A surprising and enriching collection of portraits of young men captured through the artistic and tasteful lens of David Armstrong's camera. At first, I didn't think I would take to this book but the quality of Armstrong's work with his models really wins you over.
This is not your Corbin Fisher or Mark Henderson or even Howard Roffman type of photographic book of young men, so don't expect to find an array of muscular bodies or full nudity or dicks on display or boys with boys.
Armstrong's models are just your average guys around town posing in some beautifully framed portraits, a few even decked out in quite feminine garb and donning some unusual head wear but all very fetching and also very male.
An engrossing selection of young men with unusual qualities and enough variety in type to seduce the reader in this finely produced art book.
Really enjoyed the witty comments by Armstrong and his muse Boyd Holbrook (who figures in some of the photos and is featured on the cover) to each other in the introduction. There is also a nice conversation piece at the end between Armstrong and fellow artiste Ryan McGinley.
