for the ending of this book. It takes a special author for you to get so emotionally involved in the characters. I have read near 70 books since April (addicted to my kindle much?) and I will say that Brynn and William are in my top 3 couples. To feel that emotionally attached to a couple, to believe they truly love each other is hard to do. I literally started crying at one point in the book and had to put it down before bed, cause I couldn't take the hurt in my heart anymore. But, not able to sleep, as I knew things just had to get better, I got up at 1:30 and read until my heart was happy again at the end of the book. But, then I still couldn't sleep, cause I was so excited.
**SPOILERS** I didn't have a clue that this book would be about separation by stupidity, I expected separation by Townsend or the council. My heartbreaking moment was the removal of the leather bracelet. Couldn't take it anymore. I was SOOO thrilled with the ending though. However, I know we won't get those sapphire eyes until the end of the next book...would be too easy. But, I have no doubt we will get them, better make it worth it girl!! Don't give me 2 sentences and then end the book. I'll need some happily ever after closure!! lol Patrick, so love that boy. I was CRACKING up, literally, when Brynn picked his travel outfit from Germany...could totally picture it. Looking forward to see what this apparent romance with (Sophie, was it?) will be like and have a feeling that poor little Paul might be involved as well. Hope they BOTH find an exceptional woman, because they the both truly are exceptional men. Thanks for a great series.
It has been a few months since I read Eternal Eden, and as I began reading Fallen Eden, like old friends, things took off naturally right where they left off, filling me with it's stories and dropping me back into the Immortal world of Bryn and William.
Ms Williams once again creates such tangible images that I feel as though I can perfectly visualize every street, every house, every room, every chair... every place. I know the Chalet like it's my home, and William's house... exceptional, beautiful, perfect. Like her talent with imagery, Ms Williams is exceptional at writing emotion - especially love - and I feel as though I have journeyed along side Bryn though every moment of sadness, misery and of course...happiness.
There was so much I enjoyed about this book - it is the perfect bridge between exciting new beginnings in Book 1, and what I hope will be blissful happy ever after endings in Book 3. Like every perfect relationship, for there to be ups, there must be a few downs. Despite the fact that I was all but shouting "stop being so stupid" at Bryn and William, there was plenty of fun to be found as well.
The re-introduction of Paul was a pleasant surprise. He's fun, genuine and an all around sweet guy. Not to mention a great friend. While my heart breaks a tiny bit - only because his hopes are shattered - I just know there must be something wonderful for him in the future.
As in Eternal Eden, Patrick assumes his perfected role as annoying brother, dripping in ego, with a healthy dose of wit and sarcasm... what's not to love? He's a close 2nd to Bryn and William as my favourite character in the series. More than once I chuckled through his antics, and laughed out loud as karma dished it back (a certain travel outfit comes to mind). I adore Patrick and hope his future is filled with the love he denies he needs, yet thoroughly deserves.
This book certainly took me through a wide array of emotion - I was happy, I was sad, I was miserable, and then I was filled with hope and joy once again. While I found the separation difficult, it solidified every thought and possibility that William and Bryn are truly and entirely meant to be.
Well done Ms Williams. I loved it. I hated it. I loved it more. I couldn't put it down and I can't wait until the next one is done! November seems forever away!
I feel that I have to write a little something here, since I wrote a review for the last book. Obviously, I loved it! It was very easy for me to become emotionally absorbed in the characters from the very beginning and the author does a really good job of reminding readers of what happened in Eternal Eden without taking our attention away from the present. The editing in this installment of the series was much, much better and I was able to keep my attention focused on the story and the characters without wanting to break out the red pen!
The dialogue is spectacular! Especially between Patrick and...well...anybody, but his conversations with Bryn are pretty entertaining. The characters are compelling and I find myself completely invested in the story. If Bryn was my friend, I probably would have slapped her a few times! I realize that her intentions were noble, but, ultimately, I can't imagine that her choices won't have some consequences down the road - I imagine that it would be pretty easy to forgive the one you love, but, forgetting is not always as easy to do and I can't imagine that William, Joseph, Cora, or Patrick will ever completely forget because I believe they truly care for her.
Of course, the writing is on the wall for the final book in the trilogy - Gosh, I hope that what Bryn suspects of Charles doesn't happen, but, I have a bad feeling about it - and there are a couple of loose ends that I really hope get tied up and some questions that still need answered.
I can't wait for the third and final installment coming in November!
How did I read this book so fast?! I'm still trying to come to terms that its over, well at least this book is. Moving on, I have to say that this book was different than the first one; this one took more of toll on me, even at times I wanted to cringe away from the book; I didn't want to read further because what was happening to Bryn was just too horrific, I mean hasn't she been through enough?! Isn't there an unspoken rule that fate has to take a leave of absence once in awhile? Guess not. But either way I was touched by this book and yes at times I felt the need to cry and grab a tissue beside me. Nicole did a fatastic job on creating such great imagery and scenery that it was hard not to feel like you're in the story; that you're the character. We definately got to see some transformations of the characters and see a side of them we hadn't been granted in "Eternal Eden." I loved the story, I loved that it kept changing, that nothing was stalled in one place. This was a very powerful read for me, something that will stick in my mind for awhile to come now. But no matter how sad it was at times it had me absolutely beaming because I was like 'that's my Bryn, you're a strong one, you go girl!' I just loved how strong she became, I love everything about it, she isn't just a thin, flat character; a name on the page, she's a 4D girl all the way around. And to see a more darker outlooker on their world than in "Eternal Eden" was as interesting as the characters themselves.
Summary: Bryn and William love each other; there's no doubt about that. But being a Taker is taking its toll on Bryn and when she comes close to killing William with her powers she escapes; she becomes the coward she thinks she is and leaves Montana and travels to Paris, putting as much distance between her and the one person she never wanted to leave.
But living in Paris is no easy task and just the pain of separation is enough to bring anyone down but soon she will be put to the test, she will be forced to tell the truth; to face her greatest fear in the midst of chaos but when it comes time to stop running what will she decide? What will she do?
Last thoughts:
This book is so much more than I could ever describe. And as always in this case the summary is short, to really get the sense of darkness and power you must read this on your own. It was beautiful, dark and twisted. No matter how much you want to put this book down you can't; you get hooked, reeled in for examination. But when you reach the last page all that pain, remorse or anger will be put aside. You will discover things you didn't even know about. And there's one thing for sure Nicole's writing is what made it so believeable; so powerful. Her writing is what made me immediately by "United Eden" right after I finished this one. It was a great addition to the series and I can't wait to find out the fate of Bryn and William in the final book.
Oh my, I don't even know where to begin with this fabulous work of art. (I am not in any way trying to butter up the author, this is seriously the best series I have read this year. Absolutely divine!) The story begins a couple months after the first book catching up with the much divided Hayward family, and the main character, Bryn. The story hits right off the bat and straight in to action just as the first book in the series did. The characters are still their funny selves and are even funnier this go round. That is one of the main reasons why I love this series so much, its not so serious all the darn time and they can still be sarcastic as the next person! Also, then there is William. The very top reason why I love this series so much. This whole book is nothing like I thought Williams would have taken it in, IN A GOOD WAY. I just did not see anything that was thrown my way in this heartbreaking story. This whole story was unpredictable, heartbreaking, and so heartwarming all at the same time. If you ask me, that is the simple ingredients to make a very amazing book!
A couple times I was frustrated with the story, but not in the usual way where I would automatically blame the author. Williams took it in a realistic way and every decision Bryn had made, I would have made myself. I just wish Williams would have warned in the beginning that I would had to have my tissues by my side for most of the story. The ending was fabulous with out meaning to leave a big cliff hanger. I am not giving anything too big away by saying "What did Patrick's father want to talk to him about?" I really hope it is not what I am thinking it is. Please, Williams, DO NOT KILL ME! I NEED TO KNOW SOON WHAT HAPPENS NEXT! (It is safe to say I am very addicted to this series Williams has graced upon us.)
The story in now way was ever boring and again Williams' writing style was amazing and easy to cling to every single word that she had written in Fallen Eden as with the first book, Eternal Eden. If the next book, United Eden (coming out this November! :)))) has the same writing style, with the simple ingredients that make this series so phenominal then consider me (the possible number one fan?) game on!!!
Overall: READ THIS! I would never steer you wrong! :)
Book Cover: Pretty. Don't really get how it has anything to do with the story inside?
Oh my goodness. I loved this book. And by love, I mean the kind of love-hate relationship where you are shaking the book wishing your yelling thoughts could reach the characters that you are feeling for. Needless to say though, that my hate was out won by utter love of how this book panned out. Twists, turns, unbearable heart-ache...Nicole Williams sure knows how to write them.
Since this is a second book in a series, I was kind of expecting the first few chapters to bore me with a re-telling of book one. However, this book was nothing of the sort. Sure, you get a few little pieces here and there like there should be, but it doesn't drone on, and tells it where it completely intertwines with what is going on in the current moment, the moment we had all been waiting to read may I add! And once this book gets started, you will NOT be able to put it down, I promise you.
There are very few dull moments in this book, well I felt like anyway. Not always with the action you would think I was referring to, but not a dull moment of feeling crushed and wanting to intervene in the characters mind and tell everyone what you know so everything will just work out already! But I guess that is the best part of this book...feeling so immensely that I couldn't help but have my eyes glued to my nook.
The ending of this book actually took me by surprise. Once you think everything is going to be peachy keen [as much as it could be considering] there was a small seed planted in my mind of doubt that things where going to go as said...and since there is another book coming out soon, I am guess something huge is going to happen. Maybe not even what I think will since there is still a HUGE battle brewing, but I can't help but think that Williams doesn't let these two have their "Happily Ever After" just yet.
Either way, I am anticipating book number three very much. I can not wait to get my eyes on those pages to see what Williams has in store for the star crossed lovers now. But no matter what she has in store, it is bound to be a great read. Do yourself a favor and read these books folks, you will not regret it.
I had been looking forward to the release of this sequel in Nicole William's indie trilogy. I was anxious to see how Bryn & William's relationship would continue after the devastating news they received at the end of the first installment. This sequel lived up to my expectations, and as a matter of fact, I couldn't put it down. Sometimes with second books it is hard for me to "get back into" the story and characters, but that was no problem here. Bryn was still engaging for me, and William was still charming as ever. I could really feel for her and identify with what she was going through and the choices (albeit sometimes bad) she was making. There were several twists and turns along the way - some anticipated and some completely out of nowhere - that drew me in and kept me reading.
If I had any complaint about this story, it's that the supposedly strong bond and closeness of the characters was called into question and dissolved so easily. Bryn makes a very important decision early on in the story that impacts everyone. Even though she has been so dedicated to the Haywards, they seem to let her go without much thought; only later do you get the impression that maybe they suspected what she was up to all along. I would have liked to see William fight a little harder for what he wanted, but I think that was more or less a personal preference. :) This novel was also free of the many editing and punctuation errors that plagued the first book. While there were a few misspellings or omissions in this one, they were not nearly as distracting and more easily overlooked.
Overall, this was a great read. I would highly recommend this trilogy to others, and I cannot wait for the thrilling conclusion this fall!
Amazing job Ms. Williams! This book just blew the first book away. Now I loved the first book too but this was such a joy to read. I guess because I fell in love with the characters... mostly William wishing a man was "obsessed" with me for over 200 years like he was with Bryn. :) The first book I felt like it was TOO much like Twilight, though I loved this story line 100x more it was hard not to think of Twilight. I found this book to spin away from Twilight and was on its own course. I really enjoyed the development of the characters and the Immortal world.
I found this book easier to read, still the few fighting scenes I found hard to follow like I did in book 1 but those were few and far between. I enjoyed the love story a lot, which is saying something because I tend to get bored of romance novels where the couple are apart. I found myself getting so mad at Bryn not telling William how she felt, why she left him, where she went, and what she did. I was really getting annoyed with it. Especially Patrick telling her William found a new love. Now it had only been 3 months of separation and he waited over 4 centuries to be with her. Did she really think he would fall for someone so fast?
My heart broke for Paul. I was expecting something else from his story line and was surprised what his secret was. As much as I got mad at Bryn for her actions, I was also sad, happy, and jealous all in one at Bryn. I love the detailing the author created in just about EVERYTHING. Thank you Ms. Nicole Williams for another 4 am night but it was well worth it!!
What a disappointment. I liked the 1st book much better, but this one was so frustrating because I couldn't get over how similar it was to the Twilight Saga. I mean, come on, she leaves him because she loves him and wants to protect him, blah, blah, blah. And then, of course, they introduce a possible love interest that she just loves as a friend but he loves her, blah, blah, blah.
The tragedy is there is such a great story here. There really is potential to do things with the idea and the plot, but it's like Williams just succumbed to Stephenie Meyer hero-worship. By the end I was completely annoyed with our heroine. And if the not-so-subtle hint toward the end is any indication, she will be betrothed to William's brother, and that will make me even more frustrated because, come on! Can no one be specific in this book? How easy would it have been for William to say, "She will be my wife." Instead of, "She will be part of this family." Who says that? Grrrr.....
I admit that I will read the next book. Despite my feelings about this installment, I still have high hopes for series!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
William & Bryn!!! I love their story!! In Fallen Eden Bryn is dealing with William's constant travel abroad healing people around the world, while Bryn stays behind with his family, the Haywards and starts training with Patrick to enhance her physical and mental strength. We get to see a lot of Paul in this one, too, even though he was a little bit overbearing in the first one, I loved him by the end of this one!!! Their is more of John Townsend and his henchmen as Bryn and the Haywards continue to fight them off and still find a way to convince the Council to allow them a Bethrothal! I wish I could get into more details but the surprises in the book are what kept me up all night so I won't deprive anyone their chance to enjoy it for themselves! Just purchased Forever Eden and can't wait to find out how this series ends!!
Apart from the horrific cover this book is as good as the first in the series. The story picks up a few months after the first one left off. Bryn has got herself into a pickle yet again, this one is her own doing though. All the same characters are there, which is good, the same love interests, least there’s no new ones. It did not disappoint. I felt it was a little slow in the middle, but I missed Will and Patrick. Especially Patrick, although he was there more than Will, but his fun witty manner was mostly missing, he was quite rude and detached. I loved the ending it was amazing but once again it reminded me slightly of Twilight, I know I should compare the books, but sometimes it is hard not to. This book is worth the read and was just as good the second time around.
Okay Nicole.... WOW. Huge improvement from the first book. Maybe it was because I was more settled with the depth of the love between William and Bryn that it didn't seem as overly mushy gushy as the first book. It was the perfect amount of anger, suspense, intrigue and romance. I have no idea where you are going with Patrick and Bryn's relationship, but I am extremely curious. You have set things up for soooo many possibilities. I am sure everyone is fighting for William and Bryn, but who knows ; ) I can't wait for the third book. Seriously I think I read this book in 8 hours. Couldn't put it down.
I hope your books get picked up by a big time publisher. I would love to have printed copies of them, especially with the awesome covers.
I just sat down and read this book straight through and I have a huge deadline today. Ack, I'll be up all night working but it was well worth it. I still can't believe I can get this book for $2.99 when i have been reading books that pale in comparison that cost almost 10x as much. Then again, maybe it's better for me that way ;-)
I can't wait until Novemebr even if this book was like a big yummy meal with dessert.
I can't wait to see what comes next and if it's the family matter hinted at the end, it should be interesting to say the least.
Thank you Nicole for another great story and keep them coming!
Nicole Williams has done it again!! Just when you think William and Bryn start their life together, turn after turn, the events catapult their fate into a different direction. The foreshadowing at the end has me really nervous. That was something that I did not see coming, although a slight inkling throughout these two books did have me consider something along those lines. Amazing job Nicole!! I'm really I can't wait to read United Eden! November can't get here fast enough. Well done!
This is an exceptional series! I couldn't put this book down. I took it with me everywhere I went, so if I had 2 minutes to read, I did! Very original story. It's been a very long time since I fell in love with characters in a story. Congratulations Nicole - you hit a home run!
Gah!!! Most of this book was so frustrating, pretty much everyone was being stupid! Thank goodness the end made up for the torture I had to endure. For most of the book I wanted to slap Bryn, William, Patrick & Paul for their actions. Can't wait to see what happens next.
I am addicted to Bryn and William's story and this gave me my fix while still leaving me wanting more. I don't know how I am going to wait until November for the conclusion!!
I was forced by a supposed 'friend' to read this book. I liked this less than book 1. Nothing really happens other than they whine a lot about how they can't have sex. And our irritating heroine hops on planes at the drop of a hat and jets off to France and Germany without a passport, luggage, money or a plane ticket. Otherwise…nothing.
Bryn and William come back from doing something vague and never mentioned again. There's supposedly some intrigue, but we never find out what it is. Bryn and William aren't allowed to marry, but we're never given a reason why. Bryn decides she should leave William, to protect him (why?), so she tells his brother she doesn't really love William. It's so obvious she's doing it to get away. Yet Patrick is too stupid to realise. She jets off to France. She runs into Paul from the US. In France. They work together at an American-run bar, and never have to speak French. They get attacked by someone. It goes nowhere. They go to Germany to stay at William's chalet. Paul tells her he's dying. She's determined to make him immortal. I don't know why because he's an ass and, frankly, a rapist. I'm not exaggerating. Yet she finds him charming for it. And she barely knows him, but she's now living with him and desperate to keep him alive and calls him a friend. Why??? Then there's a lot of arguing and 'kicking butt' and 'you're an idiot' and 'shut up' for about 150 pages. And in the end, nothing happens. There.
And as much as I protest, I'm going to be forced to read book 3, as well. Sigh.
So as I did with book 1, I'm just going to list some of the choicer lines I highlighted in the book:
* I rolled over in the twin-size bed—strategically selected, no doubt
* smiling the one he knew would undue my resolve ten days out of ten [IT SEEMS WE'RE BACK TO HER OVERUSE OF THE WORD 'RESOLVE' - AND I LOVE THAT SHE WROTE 'UNDUE' - AND HOW BADLY CONSTRUCTED THE SENTENCE IS, IN GENERAL]
* There was too much emotion circling around me to contain their release. I was sweltering in it. [SWELTERING??]
* The burst of his heart shunned the two layers of cotton separating our bodies.
* He groaned with his lips still adhered to mine. [CLASSIC EXAMPLE OF OVERUSE OF A THESAURUS]
* Yet another thorn in my side senactually, [WHAT??????]
* plugging an equation into their dimwitted minds and shooting an answer out their butts. It was a bunch of bull to me [what, not poppycock or derriers?]
* Patrick smiled one that was the devil incarnate at me. [Smiled one??? This whole sentence needs reconstructing]
* The sooner I was done with Patrick, the sooner I could skinny-dip with William.
* a classic Bryn situation, also known as a lose-lose situation. My Mortal vex had followed me into Immortality.
* William, and me sans clothing,
* I felt warmth and a male presence, but neither was being emitted from the one who should have been beside me at this unholy hour in my bed while I was a quarter of a yard of lycra away from being naked.
* “What if one day he wakes up and decides he’s tired of fighting and that I’m not really worth it in the end? [ENOUGH WITH THE SELF-PITY!!!]
* closed my eyes and circled my index finger in the air. My erratic circle making stopped and I pointed at some location in the world that would become home sweet home, or at least home sweet now. When I opened my eyes, a laugh escaped my throat, although it sounded everything but benign. “Paris,” I muttered, shaking my head. Perfect, I thought The city of love . . . Score: Fate—1, Bryn—Zippo. [APPARENTLY IT'S REALLY EASY TO MOVE TO PARIS ON A WHIM - AND LUCKILY FOR HER…AN AMERICAN BAR!]
* Knowing Rue St. Denis’ reputation—and it wasn’t for its croissants or berets— from a vacation I’d taken with my parents when I was sixteen, I’d expected to find a space to rent for next to nothing. Like most things, I was immensely mistaken. I couldn’t comprehend how an eighteen by twenty square foot studio with a mouse hole for a bathroom in the red light district of Paris could go for as much as one of those zippy little Cessna’s I dodged on a daily basis. [WHY DID HER PARENTS TAKE HER TO THE RED LIGHT DISTRICT??????????????]
* “Here’s to popping your cherry at the Rue St. Jersey.”
* “Bite me.” [WHERE IS THIS LANGUAGE COMING FROM, NOW? DID I SWITCH BOOKS AND NOT REALISE?]
* “Pardon my French.” [AS IF ANYTHING FRENCH HAS APPEARED IN THIS BIZARRE NOTION OF PARIS]
* we both sucked in a long breath. “I don’t know how you do it,” he said, sucking in another one. “I found myself gagging a few dozen times in there.” “I don’t breath,” I answered [YET THEY BOTH SUCKED IN A LONG BREATH - AND BTW, THAT'S NOT HOW YOU SPELL 'BREATHE']
* He shrugged his shoulders. “My dad’s an officer in the Marines and deployed nine months of the year—more if he can help it—so he didn’t care if I was at OSU or in Timbuktu.” I hadn’t known that either—some friend I was. [THIS IS ABOUT PAUL - BUT THEY WERE NEVER FRIENDS - BRYN HATED HIM - AND SOMEHOW SHE'S RANDOMLY RUN INTO HIM…IN PARIS…IN AN AMERICAN BAR - I BELIEVE IN SANTA CLAUS MORE THAN I BELIEVE IN THE COURSE OF EVENTS IN THIS BOOK]
* I’m about to unleash a serious case of ass-whooping.” ['BUTT' IS HER NEW 'RESOLVE']
* ass-whooping commencing.”
* He looked at me with the same wide-eyed speculation he had in the diner when I’d stopped his charge at William like he were as ferocious as a charging lamb. [UM….]
* Germany was everything and nothing I expected it to be. [CANNOT WAIT FOR HER TERRIBLE GERMAN]
* “Give me another sec,” I called out, rushing to the petrified picnic on the carpet. I grabbed up the dishes, along with the copy of the Sentinel, before racing into the kitchen and tucking them into the first cabinet I opened. Could I have tossed the months old bagel in the garbage? Yeah. Should I have? Absolutely. But there was some crazy part of me that couldn’t throw another piece of him away. [EW!!!]
* “If I didn’t know you better, that might have actually hurt my feelings, Bryn,” [THIS IS PAUL - WHO DIDN'T KNOW HER AT ALL, BTW]
* “O-kay,” I said, “so in non-philosophical terms, what’s our plan?”
* busting our butts
* I had an urge—that I thankfully repressed—to kiss Patrick square on the lips. [WHY??? SHE'S SUCH A HUSSY!]
* “Be ready for a serious butt kicking.”
* Paul’s tan skin was gray, his cheekbones so sunken he looked more skeleton than flesh and blood. He was curled in a ball, wrapped around a garbage can that smelt like death. [THIS IS DUE TO HIM HAVING CANCER - HE CHANGED TO THIS DEGREE IN ONE DAY - AFTER THE PREVIOUS DAY HE WAS OUT KICKING BUTT - I FIND THIS INSULTING TO ALL CANCER VICTIMS]
* I powered on his phone, not sure if hitting 911 would get me anyone in Germany, but figuring it was a good first start. [SERIOUSLY, HOW STUPID IS SHE!? ANYONE WITH HALF A BRAIN WOULD TRY 0 FOR THE OPERATOR!]
* I sighed against my best intentions not too.
* “toss that Boredom-lopedia in the fireplace.”
* “Please tell me you have a plan,” I said, watching the last black scraps disappear. “Any plan.” “I’m not a plan type of man,” [THIS HAPPENED IN BOOK 1 - AND AS IN THAT BOOK, THERE WAS NO PLAN IN BOOK 2 - PROBABLY BECAUSE THE AUTHOR HAD NO PLAN...OR PLOT]
* “Cross my heart and hope to die.” [PLEASE PLEASE LET HER DIE]
* “Genius can’t be rushed. [IF SHE SAYS SO!]
* you want to bang your own head with the hammer.” [I DO. SOMEONE GET ME A HAMMER.]
* My eyes looked like dull marbles buried in deep hollows, accompanied by sunken cheeks that looked rouged with ash. [UM. ASH IS GREY, NOT RED.]
* a dream-rummy voice. [WHAT????]
* “You and I might have the most destructive constructive relationship in known existence.
* “Mmmm,”—he nestled his face into my hair—“I’m dead, aren’t I?” he asked, his voice hoarse from the extended sleep. I shook my head, burying it deeper into his chest. His arms responded by pulling me tighter. “Surely this is Heaven.” [SOMEONE GET ME A BUCKET]
* couldn’t waste any more time helping him ascertain reality.
* I’d fallen into a semi-coma the past twelve hours after losing William all over again. [WHICH WAS HER OWN FAULT FOR BEING A LIAR!]
* payback wasn’t just a bitch, it was a bitch dressed in heels and Versace.
* her hand loosening infinitesimally,
* “She’s aliiiiiiive!” Patrick’s voice burst through the trees, his arm beckoning the sky in a Mary Shelly kind of way. [SERIOUSLY. AT LEAST LOOK UP HER NAME TO CHECK THE SPELLING.]
* “I’m surrounded by morons,” I muttered [LIKE ATTRACTS LIKE, BRYN]
* I picked out a stunning pair of suede shorts that were short for a teenage girl, a t-shirt depicting an ample female bust in a tiny bikini top striped with the colors of the German flag, and a pair of clogs—two sizes too small—to finish off the masterpiece. [CLOGS ARE DUTCH!!!]
* “The only person more dense than him is you.” [SO TRUE]
* NICARAQUA [HOW HARD IS IT TO CHECK THE SPELLING OF THIS? JUST RIGHT-CLICK IN MS WORD, EVEN!]
* I didn’t speak Spanish [SHE BARELY SPEAKS ENGLISH]
* His hair hidden beneath a handkerchief, his mouth behind a paper mask, his eyes rimmed with dirt, sweat, and sleepless nights I’d never been so blinded by his beauty. [DID I SWITCH BOOKS AGAIN?]
* The way William cradled the baby to him, firm but gentle, would have sent my internal clock into a tailspin if it wasn’t on eternal time-delay.
* I looked more Sasquatch than woman
* “I’m Sierra,” she offered, staring up at Patrick. “Sierra,” he rolled the name around in his mouth, tasting it. “Now there’s a range of mountains I wouldn’t mind summiting.”
* “Oh, my gosh. . .” I was incapable of offering anything more intelligent. [SMARTEST LINE IN THE BOOK!]
* William, or Norberto-William, looked at me, hitching his hands on his hips, and flashed a smile that was scary similar to the one that made my body rush whenever William gave it. He winked. [WHAT JUST HAPPENED!?]
* “Colorado?” he said, a note short of a holler. “That’s a good day away. No deal.” [YET IT WAS SO EASY TO GO TO FRANCE AND GERMANY!]
* So we didn’t quite make it to the Texas border. We found ourselves tangled up before the Guatemalan dirt had flung itself off our shoes as soon as we crossed the border into Mexico. Tangled again in Texas, even more so in Colorado, and by the time we crossed into Montana [HOW DID THEY NOT MAKE THE TEXAS BORDER, YET SOMEHOW GET TO COLORADO???]
* you can consider Bryn as good as Betrothed.” [OH GOOD GRIEF - I JUST WORKED OUT THE 'PLOT' TO BOOK 3 - THEY'RE GOING TO HAVE SEX. FOR 300 PAGES.]
* Her eyes circumnavigated William like she was Columbus and she’d just discovered America. [THAT MEANS SHE LOOKED AROUND HIM, NOT AT HIM!!!!]
* “What’s the worse that could happen? You end up Betrothed to me?” he said [THAT ACTUALLY SOUNDS LIKE HELL]
* “Where are you two kids off to?” Patrick asked, at last ceasing his male stripper-esque moves since he’d lost his audience at hip thrust number two.
* My stomach felt like it was dropping to the molten layer of the planet. [MINE TOO. MY BARF SHALL RUNNETH OVER LIKE LAVA, SOLIDIFYING MY SICKNESS FOR ALL THE EARTHLY WORLD TO WITNESS.]
* following me around Europe at every turn?” [AGAIN HE'S A STALKER]
* I bit my lip, reliving the German chalet going up in flames. “I’m really sorry about your house. I promise—” “Forget about it,” he said, his face unconcerned. “Besides, I’m sure I can think of a way you can repay me.” [APPARENTLY YOU CAN PAY SOMEONE BACK THE COST OF A CHALET…WITH SEX!]
* “I can’t believe I’m going to say this, especially now that it appears I’ve finally worn you down.” [HE UNDID HER RESOLVE]
* That sounds a little monumental, not to mention vague.” [LIKE EVERYTHING IN THIS BOOK]
* what oil was to vinegar, I was to eloquence.
* “I figure if we’re going to spend a good portion of our time out here star-gazing, we’ll need a lot of practice to ensure we don’t slide off if we’re . . . distracted.” [SLIDE OFF??? ALL I CAN THINK OF IS 'PONY' BY GINUWINE]
* His moan was interrupted midstream by a holler, followed by his body sliding down and away. I don’t know if his foot caught hold in the rain-gutter or my hand grabbing his stopped his fall, but one thing was apparent either way. William was right about us needing practice, or harnesses, if we planned on making the steep angled roof a regular retreat for our post-Union romance. [CAN'T THEY USE A BED, LIKE NORMAL PEOPLE? THEY'RE GETTING BUSY ON A HILL]
* saw a woman sprinting likes comet down Main Street. [COMETS DON'T SPRINT]
* the mast masterful wince he was capable of
* The prequel, Eternal Eden [IT WASN'T A PREQUEL, IT WAS BOOK 1!]
* How could anything be more enthralling than the man I loved washing his hands from the work of delivering a baby in the thick of a Central American jungle?
* As any and every female could attest to, Paul had been good-looking in his Mortal life, but the passage into Immortality had enhanced him in such a way he could have been the result of a Swedish model mating with a Greek God. He was a Disney hero incarnate—wide, roguish smile and all. [I LOVE THAT SHE ENDS WITH DISNEY]
* I heaved a sigh. “I was thinking about everything from why rainbows don’t last to which team’s going to win the Superbowl this year.”
* “I told you, Norberto. [THAT IS SERIOUSLY SOMEONE'S NAME]
* I was watching a man change, square-inch by square-inch before me [HE'S CUBOID????]
* With the discipline of a rooster, I announced morning with a groan that rumbled my pillow
* clown-sized cars careened into me. [HOW EXACTLY DOES ONE MEASURE CLOWNS? I MUST HAVE MISSED THAT LESSON IN PRIMARY SCHOOL MATHS]
* Nicole loves hearing from her readers. [SHE WOULDN'T WANT TO HEAR FROM ME!]
Fallen Eden did not disappoint! The first book had dragged a little bit for me, it took ages to set the scene but I was definitely emotionally attached to Bryn and William by the end. Saying that, I knew this book would be even better as the world of immortals and William Hayward is a sexy and dangerous one and I was ready for lots of action. And action I got. The book started with Bryn being sad because she and William couldn't officially be together due to The Council not granting them a union. That didn't stop them from being in love, and their chemistry is fabulous, and it went back to happy. Not to mention the UST. Then it went sad and then happy again (you will see when you read it!). A roller coaster of emotions and I didn't want to stop. I was sucked in.
While a lot of the story is somewhat predictable, it certainly didn't stop me from reading because I loved seeing everything play out. I found myself loving so many characters, like Joseph and Cora, but especially Patrick. Oh my! When Bryn picked out an outfit for him I had a huge LOL moment. I cannot wait to see what happens with him in the final book.
Of course every relationship isn't perfect, but William and Bryn, oooh, sometimes I wanted to shake them for their horrendous communication skills.
It seems obvious what will happen in the final book...Charles is definitely less than honest. That kind of left me so sad when the book ended, so I can't wait to see what happens to tie up loose ends. I have a feeling I know who is getting paired off with who. Lots of heartache the entire book but that makes me keep reading because I need to see Bryn and William happy and get some sapphire eyes!!
Then there are other things I would love to know....Why does William's father, Charles, hate Bryn, why do they all really think William is the chosen one? Is he? I guess we need to wait for book 3 to find out.
WOW! Eternal Eden and Fallen Eden have both been “I can’t put it down” books. Fallen Eden is the second novel in the Eden trilogy by Nicole Williams, and it surpassed my (very high) expectations. It was a non-stop, action-packed novel. It surprised me in the very best way, with some interesting twist and turns and the return of some unexpected characters.
Normally when the two love interests are separated in a novel, for a significant amount of time, I grow bored. However, Nicole Williams kept her story entertaining and kept her readers engaged throughout the entire book. One of the main things I was hoping for in this novel was for growth in Bryn’s character, mainly her confidence. I am glad to report that Williams delivered.
I'm now dying to get my hands on United Eden, the final book in this series. I can't wait to see if William and Bryn can overcome it all and finally be together :) (I have a feeling they still have quite a few battles ahead of them!)
I gave Fallen Eden by Nicole Williams 4 STARS. It was amazing, better than Eternal Eden. I recommend this series to young adults who enjoy paranormal romance.
I liked the first book alot and thought this would be good too since its a sequence. It was good but not great like the first one. I didn't like how Bryn left William because she thought she was dangerous for him and made him believe she left him for someone else. I hated that part it was streched out so long in the book. It was only in the last chapter that we see William and Bryn getting back together and that was the best part in the whole book for me. We get to see more of Paul in this book and he actually kiss Bryn without her permission and boy that was a funny scene how she hit him for it afterwards. Lolz. I felt bad for Paul but knew he would become immortal (I had a feeling since the first book). I also loved Patrick he was the reason this book seem to have humor and he was much better character in this book than our herione. I hated Bryn to believe that she was doing a right thing by staying away from William. We didn't get to see much of William until the very end but he made few little appearances in the middle though. Overall, it was an okay book for me but I just think the author was dragging Bryn's situation so much in this book.
Let me start off by saying this book was utterly depressing until I was about 3/4 into it, maybe even a bit more. I finished this book in a day, literally didn't want to put it down! After I fell in love with the first book in the series, Eternal Eden, I instantly bought this one and was excited to see what would happen between Bryn and William. I am so excited for the next book to finally have an answer to the big question. WILL THEY END UP TOGETHER OR WILL THEY NOT??? Over all this book was really good, I honestly don't feel like it suffered too much from middle book syndrome and I'm glad this was filled with some action like the first! We also get a few new intriguing characters thrown our way and I really enjoyed that too! (:
In the second story, things start to get crazy. Bryn has a future that may be not what she wanted.
For me, this book drama and the rules around the society is awesome. I really liked the oppression that Byrn is put under. Despite what obstacle she faces, she still loves and sacrifice everything for William. For a moment, I was sad that everything has to be so difficult for them. UGH! Why can't love between two people be easy for once! Because some loves are just wroth fighting for.
Of course you can expect the love interest to be strained. Expect harsh words, wall-building, and roller coaster ride of emotions enough to break your heart 100 different ways. At least int the end, things are finally getting set straight.
Fallen Eden, is what the title describes. Falling inn love, falling in the wrong places and wrong times. Everything failing this couple life and right. Fallen Eden is a compelling story that makes you want ton stand up against all the rules! It's exciting yet witty!
All I can say about this book is that it was paim stakingly annoying and quite tease worthty. At evvery turning Williams brings u to a point where u are like yes finally it s aboutnto happen what you have been waiting to happen and then all of a sudden BAM nothing happens! Bryn in this one was very annoying, she was weak ans yet strong im her decision to leave. I understood her reasoning but I dont understand her reasoning as to why she was hiding how she felt for William until the very end. It almisy made me sick at times where all I wanted to do was yell at her to just SAY WHAT SHE WANTED TO SAY instead of tip toeing around her emotions. Any who besides the constant teasing of Bryn coming so close numerous of letting her walls down and finally expressing to EVERYONE her love for William that book was better tham the first. It took me 3 daya to read from cover to cover and now I'm working my way to the final book United Eden.
First of..Fallen Eden did not disappoint! Eternal Eden, had been a little slow for me, but I knew it was to set the scene of this amazing world of Immortals. The book started with Bryn being sad because she and William couldn’t officially be together due to The Council not granting them a union. That didn’t stop them from being in love (their chemistry is fabulous) and it went back to happy.I found myself loving so many characters, like Joseph and Cora, but especially Patrick. The author again has done a fabulous job of creating a twisting and turning plot that keeps your attention at every page. The events are so nicely snaked together through the story that it has an incredible flow and smooth pace. I'm definately looking forward to book 3!
